It doesn't even have to be respectful to the source to be interesting. I myself have never read the Mortal Instruments series but to my understanding its worldbuilding, its lore, its everything is a direct and intentional affront to Christianity. It doesn't sound like something I would like because YA is trash, but it was fairly popular when it came out.Is it that hard to respect a religion, Vivzie? Is it that hard to be respectful with the source material you're using?
SMT is one of the greatest series ever made and their portrayal of Abrahamic myth and God is the source of a ridiculous amount of petty seethe from Christians.
William Blake made up his own Gnostic/Christian/Schizophrenia-inspired mythology wherein God (Urizen) is a cruel and short-sighted demiurge and that shit's endlessly fascinating.
Personally, I don't think Vivz even needed to create a detailed depiction of Hell. All she needed was to make Foster's Home For Imaginary Friends mixed with The Screwtape Letters and a little bit of Fawlty Towers.
