a friend of mine got really excited about the announcement, I was extremely cautious because Kevin Smith. He made a bet with me for a bootle of beer, told him that He-Man will probably lose in the first or second episode.
I did some digging after he sent me the trailer today

I don’t trust that

The difference in technical skill between this & She-Ra almost makes me think they advertise poorly drawn animation as "made by women" on purpose to stir stupid online gender wars.

It actually looks a lot better than I thought it would in motion, I thought all the detail and being an American show it would focus more on stills than anything else. I'm by no means a "He-Man" fan and my interest in this is solely from curiosity and having a strong interest in the animation medium, but it's nice when we get to see a recent American animated series that doesn’t look like total trash visually.

I also like that it has an actual color palette and doesn’t do the "serious" adult animation/DC direct-to-video animation thing of making everything drab, colorwise.

I doubt that Kevin Smith, the huge manchild he is, is going to fuck around too much with a nostalgia manchild property. As long as He-Man gets to do some cool He-Man shit, then I don't really care.

I have to agree. He may be a complete tool and your typical soy, but he has always respected artists and source material. Probably safe. Probably.

The animation is exquisite. Love it. Couldn't have asked for a better or more fun trailer.

However ... The plot leaks worry me. If this were 10 years ago, these leaks would make me think, "Oh, so it's going to be like the Death & Return of Superman, but with He-Man. Awesome!" However, because it's Current Year (tm), the leaks have me worried.

Looks alright.

Also, to cut through some of the other stuff with She-Ra being referenced, She-Ra's core plot ultimately boiled down to a shitty love story about a deeply damaged control freak and her victim. From the looks of things I suspect He-Man reboot is going to make the more common and largely more stable route of most children's TV Series and not make twu luv the the core thing behind it. I suspect at most we'll get something in line with Superman animated series amount of romance subplot and more likely not even that much.

That clip feels like the classic show but with highly improved animation.

Given what we know about the show, this is probably a flashback of some kind, but its nice to see Skeletor being funny, and the good guys all working together with the right balance of fun, action, and cheese.

I have a feeling I'm going to be sitting there thinking "Man, why isn't the whole show like this clip?".

Though I have to ask, how could He-Man not break those handcuffs? Dude can break Photanium, which is the most powerful metal in that universe. Must be magic or some shit.
