Guilty Gear Strive

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
This more or less confirms that the leak was true. It's not a bad first season, but unless Asuka's playstyle isn't zoner/ranged mage I doubt any of the other characters will be particularly appealing to me.
Hopefully we get Jack-O before Jam. I would've liked Arc Sys to surprise us a little by not fucking up another season of DLC for another game the exact same way they fucked up all their other ones but that's just me

Maybe it's just me, but it feels like I'm the only person who hasn't cared much about Strive since its launch.
I bought the game and gave it a try, but the way they gutted the gatling system really fucks with my head.
I've played too much +R and just expect certain shit to work, and when my button doesn't come out I feel like I'm DSP going like "HUH? I'M PRESSING BUTTONS!!!" When in reality I'm retarded and keep forgetting about the new gatling system.

I really WANT to like the game, but I can't bring myself to enjoy it as much as I wish I could.

I'm also not really a fan of the music at all.
Crawl is the only track I've heard that feels like a "Guilty Gear" song to me, and all of the tracks being vocal tracks is annoying too in a fighting game.

Chaos fans btfo.

I imagine Chaos will be playable when the next storyline part gets added. Jam will probably be next. Hope my boi Venom returns...

It's pretty much a power metal song storyline given anime flare.

This Helloween song always reminded me of the games backstory with making new "gods" and they revolt and probably was an inspiration considering all the Helloween references. Course GG owes a lot to Bastard, future fantasy with a metal theme. Ky Kiske's Order uniform is straight up Lars Metallica's outfit when he resurrects.

They already figured out the first season’s dlc characters based on file names. I want to say it’s Goldlewis, Asuka/That Man, Happy Chaos, Jack-O/Aria, and Jam.

I may be the only person in this world that is genuinely happy about that change. I always hated how in almost every anime fighter it felt like all you had to do was mash light and you got optimal damage. At least with something like SF4 you had to have the skill and timing to link your attacks. Feels like you're actually fighting a character and not a poke machine.

I'm not happy with the gutted movesets, high damage, wall breaks, and that awful UI. I still think it's at least fun and it's the only new fighter with good net code.

I have a friend like you I like to hope they add in some much needed things like extra moves or insta kills and like I said before I think the story feels kind of rushed too . I am (hoping) this game gets at least 3 DLC seasons with how much it sold.

It's less about moves and instant kills, and more about just how the game fundamentally works for me.
The reason I had so much fun playing GGXXACR was because it was radically different from games I had played before. The gatling system allowed for a lot of fun freedom with combos, even for an entry level player. The way it's handled in Strive is just a little boring to me, and fucks with my head as it walks and talks like a GG game, but then the combo system is not what I want from a GG game.

I hope that it gets a lot of post-launch content though, it's important to keep the game alive for those who are seriously enjoying it.

The Insta Kills is probably the one feature I miss the most. I'm aware they decided to shift their animation development bucks somewhere else, but it's a damn shame that the Insta K.Os had to bite the dust for it. The regular OverDrives that we are left with are super hit or miss.

I don't think any amount of time or money could salvage the story tho. One way or another it's going to be anime sludge.

This is more a general FGC thing that about GG specifically, but has anyone noticed that the troon always come out to locals when an anime game comes out? It’s always those or retro shit.

Maybe I'm just dumb, but how am I supposed to do a special attack that uses up but stay on the ground?

DAISUKE DOES IT AGAIN

Also Goldlewis is pretty fun. GG is like the only fighting game that consistently puts out good new fighters. I have seen some distaste for the vocal tracks but I think they add great character insights.

Also fun fact the Blazblue Vocal tracks are sung by the same guy behind RULES OF NATURE in Metal Gear rising ReVengeance.

You don't need instant kills when raw wakeup supers do 50%. Sure guts is a thing but the damage in this game is fucking retarded and if there was one thing I think that could change that'd make it more interesting it'd be toning that down.

I'd love gatlings back but those are dead and gone.

I miss when Guilty Gear was just a fighting game you'd buy once and get all of the content, no 'seasons passes', and no DLC whoring. I am passing on this, I'll stick with XX, which is still my favorite of the series.

Thats literally every fighting game now. Even Skullgirls, a game thats been dead for years, has a season pass

I wanted to look into this game, but a bunch of people went off on me saying I need a fighting stick to play fighting games, and specific fighting stick components at that from a site called Focus Attack. I have little experience with fighting games.

It's really putting me off buying the game with the autism I've been bombarded with. Is that something I actually even need?

If you're used to sticks and can't live without them then yes, otherwise not really.

I ended up getting a shitty stick and found the controller to be more preferable.
The D-Pad on the Xbox One controller works really well and shoulder buttons are great to have. There are also Evo winners who use controllers so it's not really a big deal.

A lot of people use ps4 controllers. I use a keyboard and it works fine. The autism you encountered is just fighting game elitism that is present everywhere in fighting games.
