Do you believe that this series will turn to shit?

Not sure why, but I always assumed Vaggie committed suicide. I think this was because she looked young and her year of death was 2014. Even excluding the 41%, there’s still a tragic number of young people killing themselves. But I’m obviously just overanalyzing a fucking cartoon.

Also, apparently, Alastor was an asexual serial killer who died in 1933. I can only assume he died Wayne Nance style, which would actually be fucking hilarious if Viv included that.

I wonder why the sinners are so young. I get that a lot of the sinners are 100+ but the overlords make a big deal (including Alastor, the old geezer of the series) over Zestial age and he's like 300-400 years old. Human history is way longer than that.

I like to think that most sinners are extremely lucky to make it past 200 years. Their bodies get too battered by other sinners and they are easy targets for the exterminator. That's also why they make deals with overlords. For protections from sinners and exterminator. I mean why else would you agree to be someone else's slave.

As for why the sinners are so young, I think the real answer is that Vivziepop has a limited knowledge/interest of human history. Most of the historical stuff on this show were televisized including Zestial accent. God, imagine if a history buff wrote this show instead of a fujo.

This is another intensely frustrating thing she missed out on.

One would expect a fucking shit ton of people we would call Chinese to be there. Plenty of Romans and some of their leaders, literally deified, everyone killed by the mongols - and the mongols - and of course a sizable amount of Indians. All these powerful influential people, all of those followers who would maintain loyalty in a hell like that, and Vivz did literally fuckall with it.

Are you KIDDING me!? Never mind how many people were killed in the world wars. Oh, and then there's that whole Communism thing that happened. Yes, let's have millions of fucking Communists running around hell, and stroke-free Lenin there to boot. You think he'd do something? Try something? Literally invulnerable people by the billions and billions, inexhaustible, also the imps. Nahh. Vivz had a huge fucking budget and probably got advice, solicited or otherwise, and just ignored it.

Imagine Lucifer as more than a goofy manlet. Imagine the Lucifer from literature we've all been exposed to, someone really fucking smart and cunning and conniving, someone who would cultivate China vs Mongols vs Romans vs Indian kings vs communists vs renaissance thinkers, all fucked up together, to entertain him, or see what system might actually work in the one place that you really can run such experiments. Billions of people with nothing to lose, and magically empowered geniuses from history who would certainly have deals and followers to empower them, would make for a hell (heh) of a setting, and probably a legitimate threat to the heaven of the Vivzieverse.

On the other hand, this is so far over her head or the heads of 99% of the viewers that it would almost certainly not be executed well, and if it was, it wouldn't be appreciated.

She's from El Salvador, yeah? Could easily cook up a story that would fit with both Vivzie's weird cosmology and the actual history of El Salvador:

She did Candomblé or Santeria, blah blah blah survival and the poor, got shot in the eye by the government or a gang or some shit.

So I'm caught up to 4 and I'd say it's not a bad show. Definitely flawed though. My biggest gripes are that
  1. Alastor is a gary stu and not nearly as cool or scary as the writers are desperately trying to convince us that he is.
  2. Way too many characters have the huge fanged mouths and formal wear design and it's getting repetitive.
  3. The worldbuilding is really weird in that Charlie is the (probably) nigh omnipotent princess of hell but people several magnitudes weaker and poorer than her try to push her around.
  4. Keith David is very much overqualified to be voicing Husk. I almost feel bad for him having to keep pace with Angel's dialogue which is all just terrible sex jokes.
Speaking of sex, I think 4 is probably one of the better episodes because it's the first time that all the constant references to sex and porn are taken seriously and the actors are therefore putting in actual effort to convey the emotions on display. The best way to describe it is that it's the first episode where I feel like I'm watching a show for adults and not just 13 year old Tumblr bloggers.

A hell where the overlords are Genghis Khan, Marcus Licinius Crassus, Gilles de Rais, and Joseph Stalin? Now that would be worth watching. Heck, if she wants twinks so much, throw in Elagabalus. Too bad it was written by a 95 IQ spic whose knowledge of the world doesn't go beyond 21st century pop culture.

