Helldivers 2 - Hell is more diverse than ever as PlayStation's demographics continue to grow and change.

Now that I finally decided to mildly overlook the devs sin of nerfing my beloved quasar cannon since they at least balanced the enemies out, my thoughts are that the game is a lot of fun again, but they are already teetering on being gay with the overbalanced again. I do like that at least now the balances seem to involve actual balancing or the double edge sickle getting high pen damage, and the Commando has replaced the quasar as my go-to heavy deleter. Its basically a 4 shot EAT with a fair replacement time.

I am at the point where I'm tempted to stop using Democracy Protects and try other armors with perks but it's just so fun sometimes surviving the worst shit and ragdolling instead of biting it. I have started using inflammable when I use the new sickle sometimes but I don't usually push it to the combustion point.

For all the talk of preferring one enemy over another for me I think it depends on level play since the higher level bot swarms tend to be more annoying to me than bug swarms. I enjoy fighting the squids but don't find myself enjoying the maps as much as the bug and bot worlds, high level bug runs are awesome now with the new gear and toys and the bile titan holes make for some good times. I find that the shield gen or some variant of the guard dog is an essential for the new gloombugs to keep you from being overly harassed by stalkers, but now with the ultimatum I might say fuck it and start rocking a supply pack.

I'm glad to see that the game is back on its feet and seems to be doing very well again, and happier still that the dev team was wrangled into making things fun again.

I use the Recoiless Rifle when i need to run anti tank, it one shots everything except a Factory Strider, I use the MG as my support weapon for squids and for buts i run the RR and have thermite grenades, which have been buffed to a really good state, it hac one everything except a Factory strider, but you only get a max of 3.

If I go up against the new gloom bugs I'm going to miss the recoiless rifle but If I bring a commando and a shield it should get it done when the heavies show up. The recoiless rifle is a must take with me for bots though. I should try the HMG against the squids to see how much better it may be against harvesters and overseers than the MG.

I like bugs because I get to go full pyromainiac build and it's extremely effective. Bots are the most fun by far IMO, it's the gunfights and the scouting and the sneaky ambushes and the occasional miniboss in the factory striders. Squids need more content now, the novelty is gone and they've become too repetitive and easy if at least 2 of your teammates are going full meta with it.

Hold up, can supply pack resupply the commando?

On the new predator units:

- The new Predator Stalkers are overall weaker than standard Stalkers. They don't have the knock back tongue attack and don't go invisible. They still have the same speed, health, and standard attack damage tho. Can't call in bug breaches. Closer to the standard Hunter than the standard Stalker.

- The new Predator Hunters are far stronger than the standard Hunters. Can turn invisible, seemingly do more damage on standard attacks, and also spit acid. All while being to call in bug breaches. Easily the most annoying enemy in the game (IMO).

The standard MG works great against the overseers and harvesters, just set the rpm to 900 and aim at the leg joint on the harvesters

Terminid subfaction just dropped. It's the stalker variant subfaction that was discussed a while back.
Tried it out a few hours ago and loved it. I usually hate playing on bugs but the level of panic trying to watch my back all while trying to help my teammates was really fun. A nice break from bots and squids.

I only dropped in mid Match when the team was getting shitfaced by the new bugs but the heavy machine gun plus ammo backpack did a good job at shredding them.

New bugs weren't too terrible when playing with a four man team familiar with each other and on comms. I brought the RR to take down heavies, we'd drop down mutually supportive MG turrets, we brought AOE orbitals and eagle strafing runs, and one guy brought a Constitution meme build with which he somehow successfully bayoneted the predator strain bugs to death. But then when it was a three man team and there were two stalker nest secondaries on the field we gave up after one mission.

No.

The portable hellbomb has become a new favorite of mine. I see many practical uses for it but frankly suiting up in light armor and spamming stims to suicide bomb key enemy picks and objectives is a lot of fun. In my experience, play well and pick your targets well and even on really high difficulties nobody can complain with the reinforcements you're trading.

One of the guys I was playing with practically tearfully begged me in VC not to go when I charged out of the cover we were hiding behind to sacrifice myself to take out a factory strider that was encroaching on us. He went on to survive to extraction lmao. Come up with some good fanatical lines about martyrism and democracy and suit up in VC and I reckon you are bound for a good time.

New gloom map is pretty great. Fighting bugs in the city and environments feels fresh. Sample hauls are bountiful too

I'm surprised more people don't use flamethrowers. They are incredibly effective at area denial and killing the bigger mook bugs. Even more effective in the citys too.

Anyone gotten to play on the city maps with the bugs yet? If so, how does they play?
It feels great. They did a good job with pathfinding and such, although one or two bugs got stuck in buildings. It's impressive to see the largest bugs navigate the city Godzilla style.

You could just drop the bomb. Still epic though

Pretty claustrophobic at times and there's an increase in bug holes. Generally significantly harder compared to non-gloom, non-urban bug missions.

Otherwise a welcome change and great atmosphere.

Good shit excited to try it out.

I like fighting bugs because I enjoy mowing down mobs with the machine gun and I got really burnt out on bots at release because people didn't realize you don't have to fight every patrol you come across and if everyone didn't take an anti tank weapon as third you were going to lose. I'm sure it's easier now than it was but I'm enjoying bugs and illuminate enough that I haven't had any interest in finding out if bots are better than they were.

During my first mission in the gloom, I was holding down an intersection against a seemingly endless tide of bugs until 2 bile titans knocked down buildings while approaching from different angles. My killbox was instantly demolished and I barely got away alive. It was the most exciting thing to happen in helldivers in recent memory. I can't wait 'til I have time to play more.
