God forbid a gay guy is an offensive asshole and not the nicest person on Earth (or Hell in this case). Either way there's signs he cares about his friends at least a little bit, hinted by him trying to help Charlie when she is hurt by the failure of the hotel even though he in the end didn't do it, and his whole caring for Cherry Bomb thing.
He's endearing because he seems to be a kind of nice person deep down, he's entertaining, and he's hot. You may differ but I find it impossible to not like him. Either way I expect the following episodes to make him an even better character, he has got a lot of promise.
I'm still super skeptical about this actually turning out good, but i still do hope they are able to get a few characters right to make any world building plot oopsies a little more bearable.
( Like as much as SU annoys me, i do admit that they could nail good character moments at least.)

Endearing?

AD is the worst gay character I've seen in a good while. He's a massive asshole to his friends and people are expected to feel bad for him.
I mean... he IS in hell. We probably shouldn't expect anyone there to be a moral paragon.

Angel is funny, and for a show like this, that's the main thing I ask for.

I don’t count on it. HH and HB seem like they’re going to be big failures in the long run.

Yeah... unless Vivzie turns out to be Chris (OneyNG) levels of stubborn and doesn't cave in. On light of all the criticism from HH, she still made HB though, so maybe she is just thick skinned enough to not give a shit about the Tumblr/Twitter crowd feels.

I completely agree, but only because I've been burned by Vivienne once before....

Well aware that the show is in Hell and gay people can be mean and shallow pieces of shit. But the guy didn't have any redeeming qualities (to me adleast). The guy straight up lied to the people who let him live in their house/hotel and faces little consequences for it.

I think what makes me mad about it is that Charlie is somewhat of a push over for being the "Princess of Hell"....She should be pissed off but instead she's groveling in the corner of the limo while Vaggie just makes empty threats....

Did not get that impression watching the pilot and that music video. If anything that MV made me hate his guts more when he flipped Charlie off at the end. She tried to comfort him and he just walks off.....Pass the box of tissues please....

Get some standards....And I'm a disgusting weeb...

At the very least Charlie might be one.

Unless we're going to have one of those deals like that teacher in Helluva Boss.
Charlie is kind of a weird case because she was born in hell rather than being sent there, so she might not necessarily "deserve" to be there in the same way as, say, Alastor or Angel.

Actually, i never understood why people treat Charlie like shit to her face. It's like treating the royal family like shit to their faces rather then online or in gossip magazines lol.

In my mental reboot Charlie is either a novaeu rich with ties to some of hell's top dogs ( so hell doesn't respect her nor her family because they have been barely important)
Or she's a direct descent of ( fallen) Angels explaining some of her goody goody nature and potentially mistrust lol
Though i think Lucifer is the og fallen angel so that might already be implied in canon ( Does Lucifer still have soft spots? Lilith seems to and I'd like to see how the show explains why Charlie Ins't a total cunt) but otherwise I'd put more emphasises on her family being kinda of decent and in a world of sinners that makes them annoying to have around lol.

Or even if she was that important I would actually like people acting a whole deal more two faced and manipulative on the long run winch could establish how street cred can only go so far in hell ( e.g have Katie killjoy suck up to Charlie but the second she leaves the room, she's being a bitchy virulent homophobe- we could even get more nasty then her mere I don't touch the gays moment lol) as well as people have genuine concerns at what Charlie's Naive ideals could have in the fabric of hell itself.

Because it's hell (I know it seems like an excuse for anything in the show, but you wouldnt expect any characters to be nice there) and people there are already used to them being unforgivable. Compared to the implication that Lucifer is the most powerful demon in the show, she ends up looking weak and like a disgrace to her family, so I'd say it's about right. The idea of having manipulative characters is cool but it'd be refreshing to have something more straightforward for once.

I feel personally is kindaaa bullshit but if they played up Charlie as being basically a thrust fund baby with nothing on her actual name i could see this being...possible?

And i ain't even talking about people being genuinely nice to Charlie- I'm talking about run of the mill pragmatism; as in don't risk stepping on the toes of wrong people if you can actually die again/ get injured.

