You guys remember the days when Phil Collins would randomly show up in Vice City Stories as a special guest?

There were even two missions where you had to protect Phil from being killed:

How Rockstar went from Phil Collins to having Dr. Dre only do an appearance on just his name alone is proof that their celebrity cameo skills are lacking.
Miami Vice was known to have guest celebrities in episodes. Phil Collins was in an episode of Miami Vice. I knew of him, I never fully recognized him when I played. He just blended in.

Now Dr. Dre just popping up in GTA Online just because ... no subtly whatsoever.

In The Air Tonight was also part of a very iconic scene from the pilot of Miami Vice. Phil Collins was associated with Miami Vice from the start.

I hate cop shows; and action schlock in general. (The 80s were full of clichés, and yet they played it so serious.) So I never saw the appeal of Vice.

It can't be denied that it launched a lot of careers. It seems like all the guest-stars went on to become big names on network TV.

Anybody consider Liberty City Stories to be darker but funnier than III? All the people you work with have little to no moral redeeming qualities. But they're wacky as hell.

I wish Chinatown Wars didn't burn Rockstar so bad, I'd love if the PS2 era games got ported to the Switch.

All assuming that they wouldn't half ass them as badly as they did the Xbox 360 version of San Andreas, of course.

DS had some weird-ass exclusivity. I'm still baffled that SE loaned out FF12 to a smaller company as a reskin.
I think M-rated titles didn't sell well on the DS. Also consider the audience who have a DS may not be interested in something like GTA. It was enough that Chinatown Wars hit the bargain bin shortly after release.

Now think of that philosophy, a newly released game immediately hitting the bargain bin. You would think it's bad.

That and Episodes for Liberty City may be the reason why R* abandoned single player experiences in favor for online.

Did it bomb?
It sold abysmally on the DS in spite of its advertisements, and Rockstar hasn't given Nintendo the time of day since.

A bit weird since the Switch could easily run the PS2 games and GTA V, but I guess they don't want to risk more flops.

Damn shame, since the idea of playing those games anywhere with proper controls is very enticing.

Who are you, again?
the nigger that has been saying about how GTAO fucked with SP for a while now since R* is lazy. changes on core systems that online does will affect SP because they drink from the same well when loading stuff. unlike RDR2's online mode. either they managed to figure a fix, hence the new Enhanced GTA5 SP (Which will have some online items whitelisted to appear in the game), or they will do some slight changes to revert the things they fucked up, which in turn seems to tease that they will keep GTAO even if a new installation's online mode is in the works.

you meant Revenant Wings? Think & Feel did a "expansion" on the story and they thought that the DS was the best target and it was either in production at the same time as FF12 or the team had discipline to pull out that game in one year. i don't know what was with the developers but it seems DS needed to use the 2nd screen or else their families would sleep with the fish or something.

LA Noire was ported to the Switch. That's the last one I know.

Not many games from Rockstar were released for Nintendo products.

I guess R* knows that their games don't sell well on Nintendo platforms.

Ok, if they were willing to port over LA Noire, then they should've done the same for GTA.

I simply don't get Rockstar these days. With the exception of RDR2's campaign, they've really changed for the worse.
