Its especially ironic because helluva boss was supposed to be the goofy antics with no/less drama spinoff to hazbin hotel already. Now it needs their own comedy oriented spinoff bc the original became too dramatic.
On one hand, I'd like to believe Viv, in some shape or form, really does feel like her show's been dragging on for years—the fact all of what HB is now is just one whole Hallmark Channel special as a webseries. The fact people more than ever are losing interest. They can't take a privileged, LITERAL ROYALTY, completely entitled gay owl boy getting his way for the millionth time and tricking people into believing he's some "complex" character when he's just nothing but an emotionally unstable owl boy with familial issues that fans can most likely relate to. She's doing what other people complained about when they thought "HB being nothing but silly antics will make the show boring."—by making the show boring by making it be a ridiculous melodrama full of snot sniffling and heavy gaslighting.
And now, she's trying to gain those people back with these shorts. They're doing what many OG fans always thought the show would be. But this is all that we're getting. She knows that herself. She knows she has to continue The Stolas Show if she wants to continue having a rabid, equally unstable fanbase. I'm being very optimistic but when you see all these shorts and how each one seems to follow what the show was meant to be, you truly do start thinking and worrying if this is nothing but another gaslighting scene to trick people who were losing interest in HB or lost interest in it back into the show.
Drag them in before slapping them all in towards the latest HB episode, where there's a chance it may be a non-Stolas episode. Or, at least, an episode not focused on Stolas and his whiny antics and privileged demands.
I know I'm overanalyzing. I know. But when you think about Vivziepop for five seconds and know how she acts and how she treats her incredibly gullible fanbase, I mean... man, I can't help but throw in the rusty tinfoil hat. I'll still be enjoying the shorts, though. But recently I noticed how I tend to skip scenes more rather than fully look at them. I think my growing disinterest with the show has genuinely been affecting me recently. It's the only short where I've done that to, so I'm not too worried.
But yeah, staying cautiously optimistic about these shorts. Loving them but I know Viv's planning something.