I await the big retcon of Vaggie's origins based on the leak. Except more "pilots don't matter" coping from the fanbase.
It wouldn't be too terrible if the show actually put out the character's backstories instead of having them in old material. This is one of the reasons having these high stakes in season 1 is retarded, it should have mainly been focused on building up the core cast, some major villains like the Vees, and perhaps a couple major recurring characters like Lucifer and Cherri, it's a tried and true method of television that the first season of a serialized show is usually focused on character buildup so we care about them when the stakes are raised in the second season. When we get a rundown of Vaggie's backstory, there's one or two major inconsistencies to clue us in that she might be lying about something.

Even if Amazon didn't release that picture of Vaggie with wings identical to exterminator ones, episode 3 made the twist so blindly obvious even a child could recognize it, at this point you might as well play into it and make it a twist for characters and not the audience by having some nightmare sequence or something where Vaggie fears what might happen to her if her true origins are ever exposed.

Imagine if someone got interested in the show but has only seen what's on Amazon Prime, there's a good chance they successfully figured out 'Vaggie was probably one of the angels that kill Sinners, because she has a crossed out eye, an angelic spear, and did a whole military thing' but legitimately might not think that's supposed to be a twist because the show itself hasn't pointed out that as far as the characters are aware, she's just a Sinner.

NOOOOOOOOhohoho, stalker child. You see, Hell is like my heckin real world equivalent, where YES; muh wholesome communisterinos like Stalin and Lenin DO exist but they exist in the "Russian" part of Hell that has been colonized, much like the Romans and Chinamen have their portion of their hell reserved far off in the distance, which is why we only focus on the AMERICAN part of hell. Get your facts straight bigot stalker child, enjoy prison (in hell).
If this isn't partially how Helluvafans are gonna handwave why ethnic figures haven't showed up in Hell in the future, I would be very surprised.

I really love all of youse efforts to rewrite HH. There's so many possibilities just around angels being the only ones that can end hell residents. Potential historical warlords in hell being sacrificed once they get to big for their bridges, a potential black market for divine weaponry to target specific sinners, the very real possibility that since sinners can't permanently kill other sinners a weird economy grows around people sadomasochists.
If the hotel can legit save souls one may assume that angels can fall too, perhaps by abusing purges or simply by spending too much time in hell. What if JC or the boss above is the one that gave Charlie the idea subconsciously? What if Lucifer gave his daughter the idea in order to stick it out to his ex boss?
Alas, I've another 2019 pilot of dubious morality that already occupies my mind rent free.

It was mentioned pages back but the OG VAs put a song together called Thank You And Goodnight that has managed to rack some very good views. Allow me to tell you that unlike the old guard of this thread I never had much optimism about this show, it never won me over and at best, from the perspective of someone that is quite pissy about the many flops I've seen up close, I could give it my respect on the virtue of being an indie animation that made it.
My perspective isn't one of a hatewatcher or a disgruntled fan (that honour goes to someone else) of Hazbin Hotel, but I can call myself a fan of this song and of its performers. Maybe is still too wordy for the Broadway lyric purists among you, but I think the effort is still admirable. I've alluded a couple of times about how I'm familiar with the plights of the less known and forgotten people that sacrifice sleep, peace of mind and even their health to make someone else dream come true and I'm also very familiar with the fact that no matter how much of yourself you pour into those efforts you aren't above being cut because of a producer's whim.
In showbiz and media, everyone's replaceable. So I can tell you that every early morning that I discovered I had no job I wish I had half the class, dignity, grace and humour that these performers had.
We've had some laughs, had some fights, even some of us cried.
Cause there was love and joy and laughter. It's not perfect but we tried.
If you've never worked in this field you may get the impression that its exclusively snobs, narcs and rich kids playing pretend, but I can assure you that there are plenty of some of the most hardworking people you'll ever meet propping them up on the hope of one day getting their own day on the sun. In the indie scene this is tenfold and even if these fine performers won't admit it, I think they hoped that Viv was going to take them along to the big leagues after being the heart and soul of her project. There was this hearted comment about Viv giving everyone a fair shot that actually made me mad on account that Vaggie's VA and Brandon Rogers were able to skip the process and that the new, much more accomplished VAs are at best side grades to the OG cast. The only thing John Kricfalusi was right about was that Billy West set the industry back decades by siding with the suits and now we are seeing the opposite reaction.
Sucks to be a loser baby, we get to see you in a red carpet with a red dress (yikes) while we've to give classes in the community theatre and find side gigs just to stay afloat but from now on I'll keep a smile in my face knowing even if you are a nobody doing voicelines on YouTube for pennies you can still outclass a third gen threatre nepo baby and even Keith David. Thank You and Goodnight.

