This is a great breakdown.

And honestly the melodramatic playground romance just isn't a good plot point considering the shows nature, even if it was properly executed. The show is about silly and edgy violent hellspawn bounty hunters, and the intended target audience is adults. I feel like Vivienne/the writers got lost in the sauce and forgot who their audience is, or the writers wrote themselves in circles and didn't know where to go with it. The plot has been lost.

The lost plot is is really odd because Season 1 brought up many interesting plot points that I thought would have more impact on the show. What about when the humans discovered that demons and hell are actually real, and this being against Hell's code or whatever you'd like to call it? This would have been an infinitely more interesting major plot point than the romance bullshit.

There is beauty in simplicity at character design indeed. I think the concept of "K.I.S.S." (Keep It Simple, Stupid) works wonders. Anyone remember the "Sparkledogs", the assault on people's eyes? Beelzebub sort of reminds me of that.

Always remember to limit the number of primary colors when designing a character.

The lost plot is is really odd because Season 1 brought up many interesting plot points that I thought would have more impact on the show. What about when the humans discovered that demons and hell are actually real, and this being against Hell's code or whatever you'd like to call it? This would have been an infinitely more interesting major plot point than the romance bullshit.

I thought a lot about this too ever since I began delving into some of the essays - this would give creedence to Christianity and its ideas (mainly Catholicism and I'd say Orthodoxy) in the world created by the cartoon and how this affects things. I will say that what striked me particularly the most was Ralphie, Martha, their children and suddenly the inclusion of Mayberry. Was the murder family supposed to be thing of "Hail Satan" type just to die only to then retcon the dykes for good girl points? Even then, the DHORKS organization should have a resourceful backup and they would crush IMP, spiritually speaking (and we can't have that on our fujoshi cartoon, can we?) Perhaps this would get Lucifer's attention and even God's. This would make for their crossover potential very embarrassing but with lots of confrontation between the rulers or whatever the fuck this works.

But knowing how the writing team said "fuck it", they'll probably say fuck it and would have Lucifer get pregnant from Stolas or something. And Alastor would eat someone's brain and get Kuru.

I will not be satisfied. Then again, I am not that much invested, I just decided to break the ice and finally see what's the big deal, instead of relying on the "mystery of not watching it". It really is that bad. This show is making HOTD S2 seem like a masterpiece in comparison, and dare I fucking say GoT S8 almost.

Also how the hell did they make a character like Striker so interesting only to "tame down" his concept? Seriously? Are they afraid he will drive people away from the show? People shouldn't be afraid of creating characters and giving up on them mid way. Adam "was" an asshole but I could see him being funny in the long game.

That's just the way it goes. Every character that was introduced in season 1 had potential to be complex and interesting to watch. I wasn't the biggest fan of the direction the show was going in the last few episodes of that season, but there was definitely a proper set-up for this dramatic turn. Then season 2 came along, and any potential that was there immediately went down the drain. All the more important and interesting parts of the world and lore was forgotten about, retcon, or not explained well. Any antagonist that may had made a good point was pushed aside, because you can't have the audience even remotely agreeing with them on anything they stand for. Any supposed "good" characters' flaws were immediately squashed out, or shown to be not as bad. Because the audience is too brain dead (at least to Viv...and probably there are some brain dead individualsin the fandom) to realize which characters you're supposed to be rooting for. Take any character from the first season (minus the Queen Bee episode), and compare them to their second season counterpart. Even the ones that aren't shown as much I'm the first season. It's amazing how much of a contrast there is.

The entire thing with HH/HB is it's missed potential. It has it's animation and it's fanbase to keep the fumes going. But to the general audiences, and those former fans who slowly registered the rot behind the writing, worldbuilding etc... Can only view the series through a critical lens. These glaring issues become more and more apparent each release. It's no longer fun to watch, there's nothing shocking or risky done with either show's premise.

Wouldn't it be interesting if Stolas were the villain? He's completely aware of what he's doing to Blitzo, but he's clinging to him because this pathetic imp is the only semblance of power he has left in his life? His crumbling empire?

