No. Mental illness can be viewed objectively if you throw out the baggage and politics to view your mind from a functionalist perspective. A tendency to engage in maladaptive behaviors is a mental illness. Delusions are textbook maladaptive behaviors, and transgenderism is textbook delusion; from the average aiden to the 6'2" former world class athelete who believes he's a woman or a homeless programmer who believes he is a vessel of God and being gangstalked, they're delusions and they're all mentally ill.

Now it's perfectly fine for a society to decide what is acceptable to it and what is not and throughout history some societies have completely forbidden these types of practices while in others they have existed on the margins of that society. Drag has been part of western culture for a fucking long time, with artists and performers engaging in it for hundreds of years. British comedy is full of it, including the illustrious Monthy Python. But it was common even in renaissance fairs in the 16th century. The exploration of the female through the male is an artistic freedom I'm better off in having experienced, not worse.