As of now it's one of the things I have the hardest time suspending my disbelief and i do hope it's tweaked and refined or explained

Isn’t it also shown that Charlie’s likely more-or-less unsupported by her parents, maybe even disowned to someone extent, considering the opening cutout show depicts a Charlie-looking figure being turned away by demons that look similar to her parents, there’s a portrait of Charlie’s family in the dilapidated building she’s using for her hotel that suggests that either the property is something her parents previously owned but didn’t want or they shed no tears parting with the painting itself, is supporting the hotel entirely out of pocket and clearly doesn’t have a lot of wealth on her own, and Charlie’s mom not only doesn’t return her calls but is mentioned to have called Charlie a failure multiple times to her face and told her the hotel was a stupid pipe dream?

That doesn’t exactly sound like the kind of family dynamic that would care that their "Princess" in seemingly name only is being given a hard time by the underworld media for trying to get what is considered to be nothing but a doomed passion project off the ground.

Tbh if this does get flesh out or is explored along the way i actually could see this work tbh.

It was the best alternative that i was also kinda of pondering lol. Her basically being disowned from her family ( or at least her father-) and having to actually put some elbow grease to make this shit even work

I highly recommend reading his comic if you want a more in-depth look at Alastor. He's easily the most compelling character so far. When we get around to seeing his past (which was confirmed to eventually happen) I'm sure it'll explain a lot.
I’ll fully admit I avoid the side comics like the plague because I fear the series will go down the path of skipping over covering plot points and character details that are essential to understanding what’s going on because they were already shown in the comics in a manner I’ve seen waaau to many webcomics do, and that’s not a habit I want to encourage, but I bit the bullet and took a look.

Seems like another part of Alastor is that he’s going have an “It’s lonely at the top” thing going with how his reputation makes most mundane interactions proceeding without incident impossible, which I’m a little on the fence about since I’m not sure that’s as interesting as the potential of his either being against Charlie’s redemption either because he fears what that would imply or because he favors the status quo of violent retribution for personal reasons.

I also got curious about his name because it sounded familiar, and I found that while the more commonly spelled “Alastair” roughly translates to “repeller of (evil) men” the spelling “Alastor” was commonly added as an epithet to many Greek gods when they were acting as a driver of vengeance (most commonly Zeus, where it referred to vengeance against familial murder specifically) and was later adopted to refer to any spirit of vengeance, specifically against cruel men, and then finally adopted as a title for demons who posses people to take revenge on those who wronged the possessed person through bloody killing sprees.

Which certainly fits with what we’ve been shown and everyone’s speculations so far.

Tbh I'd make alastor's human name Aleister as a reference to the etymology.

I haven't read the comic but know roughly what happened in it

Lucifer, yes, but not so much Lilith. Charlie calling and confiding in her (“I could really use some advice, Mom”) implies she at least supports Charlie and doesn't ridicule her idea. Lilith is Hell's most famous singer and currently on tour, so she isn't not responding to Charlie's calls out of negligence, she's busy. Lucifer is the one who criticized her. His silhouette looming over her in the cardboard cutout sequence while she sings “why have I always been a failure” kinda speaks for itself.

I don't remember this very well. I skipped the musical scenes a lot after the first watch because I hate them. It's why The Simpsons comes off as boring and dated when they do them, although that has to do with the culture I was raised in too probably.

At least it's big enough for AUs and fanfics so there must be some peeps who can get it right :"(
I wouldn’t count on it; AUs are usually only liked because they’re super indulgent rather than actually being good.

I’m counting the days for this to blow up in Viv’s face. It’s gotten to the point that reboots are the only thing keeping Western animation alive.
I completely agree, but only because I've been burned by Vivienne once before....

Before you get to mentally rebooting anything, Viv actually addressed this. See Hell being what it is, the denizens don’t give respect to anyone, even royalty. In Lucifer’s case, any respect given to him is out of fear. Since Charlie is more about making friends than striking fear, leading to people to walk over her.
Hence Lucifer’s words, “You don’t take shit from other demons.”

So something I noticed in helluva boss regarding the murderous family.

Ok vivie has gone on record gleefully saying she's glad John k's life is pretty much ruined thanks to the loose lips of the me too movement coming for him. And yet the big titied blonde and square head box body dad wouldn't be too out of place on one of Johnny boys cartoons.

Huh makes me wonder if she secretly still admires him or at the very least his style...or is jealous of him. After all say what you want about the man but when all is said and done he's still accomplished far more over the last almost 30 years than she has in three.
