Except that makes no sense since Charlie is more powerful than Vaggie from what I recall.

Canon Vaggie is obcessed with protecting Charlie regardless if charlie is stronger than her or not so it doesnt matter by default. This isnt really about "powerlevels", it's about """dynamics""". Artists also like it cause it gives them an excuse to draw one of the characters in suits.

The more I think about, was there a reason why Moxxie loves Millie? Looking at the shipping tropes Vivzie likes, they seem to be a combination of the goofy partners in crime and the Gomez/Morticia dynamic. Maybe it was back in the first season or the the camp episode and I just forgot.

Moxie and millie feels like the "Super strong woman X dork loser that loves her" ship trope.

And before someone says moxie would be too competent for that, he hasnt been treated well in a while. The mafia episode had him useless while Millie beats every shark and the camp episode made him a manchild.

It's clear vivzie wanted Moxie to be a loser so rule of funny/shipping dictates he needs a competent pretty wife. The problem is that shits on Moxie too hard and gives millie nothing else so it isnt that fun or interesting to watch.

That reminds me, if I remember correctly back in the pilot of Hellva-Boss. They accidently kill some random kid and later on Moxie cuts the kid into pieces with Blitz-o with no objections on Moxie's part but in episode 1 Moxie all of sudden is object to killing kids. So..Ummm, yeah. Vivzie's writing might not be the best.

Goldfish writing

Also Viv is a fraud

W-well... that was the pilot so it doesn't count! :smug:

Her so vehemently disavowing the only good bits of writing from her pilots signals to me that she didn't actually have nearly as much of a hand in writing them as she does now. And she is mad salty that people prefer them to her more recent, and more directly from her own hand, slop.

Oh yeah definitely, but I don't think it goes that deep. I just think she forgot all of the shit the other guy wrote for the pilot or never actually retained any of it and went ahead with her own internal canon.

Look at George Lucas. The second he didn’t have people telling him “no George that’s retarded stop it” his movies sucked (the prequels)
At least he actually had the sense to STFU for a while and let people who knew what they were doing carry out his actually pretty good Big Ideas before he came back for a second trilogy of terrible bullshit, which still looks good in retrospect compared to Disney's Soy Wars.

Vivz speedran running it into the ground in between the pilot and the first episode, which is almost impressive.

Viv can’t commit to creating morally dark/ambiguous characters because deep inside she has the mind of a Disney adult and has absolutely no concept of nuance. Charlie, the Princess of Hell, is based on Disney princesses for fucks sake! A goddamn heir to the Kingdom of Hell has the personality of an uwu naive teenage girl even though she’s an adult. Viv never had to grow up. It’s why she melts down when people criticize her work and offer suggestions. She’s a woman-child who knows nothing about character development outside of Tumblr, where daddy issues and gay fetishism must make her feel right at home.

Hazbin Hotel is a painfully stupid, trite current-year show and people outside of Cluster B teen girls and women are waking up and realizing that.

Just remember if youever think your dreams are too hard or out of reach, remember that money talks.
Just remember; if your writing skills are one of worse in modern day shows, only work on the art. Good art can make most things look well-made on the surface.

You know there's a certain writing style or writing trope I'm seeing from primarily millennial writers that I really fucking hate and it needs to stop. I'm sick of characters explaining to themselves, to each other, or to the audience what their themes, traits, and character concepts are. I have no idea if this is because millennial writers are fucking stupid or if they're paranoid that people who watch and read their stuff are stupid. It's probably both and Vivzie really strikes me as someone who is really fucking stupid.

"Angeldust, what the hell are you doing here?"
*Angeldust is standing next to a strip club*
"This is my domain, my escape, this is the source of all my trauma! Right where the abuse and the beatings took place. I'm such a fuck up."

It makes me mad at the internet.

I agree but, dude, you are watching a modern show that has an autistic number of musicals made by a theater kid. That's like going to a BBQ and expecting the best salad of your life.

I actually hate this trope so fucking much and I hate that these retards try to justify this writing as some sort of get-back at men always writing women as trophies... except that is not true if you actually pay attention to popular stories of the time going back a hundred years or more. People can be strong, people can be weak. It is a fact of life.

Hell, I watched The Descent two days ago. A very good movie, about a group of ladies spelunking in a cave and getting trapped in the darkness. All female cast, but it wasn't feminist. It wasn't trying to empower women. It treats the characters as real people, you get to see the decent and depraved side of these women but doesn't indulge in generalizing behaviors beyond "this is what we, as humanity, are capable of, both good and bad". In my opinion it's like a female version of The Thing 1982(barring obvious differences).

So when you delude yourself that this type of infantilization and humiliation is necessary as retribution to nobody in particular, you fuck up your story, you alienate the audience, you send ripples that tear the industry apart - and then you still cry foul for perceived injustice.

If the cabal of women-haters seeking to downplay their importance in the arts industry was real, we would only see quality works of art from men, all women would be sequestered into their own dedicated demographic where they make inane romance stories that aim to degrade their minds and encourage fetishization of their worst desir- oh...

Well played, Klaus Schwab.

It's shitty sitcom writing really. For a long time now all sitcoms have had a father that's an idiot and a mother that runs the family, however, the big difference is that in sitcoms the father is generally good with the kids so him being a goof has some redeeming qualities even if it's feeding into an agenda. The problem is people like Vivz will never have kids so they won't write that into the script and it just turns the trope into a mean spirited thing.

It's kind of like how Homer Simpson was originally very flawed but loved his family and later down the line he was just a dipshit.

I know, but it feels like it’s everywhere. Baldur’s Gate 3 has this issue, Pathfinder WoTR has characters spilling their guts out for no reason, Bojack Horseman has this issue, it feels like it’s everywhere.

At one point doesn't husk literally outright exposit the character traits of everyone in the room? I don't remember if it was the series or the pilot. I remember that he literally points to charlie and goes "You have daddy issues."
