He Man Reboot Announced

Tbh the 40k thing is fascinating. Fans of it are not necessarily unironic when they praise the God Emperor.
The thing that makes Warhammer so much fun is the fact that the fans take it super seriously while simultaneously not taking any of it seriously at all. Woke ideology will NOT work in Warhammer because The Emperor is literally The Patriarchy. I'm just glad that GW has realized this, and since 40K is on the verge of going mainstream (but not quite there yet) they are definitely NOT going to fuck with the people who have been spending thousands on their minis, paints, and novels for 35 years.

I would say Kevin Smith kicked a hornets nest.

That critic to audience score difference is something else lol

It's a quasi religion in its own right built into the fan base and that alone makes it intensely resistant to the current cultural push. You can tell GW despises it, since the whole Imperial Creed and so on was supposed to be a huge parody, not something worthy of veneration.
The main thesis of 40K is that the Imperial Creed/Cult/Ecclesiarchy is literally the exact opposite of what The Emperor want for humanity. He literally punished people who viewed him as a god, but the moment he was interred on the golden throne, everyone started openly worshipping him and creating churches in his name.

This distribution for the new line is bad. The long wait for new product releases has already made the line lose shelf space at target. It was replaced by space jam.

Mattel did not learn from the mistakes it made with the 2000s line. They flooded stores with just He-man and Skeletor again. Trying to find anything else is a frustrating experience. You either have to haunt toy aisles or check sites constantly to see if stuff goes back in stock.

I will be very surprised if it lasts past the holiday season since Origins was intended to prime the pump for the new kiddie He-man and the Master of the Univese line and cartoon.

Which looks meh.
That is 200x all over again, if they want to make real coin they’d reissue the MOTU Classics line.

Origins has been doing well from what I’ve seen, affordable, options, vehicles, playset and it looks….. fun. If I was a kid in this day and age (god forbid) I’d ask for “He-Mans” for Christmas.

Fisto is proof that the gay guys who wrote He-Man in the 80s were clever as fuck, and actually pretty funny.
Is this a meme or is it actually true?

A lot of things in He-Man haven’t aged well and there’s been so many jokes about them but I sincerely hope that Lou Scheimer and the people around him weren’t closeted fags.

I wouldn’t be surprised if a few people who worked on He-Man (and She-Ra) were fags but the idea that it was a large majority of them is just horrifying to me.

I wonder if Mighty Max will ever get a reboot...
Yeah and it'll be called Mighty Maxine.

Since all I've heard about this show is negative, I think I'll just watch the original series since i have it on DVD somewhere.
Give the 2000s version a chance too, at least the first couple of episodes at any rate.

200x series is good, that Skeletor origin episode is the best though. Especially when you consider that despite being half-brother to Randor (He-Man’s dad, the King) he is essentially the Eternian equivalent to a nigger. Let me say that again, Skeletor was treated like shit and became an evil overlord because Randor’s dad went blue and liked the hue.

Real Talk: The best He-man toy line out right now is the building blocks. They even have a flocked panthor.

Is it so fucking hard to deliver a reboot or remake in this modern day and age that DOESN'T completely shit on the fans? Like, shit.

Does every female lead nowadays either have to be Star Butterfly levels of annoyingly quirky, or Batwoman levels of "FUCK YOU MEN I HATE YOU"?

This kind of bullshit always leads to culture war nonsense, where uppity hipster faggot critics rate the show 10/10 because it makes muh bigoted manbabies mad, meanwhile the fans of the show (alongside some people who are only there for the outrage sparks, let's be honest) rightfully hate it. But after wording it that way, I can see why Smith and Netflix do this shit so often. This culture war bullshit wins critics over big time and gets more people talking about the show. Then you have people on Twitter who pretend to like the show because it goes against those meany misogynist manbabies who hate the show ONLY because they're misogynist and nothing else.

Fucking hell, at least don't waste the talent of Powerhouse on this.
Episode 1 is literally a bait and switch. Everything promising more classic He-Man is from episode 1.
That's the fucking worst part. No, we can't have a good He-Man series, we have to have some stupid edgy "subversive" hipster shit, just like every shitty reboot that goes..."What if protagonist...was bad??!!" and everyone else spends the show in indignant melodrama rage. Somehow, intentionally pissing off fans of the original is good writing. "Subverting expectations" is such a damn crutch.

Literally everything about the trailers focused on He-Man. Why not be honest?

Why even bother doing an episode 1 bait and switch if you’re going to release it all at once? You’re not stringing anyone along for longer than 40 minutes, since right after they finish episode 1… they’re not going online to talk about how good it was and how they hope the rest of the show stays faithful, they’re going to watch episode 2 and be disappointed.

What’s even the fucking point?

Jesus Christ.

Yes, that's the actual dialogue.
The "new" Teela checks all of the Strong Female Protaganist in a socially aware IP reboot boxes not just in attitude ("You died, you fucking asshole!") but in appearance. Sidecut and massive guns. and a manjaw?

I mean what happened, did Teela use the Sorceress' magic to grow a dick too? Or did she just find a hookup for tren?

You still don't get it? It's her turn bigot, it will be always her turn. They will "subvert" and "challenge your expectations" with everything under the sun until you get into your misogynistic head that you cannot enjoy anything unless that you start venerating the same causes and politics that the industry does.

I just want to point out that Kevin Smith named his daughter after Harley Quinn, a literal psychopath. That, apparently, is female empowerment to him. He believes that Harley Quinn is a stronk wammins, and not a raging psycho.
