Half Life Alyx and Boneworks - The two VR games that dare to be different. Okay maybe just one, but still. AKA Floop’s shill thread.

Is VR the big gay?

If what they'll show on Thursday will be less impressionable that boneworks, it will be a total disgrace and loss of all remaining goodwill they had.
Stress Level Zero (the boneworks devs) are actually close with Valve.

Both Half life and Dragon's Lair get revived within the same week, holy shit.

I dunno are we out of Unicorns to chase in games? Shenmue 3 is coming, Final Fantasy 7 is getting a remake, everything is coming.

Maybe a new Lunar game is the next grail to strive for? Breath of Fire?

My eternal gaming white whale will be a new Silent Hill made by some of the original Team Silent staff, I've waited 15 long years for another "real" Silent Hill game.

It would be so easy for Konami to do what Capcom did for Devil May Cry and Namco did for Ace Combat and that's ignore all spin offs and return to the proper series with a new numbered entry, Silent Hill 5.

It's almost like they even purposely left that open for the original developers return considering every Silent Hill since 4 was "Silent Hill colon Whatever" rather than numbered.

Can we stop being gay in this thread? This is a new half life game for fucks sake.
yaaay a new Half Life featuring absolutely none of the creative talent behind the first few games and being made by a studio that's turned into a hat/skins shop for their various f2p games, this will totally be great and not at all a cash grab by a studio losing their relevance outside of their distribution platform

I think that one former valve dude leaking the end of the story disguised as a fanfic was pretty much the final nail in the coffin. Anything after that is most likely too little too late. They had, what, a decade and a half to give us literally anything? Instead they acted like it was a burden on them when consumers would ask them about it. I don’t know how we let businesses who thrive on our money to survive develope this sense of entitlement, but I’m certainly not going to help reinforce it. Fuck ‘em.

Okay that’s fair, but seriously a lot of people are so fucking skeptical about this game.
Rightfully so. I'm tentatively excited, but people are right to point out that most of the geniuses behind the old games are gone. A company's name being on something doesn't mean it's going to be good. However, I'm willing to wait until Thursday and see, it's just an announcement.

Man, I still feel bad about Mark Laidlaw.
He was excited enough about writing the Half-Life universe that he made his own fanfic twitter account, BreenGrub, and slowly fed out sidestory information purely for fun.

Releasing the hypothetical "ending" to Half-Life must have hurt him just as hard as it did for us to read it

Honestly, none that I can think of. Especially not to the magnitude/cliffhanger of something like Half-Life.

Baldur's Gate III's happening, Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines is getting a sequel, Kingdom Hearts 3 came and went, Beyond Good and Evil 2's entered development, Age of Empires IV got announced, fuckin' Microsoft Flight Simulator of all things is getting revived...the fuck else is there?
A new Legacy of Kain. Or at least a remake of Soul Reaver.

I think Mark Laidlaw has said that was just an idea he had that would’ve normally gone through multiple rewrites in the writing team, and he doesn’t necessarily consider it 100% canon