I've wondered this since 2018, but what happened to all the soldiers and world leaders that went to hell? I always assumed Tom Trench was a ww1 soldier who died, but Viv's obvious lack of interest in writing hell as anything more than an edgy red party makes it so boring of a setting, so the time periods in which the characters died seem basically irrelevant.

There is a good lore reason for that that I am sure the writers haven't thought of... human population.

Even a renowned sinner of their time will be seen as ill informed and ignorant within a century. New sinners would likely flock to more knowledgeable entities like the V's. There are also always larger and larger younger demographics in hell. Having every single person from the stone age following you would be less then having just the people who died in the past few years.

It isnt perfect as magic vs tech and magitech hasn't been explored but there are plausible reasons for why ancient demons don't perpetually gain power and followers.

See also: JonTron.
JonTron didn’t ignore his controversy tho. He made a response video then deleted it.

Not trying to play Devil’s advocate but these sorts of things have always existed in regards to pilots. Shit from Pilots almost always gets retconned. And even shit from first seasons of shows would get completely retconned.

You should see all the shit from The Andy Griffith Show that got Retconned from season 1 to the later seasons., you’d be surprised

@Sleepy Pink Muslim Queen You sound like you might be one of the old voice actors using a burner account here to vent your frustrations. Micheal Kovach if that’s you I just wanna say I’m sorry they did this to you and your fellow cast members, You and Stamper and Rice Pirate and all the internet VA’s have a lot more heart and soul in the 2019 Pilot than Keith David’s phoned in crap. At least you’ve still got Lackadaisy right?

I really like the "Poison" song, and together with the video, it portrays degeneracy as coping for abusive relationships well. I don't get how tumblristas can find it hot/sexual instead of being disturbed and feeling pity for Angel. Birds of a feather, I guess...
But between this and the "why is everyone in hell gay" meme, Viv accidentally being based is funny.

Sometimes it depends on what type of person you were when alive.

That one inventor from Helluva Boss managed to quickly get enough cash and break into their building to get a hit on his friend.

Ir's sorta funny how serial killers manage to become Overlords or become stronger in hell than while they were alive.

It should probably be akin to "the oldest the demon is, the more powerful they are", kind like Vampire the Masquerade with the oldest vampires being more powerful than those of a younger generation. Lucifer is the top dog because he was there at the very beginning and thus no other demon can compare.

I once wrote a concept of fictional Hell where it's treated as both a prison and rehabilitation center...through torture. It's fire and brimstone with a hierarch of sinners then demons then greater demons and then elder demons and then the devil at the top. When the sinner suffered enough, they are then escorted into a pit where they are to be dropped in so they reincarnate so they have a new shot at doing things "correctly" this time. They forget everything in their reset but a small part of them will always remember the torture and agony so they will be inclined towards doing the right choices this time. So Hell is there to punish you and "torture" you straight into the next life...it's harsh but it works.

This way Hell isn't overflowing and it's a cycle of new and old visitors. I unironically think this concept I made years ago is a better hell than what Vizzie came up with and it ties better to what Hell is suppose to be, a place of suffering and punishment with yet a small hope that shows there IS a point in all of it, a new chance.

Well, there was also the fact that in this, the devil is more like a title and the current holder is the wife of the last one that overthrew him and she usually presents herself as a sadistic red skinned giantess with black and yellow eyes and a black bikini (and yet she has her moments of humanity with specific characters) so I guess that part wouldn't fly on the industry
