I hope Crowbar Collective can finish full Xen release before HL VR comes out in March 2020. It's their last chance to beat Valve time!

Is that Alyx's original actress? I can't tell. It almost sounded like Kimberly Brooks at times.

Looks cool, but the wait has been so long that I don't really care much anymore. Emotionally speaking, it would be like if Berserk finished tomorrow: the ride has been too long.

The first two were great, and I'll watch to see if they can make lightning strike three times...but I'm too cynical to be free of doubt.

This is a Half Life game like that Moon rock mining game for VR that valve released was a Portal game.

This shot is really nice. They're adding so much "Raising The Bar" concept material. Maybe it's a situation where the Combine, after the seven-hour war, were testing out different designs of human soldiers before settling on the HL2 ones? It's a decent excuse to slap in concept art at least.

God I wish they'd release a M+KB version. Don't see why they couldn't just release the VR version first and then do a delayed mouse & keyboard later

it’s absolutely going to “flop” in the sense that it probably won’t make back its development cost in sales, but I think Valve is also more or less expecting that. They know that the vast majority of Steam users aren’t going to drop several hundred bucks on a VR headset just to play this, I doubt they’re expecting this to be a massive financial success.

And then Valve can "justifiably" shelve the HL property for all eternity because "Look, we made a Half-Life game and you people didn't buy it. There's no money to be made in creating a new Half Life game so quit asking."

Oh awesome disembodied hands that shake like you've got delirium tremens and teleport-to-move, voice actors that sound absolutely nothing like their original characters, and a g-man who looks like Joe Pesci in My Cousin Vinny. Yeah yeah valve more of this!

Source 2 finally getting released is really all I care about from all the recent news. I look forward to seeing the mods people make on it -- from shitty ones to actually amazing ones.
Hell, maybe someone can even remake Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines in it. It'd be fitting since that was a Source engine game.

Per their latest update on the game's community page they're done all the levels including Nihilanth and the ending sequence; all that's left is polishing and bug fixing. My guess* (*key word) is that Black Mesa will be fully done by March or April.

Maybe that's the plan?

I hope so because I hate that I can't play this, I love the world of Half-Life so much and I've waited over for a decade for an all new game, but I'm just not seeing a scenario where I can afford the VR gear, even used, between now and March.

I'd almost guarantee there will be a mouse and keyboard release if Valve plans on making money outside of selling the engine tech. It's only a question of time.

That's gonna depend on the extent to which the game is built for VR. None of the best VR games translate very well to M+K on a normal screen, if this ends up being a great VR game it's gonna end up needing some hefty revisions to work outside VR.

That sounds like work, and work isn't something Valve normally seems very fond of.

Really want to play it, but the cost of VR is pretty high considering that there isn't really much else to use it on

While it actually looks pretty interesting that it's more than just another VR minigame parading around as a game. Still feeling dubious over the fact that VR is still too expensive for me to consider and Valve's recent track record with their "games" is pretty bad. Let's hope for the best and expect the worst, maybe if this is a success that will actually motivate Valve to work on a sequel.

After seeing the trailer multiple times now, I stand by my earlier post, I am still hyped, but not 'pre-order now' hyped. It will all come down to motion control for me, teleporting is bad (H3 and Arizona Sunshine used teleporting exclusively and it always threw you into or past objects at the most inopportune times) so Im hoping the thumb disc on the Vive is workable.

Something feels off about this game. I feel like Valve is just testing the waters to see if its consumer base will still pay for a Half-Life product after being dicked around for so many years. If it does well, then they get to pretend that they really intended to make new games all along.