What if instead of endless intrigue, Alastor is there to help the hotel (instead of HEE HEE I WANNA WATCH EVERYONE STRUGGLE AND SUFFER) They can keep that too, but have that be a semblance of his character where he plays both sides. He causes misery for his enjoyment, whilst pretending to be Charlie's "father figure." It's hell. Why can't Alastor be a raging sexist? homophobic? Or racist? What makes him terrifying? Is he supposed to be loved or hated?

Charlie needs to know rehabilitation is possible and not be so fucking naive. She could strive to be a better ruler. Everything is on her shoulders. (I'd cut Lucifer. He's essentially useless in the long run.) It'd be interesting if before Vagina met Charlie, she was (and still is) a warlord, that wants revenge on heaven for casting her out. She doesn't understand Charlie's ideals but joins her if it means getting closer to her goal.

Make Millie's sister part of the IMP cast. That's what I honestly thought they were going to do in that episode. They could even make Millie's one trait that "she fights good" be a hindrance where she's the most violent and overprotective. She could accidentally endanger her team on missions.

These are very surface level ideas. Vivziepop and her team can come up with much better concepts and stories if they weren't so focused on the aesthetics on what makes a good show, a good show. All that the audience is left with is something shallow and confused.

Obviously, Spindlehorse and Viv seem to be closer to Hollywood than Channel Awesome's web only production, but do you think it would be possible? If so, how likely do you think it could happen?

So it appears Kevin Del Aguila will be the voice actor for Baxter, instead of Richard Horvitz which most were theorizing. I didn't really think Richard Horvitz was going to be Baxter anyway since Viv was really into having Broadway people for the majority of the cast. I'm also kind of happy that Rachard isn't voicing Baxter, since rumor has it that the only reason Viv got Richard to voice Moxxie in the first place was because she promised he could have a hand in Moxxie's character. And I really do believe that we would have gotten a Moxxie 2.0.

Stuff like "Lilith" being created is highly debatable, absence of Jesus, God & Holy Spirit, Hell isn't a place of torture of irredemable souls but rather party, drugs and debauchery, etc etc etc. Just overall to keep an eye out.

To be fair, despite Sallie being boring, having no personality and smelling like hоg аss, I’m still glad that Brandon’s queer friends can be employed and Vivzie can get away with the transphobic accusations. Also, I appreciated the nice touch in that short - all trans people I've ever crossed smelled like hog аss.

That's the good thing. It basically tells you how to not represent Christian theology, which is something I'm sure many people have realized. Christianity can be explored on numerous levels. Different ways to represent God. Different ways to represent the more well known events in the Bible. Different ways to represent Adam, the Disciples, St. Peter, Eve, Moses, Jonas, Samson, Daniel and Goliath even.

Is it that troublesome to respect a religion, Vivzie? Is it that hard to be respectful with the source material you're using? It shouldn't be! You can criticize religion in your show but you can't criticize it if you know next to nothing about it other than what you know within its surface levels (and even then you failed tremendously at that!).

We don't know what Hell/Heaven actually looks like. We don't know what God actually looks like, so it's always fun seeing different visions on what God/Heaven/Hell is from someone's own lens. It could be inspired from the Bible or just something entirely new like how Vivziepop worked with it.

There's a reason I was so enthralled with Vivziepop's worldbuilding. It was a different way of viewing Hell/Heaven and the people that live there. But all in the end, you're in a wave of disappointment when you realize Heaven in Vivzie's world is just Hell but nicer. Heaven is no different from Hell minus the debauchery, death, all of that jank. You realize Heaven in her world feels so... empty. Heaven is less shown than Hell is shown! What do we know about how Hell looks? Nothing! We barely know squat and everything else is just said from her streams or Twitter posts. I've never seen such an underperformed world. Woman, you had YEARS to develop this. YEARS. Just to BARELY show any of it.

I am still upset. I shouldn't be but I am. Someone please recommend me any shows/franchises/movies that interpret God/Heaven/Hell in an interesting interpretation. Please show me any of them that's actually developed and explained and didn't scrap it aside for some shoehorned Heaven vs Hell subplot. I beg.
