Do you believe that this series will turn to shit?

I'm on episode 2 right now and there are two characters that I want to make mention of:
Of all the characters in the show I've seen, Octavia and Stolas are by far the most interesting, but the problem is that I have no clue if this is somehow a result of bad writing flowing full circle, if this is missed potential, or if this completely intended and this is what Vivienne Madrano wanted them to be interpreted as. Or if my autistic mind is just reading too deeply into shit again like it sometimes does. It's been established in some episodes that majority of the time hell is portrayed as irredeemably evil and full of vice and sin and the characters themselves, as Madrano said in an interview, are supposed to represent the worst side of people. Yet to see Stolas acting like a caring father to her daughter and express remorse for his actions feels uncharacteristic for a demon which is surprisingly very interesting characterization. To see Octavia pine after marriage harmony and wants to see her parents happy together and a shred of her desperately wants to find common ground despite her being an angsty bitch who finds no appreciation in anything her father and she was raised in a world where misery and vice is basically the norm is surprisingly interesting.

The problem with this as I mention is I have no idea if this is the unintentional result of bad writing because she's shoving real world issues and motives that don't make sense into a show that's about nihilistic and hedonistic slapstick with violence and sex, or if this is completely intentional and she wants to show that even in a world full of evil, there are characters who pine after good or to pine after being better people. Which is actually kind of a cool concept on paper; demons who aren't inherently evil and devoid of human traits that would define us as good. I think Demon Slayer had the same theme in that show, but I've never watched it.

I could also be looking into this way too deeply because that's what I sometimes do when I'm watching something I'm not enjoying; I look for at least some form of a positive. And this one seems like one to me, but I can't really tell. I may need to take a step back and understand that this is just surface level and I'm only making up nuance in my head.

The shittiest humans go to hell, yes. But there are also characters that are born and raised in hell rather than being humans first, if that helps. And yes, there have been hints that heaven is bulling some shady shit in terms of their judgement.

Essentially yes it's intentional, hellborn (imps, the owls, hellhounds) are the equivalent to normal people, the humans we see are the lowest of the low as they are destined for hell/already there. The behaviour of the hellborn is influenced by the fact their lives interact with the worst of humanity but as far as we can tell they aren't inherently evil.

It seems like they're reducing some of the more rococo aspects of characters to make them more easy to animate, considering they're probably outsourcing that shit. Is this going to be full Toon Boom or something?

Didn't they outsource the majority of the Hazbin pilot to rando's on the internet which is why it took so long? The animation is already rough in many cases, probably because of staff and time.

Good news! The second part is almost done, so have some furries.

The good parts are really elaborate and would have been very time-consuming, like for instance the dance number with Alastor and Charlie. I'm not sure how it was done but it had a really nice aesthetic to it and I'm a sucker for Fleischer Bros. allusions. They've pulled that in HB, too, like the hallucinatory nightmare in Truth Seekers.

Anyway, Vivz seems really addicted to that kind of thing, or detailed choreography that's more like Busby Berkeley shit than a cartoon. That kind of stuff is time-consuming no matter how much technology you have, so simplifying the character models themselves makes sense from an ergonomic perspective. After all, they're now paying union rates for at least some of this shit they had randos doing.

Usually that whole "do it cheap for exposure" stuff is a ripoff but I seriously suspect anyone who was in on that pilot is going to have that as part of their resume for the rest of their lives.

Also I was looking at Stolas' design and I thought he probably had the coolest looking design in the show, but it also gave me some deja vu for some reason. So I decided to look up some art from another game or show I used to watch and this might be why:

It's essentially an even more over designed Hollow Knight boss. No I'm not accusing her of outright plagiarism, but I wonder if that's where she drew the inspiration.

Sam Haft (the songwriter for most of the songs in Helluva Boss and A24’s Hazbin) getting a bigger spotlight among Vivzie’s crew is funny because he might actually have the most insufferably insane Twitter account I’ve seen from any of these guys.

Like the dude is genuinely out of touch with reality on top of being a weird narcissist with a bizarre attachment to the entertainment industry if these tweets are anything to go by.
