Correct. Lucifer is depicted as handsome in many iterations, so I've always thought his design was perfectly fine. He's dapper yet clearly sinister, plus he's even got the snake and apple in his hat.
Indeed the image of the devil being a goat man with hooves and horns was co opted from later mythology in say the medieval and Renaissance eras. It would make sense to have him more human like and dapper. Even as far as the Bible goes he's not inherently evil so much as he's a tragic fallen figure. Man has the opportunity to redeem himself (in life as far as he hevean in this series is concerned) lucifer does not and never will have that chance, he made his bed so he has to lay in it.

He wouldn’t be the first demon in the show to look human but clearly hiding their more sonic form. Alistor hinted at his in the pilot with the “I would have done so already” bit.

Why is Alastor so powerful despite being a mortal soul?

Do we have an "I'm your father Luke" moment coming?

They seem eerily similar, not just in appearance, but in their open contempt for Charlie's whole moral philosophy.

Maybe “amount of sin + lack of guilt about said sin” equals power in hell? Human Allistor was a pretty well known serial killer, as I recall.

Allistor will probably be a means by which Charlie works through her parental issues though, I’d imagine.

Why are you spelling his name that way? Yes, from the show and the other materials, he has some sort of moral system, even if it's bizarre and incomprehensible by conventional moral standards.

He sees in Charlie something like his own ideals. He may (and openly does) view them as idiotic and even stupid, but he somehow sees a kindred soul in Charlie.

She may have idiotic beliefs that he laughs at, but the mere fact of even having beliefs at all touches him in his soul.

It’s been a while since I’ve seen his name spelled out and I was too lazy to look it up.

That would only make sense if alastor was meant to be the biblical antichrist. And if he was he failed his objective entirely. Personally I think he's just a fan of the big cheese mr. Morningstar, and as a result co opted a lot of his modis operandi in hell. Being red, making bum deals, even the horns thing.

WHEEEEEEEZE

We also see that in the pilot with actual serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer. Guy is practically treated like an a list celebrity, was a remorseless killer and cannibal (and a flaming homo but the anchors were actually willing to look past that)

I actually found that hilarious. Katie Killjoy is such a fucking cunt, literally says "we don't touch the gays" and then admits the only reason Charlie is on is because Dahmer couldn't show up.

I wonder who broke her neck, because that's apparently how she died.

You know...I've often wondered why would anyone simp for stella...then I remembered that simps who thirstpost for countess Alcina Dimitrescu (resident evil village) exist, and well they're almost the same character. Tall, possibly muscular women in white with anger/attitude issues.

Edit: it's the only image I can find..but I rest my case.

TL;DR: In this poster's opinion, Vivz' style/humor has gotten less unique over the years and said poster is more bewildered than disappointed.

I can strangely relate to that kind of indescriptible moral compass. Angel Dust might be best boy but Alastor is best character.

Especially true for Charlie even though shes clearly a Hellboy ripoff.

Eeh I get where the guy is coming from but I kinda see this more like Viv trying to find the right style for the show. If Viv was to stick with her old style I could imagine it being way more of a pain to animate these character's.

I mean, they're not necessarily wrong. Her style has toned down a ton and become less original but some of it is likely for animation reasons.

Time to give my opinion on the whole situation.

First off the (re)design of Lucifer: It's fine. It's just generic and well, boring. Like, I wouldn't know this was the ruler of Hell if I didn't follow this show from the beginning. He really just comes off as a background character and he melts in with the rest of the cast. Maybe I'm just tired of twinks with toothy, big smiles though...
Also, the reason behind why this got so big on Twitter was because people outside of the Fandom saw this design. Not knowing anything about Viv's style or lore, you can expect a whole slew of negative feedback and joke because, as I said before, this isn't what you would expect what Lucifer is supposed to look like. This goes into my second point...

Viv's response: I thought she would be used to this by now but I guess not. She's already in her 30s and if she continues to have mental breakdowns from negative criticisms, she's not going to last long in this sort of business. She really needs to realize that venting about these issues on Twitter is not going to help and that she should really be seeking a therapist if this is really a problem.
