No one's arguing that it doesn't make sense, just that it's kind of boring because some of us were expecting more characterization from her other than "evil abusive wife."
I thought of something better than what I said that what if she was supposed to go to heaven as a new life but got sent to hell and is constantly in rage because of it

This is what happens when you over analyze and think too deep on a show that should be surface level.
The story probably wasn't planned at the beginning since you could tell this was originally supposed to be an episodic show instead of a story-driven one. The context of previous episodes either get lost or changed to fit the current narrative. I'll stop talking about the problems I have with the new episode as I already said enough about it in the thread. If anyone really wants to hear more of my ramblings on the subject, just dm and I'll be more than happy to talk your ear off.
Anyway, speaking of previous episodes, does anyone think the CHERUBS are going to come back this season or was that a one time thing? I thought they would have tried to make them be a foil for IMP in later episodes.

I assume we are going to see them again considering they got banished from Heaven, hell the secret finders bit was set up for a return as well considering Stolas was caught on tape.

I strongly suspect that Viv intended Hazbin to be the "deep thinker" show whereas Helluva was intended as a more episodic more light/comedic thing. Perhaps she changed her mind or whatever so now we have this awkward transition, or we are in some kind of arc that will end once Stolas and Blitzo get back together.

100% the CHERBUS are coming back, I'd also say the DHORKS will return as well (I want to see those two trying to invade Hell). We already know Striker returns for round two against Millie and Moxxie from the 2022 trailer.

While I think the CHERUB episode was the weakest episode thus far, I do actually like the concept of the CHERUBS as some kind of diametrically opposed group that are against the IMPs. Though considering how they've been kicked out of Heaven, Viv has a lot of room to decide on how to characterize them. Are they seeking revenge? Are they still trying to redeem people? Did they go native on Earth?

That's what I think happened. It's quite common for modern animation to start out more comedic and fun, and then completely change the tone so that it becomes more deep and serious. I knew that it was probably going to happen, I just didn't expect it to happen this quickly.
It almost reminds me of what (sorry to bring this show up) Steven Universe did in their future run, where previous episodes that were supposed to be funny are now "traumatizing" because Steven has poorly represented PTSD.

Why are you acting like Steven Universe is Voldemort?

I have to wonder if there is any possibility that Stolas simply won't get back together with Blitzo and will go off solo.

If you examine him from a top-down perspective, virtually every single relationship he has enjoyed has involved the other party taking advantage of him, with the sole exception of his daughter. His father used him for dynasty making, his "wife" has used him for political influence or just to defecate on him and Blitzo used him to steal from him on multiple occasions, or even just to spy on his subordinates.

I highly doubt Viv will go down this route. But it makes for an interesting thought

She's somehow weirdly obsessed with the fact that I like this show. I think she's some kind of a racist or a transphobe or just can't deal with the fact that I find a slutty spider kind of hot.
Given the "she came in here to defend monkey torture" comment, she's most likely projecting.

I started watching the first season again, including the pilot to refresh my memory. I never realized how much of a comedy this show was, even episode 2 which has its more serious moments.
Speaking of episode 2, I started noticing why I have problems with season 2 and why it didn't make sense. Especially with Octavia. Her saying that her parents didn't hate each other to begin with contradicts what Stolas said to Stella during the argument. If she really was abusing him this entire time, how come Octavia was completely oblivious to it? It could be argued that it was just that well hidden but I doubt that as we can see Stella has anger issues. Extreme anger issues at that. She's not the one to hide when she's upset unlike Stolas.
Speaking of Stolas, I've noticed that he's not one to read the atmosphere well...like at all. Even if someone is being blunt with him, he doesn't seem to notice until way after everything's been done. That's not to say it's exactly his fault; he had a pretty lonely childhood from what we saw so him not noticing if someone is unhappy or upset makes sense. We can see that with him taking Octavia to Loo Loo Land when she doesn't want to be there, or Blitz rejecting his sexual advances. He thinks this is what they want, when they clearly don't. Maybe he thinks he made things comfortable for Stella in his mind, but in reality he didn't.
This is all just speculation and I doubt this is the road they're going to take with this story, but it is an interesting thought.

I hope so, I utterly love those idiotic well-intentioned retards.

I had a bit of a realization about the new episode. It includes the "sorry I fucked your husband" scene from a different angle. This scene came from the Pilot, which is disputed as not being canon due to it being a pilot. Yet the flashback from the pilot is included in the main series, making it canon. This by extension implies that Loona does have syphilis canon-wise and that it wasn't a throwaway line for the pilot.

Eh, maybe I'm not enough of an intellectual but uppity Stella being a massive cunt and slinging insults like gutter trash cracked me up, along with Paimon and then drunk Stolas being such a needy slut while Blitzo just wanted the damn book. Also my basic bitch self thought the kid scenes were cute

Fuck Blitzo's dad though. No wonder he's so fucked up.

The only thing that really bothered me is that this seemed more like the third or fourth episode of a season. Why the season premier is a character study is fucking weird, and I think that's part of the reason why people feel it's a bit off

If it was played for laughs, I probably wouldn't have mind this episode so much if wasn't trying to be this "deep" character study that tries to make the audience see that he's the victim and he didn't do anything wrong.
Which is actually working because I've seen so many comments underneath the episode be like "poor baby birb. He deserves the world", "this isn't cheating. His wife a bitch and he just so lonely", "he best character ever. He just trying to make everyone happy". And the moment someone brings up a character (mostly Stella), wondering if we'll get an explanation on why they are the way they are, they all go "Doesn't matter what she did! She hurt Stolas, and whatever happened in the past doesn't justify what she does." Even though most people aren't trying to justify her actions and its a bit hypocritical when they justify how Stolas is because of his past. And they go on saying your victim-blaming and support abusers and what not, and I'm like whoa there! He's just a fictional horny British owl. No need to start raging.
But yes Paimon was the best thing to come out of this episode. I just couldn't get enough of him "trying to dad".

Oh, yeah. Stans are the fucking worst with their "MY FAVE IS COMPLETELY INNOCENT" shit. I noticed a lot of them also turned on Blitzo, crying that he used Stolas when... wasn't Stolas using him, too? Hell, most of their relationship in season 1 was Stolas crossing boundaries like they didn't exist. Hell, if you jotted down a list of what they've done to each other, Stolas is the one who's more "problematic", but he's a sad British uke so who cares. (I know stans are like "BUT HE DIDN'T KNOW BLITZO FELT LIKE A GLORIFIED DILDO!" But that still makes Stolas come across as self-absorbed and negligent of his partner's feelings, and considering how ignored his daughter felt, this is a legit character flaw and not one that can easily swept under the rug)

As for Stella, I understand why people feel cheated, but frankly I'm not invested enough in her to really care too much. However, her brother will show up this season, so maybe the reason she's messed up isn't so much Stolas (though he didn't help), but an incredibly fucked up family, which honestly sounds more realistic to me, and fits the theme of shitty parenting most of the characters have. From where I'm standing, it seems like she's always had anger issues, and obviously Stolas is the kind of gay who can't fake it with a woman, so add nearly two decades of really bad sex which alone could doom any relationship. She really needs to listen to Stolas and get the hell out. Get a fabulous yacht, stock it full of xanax and spend her days drinking cocktails and getting fucked by ripped hot dudes half her age, like any proper rich bitch with a gay hubby.
