Threads is canon in Helldivers loreBritain is completely gone lmao.
Not really no, the idea that sentient aliens are somehow incapable of reasoning is 40k nonsense. The dehumanization (de-sentience-ization?) propaganda in Helldivers was part of the point that was being made in the setting, they were obvious stand ins for real conflicts. And it was inherently contradictory which was also the point (Squid Saddam DEFINITELY had WMDs so we had to do a peaceful preemptive attack, anyone who disagrees is executed for treason, we don't negotiate with terrorists, yet the Illuminate war ended with a treaty. The Cyborg human serfs that want autonomy are communist terrorists that can't be negotiated with, yet Super Earth negotiated with them, twice. Bugs are a bit weirder because it's a mix of war in the Middle East for the petrodollar and commentary on bioweapons).
For Helldivers 1 anyway. 2 is a bit weird in that it should be the natural continuation where Super Earth's aggressive wars turned their targets into the very dehumanized enemies their propaganda talked about (just like the real life US) but not many people played HD1 so they're retreading the same waters. There are only so many ways you could repeat "wink wink nudge nudge the Ministry of Truth assures you that Automatons don't have feelings!" yeah no shit they're sapient, but they now do throw humans in blenders like the old propaganda said, because you made them do that, so it's just a bunch of terrible factions fighting each other for revenge.
A garbage man looking at trash huhYes Unfortunately, a garbage man was fired at his job for ooking at black people on video.
40k's problem is that GW can't fucking commit in a direction, because the setting is moved by the Imperium and IoM fans are splintered. You have the oldheads that know the IoM as the most cruel dogshit dystopian genocidal regime imaginable that's gnawed at from all sides, and that's neat and appealing and grimdark, then you have newer fans that sip from the HFY chalice and will argue about how it's actually based and moral (either by downplaying the dogshit parts of their ideology or claiming them as good because they're far right) and needs to win.Sadly it seems to be where 40k is headed now
Nah the real fans know thay the Imperium is literally the best thing to do given the situation you're shoving modern day morality on the setting. I'd like to point at the space wolves vs inquisition thing regarding the first war of Armageddon, on the surface the space wolves are right and purging the entire planets population is bad however when we're talking chaos the mere knowledge of chaos is enough to corrupt and spread. Look no further than Vraks and how Mammon being barely knowledgeable snowballed into an entire rebellion yet the Alpha legion supplanted Mammons advisor role to the cardinal immediately because Mammon barely knew shit. You have the oldheads that know the IoM as the most cruel dogshit dystopian genocidal regime imaginable that's gnawed at from all sides, and that's neat and appealing and grimdark, then you have newer fans that sip from the HFY chalice and will argue about how it's actually based and moral (either by downplaying the dogshit parts of their ideology or claiming them as good because they're far right) and needs to win.
Managed Democracy.
But yes it's supposed to be a parody of the patriotic fervor of the "they hate us for our freedom" era, combined with the top-down state worship of Communist China.
Lore-wise after the nuclear wars that ravaged the Earth the "Federation of Super Earth" rose from the ashes of the US and China to conquer and unite the whole planet, before then declaring T.A.D. and btfo'ing the entire universe in the first galactic war, which ended in 2084. 2 takes place 100 years later after Super Earth got complacent and the other factions came back to fuck shit up.
Well I didn't fall for anything. I know full well that Super Earth is evil, I just don't care. I fucking hate aliens.
I almost caught myself feeling bad for the squids being nearly driven to extinction but then I got zapped by a tesla tower from around a corner. Cleared that up right quick.

Iirc it was because they felt that it was impossible to trust them, given their mental abilities and society built on strict intellectual hierarchy. It was impossible to know if whatever agreement or deals you had with them were actually your idea or just squid mind control. The Humans and Squ'ith were friendly to each other until humanity accused them of having WMD's. I doubt we'll ever know for certain why Super Earth attacked the Illuminate, but considering the satire, it's almost certainly not true.
trueMeanwhile only Orks are based
Not really? Not for long anyway, Super Earth attacked them immediately after first contact. The squids were not geared for war so they suffered greatly. If they actually had WMDs they wouldn't have attacked them lmao. The Humans and Squ'ith were friendly to each other until humanity accused them of having WMD's.
You want Earth Defense Force. The actually use lesser graphics for it, partially so they can have more enemies to fight at once. If you're interested to try it, start with 5. they do resets periodically so they dont have to get bogged down in loreI want hundreds of bugs that all die to one hit to anything, supplemented by tougher enemies.
Nothing happened you say?40k's problem is that GW can't fucking commit in a direction, because the setting is moved by the Imperium and IoM fans are splintered. Combined with trying to push 40k as a multimedia Star Wars type mass appeal setting, GW can't show the Inperium as being too bad anymore (what's the last time a videogame showed a war with Eldar or Tau, instead of just chaos and nids?) and they toned down the grimdarkness by having the IoM keep winning streaks of victories from pure asspulls. They're teasing the cockhead of going full Ordertide with G-Man and Yvraine, but the whole Ynnari thing got put on ice so who knows anymore. The whole setting is in a weird place.
In my opinion the setting needs a not dogshit Storm of Chaos or similar narrative campaign to shake it up. For fucks sake they cut the galaxy win half and nothing fucking happened, they asspulled Bigger Marines and Guilliman and it's doing even better than before, the fucking Emperor can just materialize in Guilliman like Karl Franz, what is this shit.
Who said it was exclusively Japanese? Chink/gook fandoms are a thousand times worse (like the last time Da Wei, an executive at Mihoyo got (almost) stabbed by some who was angry at MHY adding bunny suits in Honkai Impact 3rd, but are still spending their money/remaining diehard to a company that they literally nearly got someone fatally killed). You would not believe how hard it is to get some people to realize "maybe the devs aren't that smart, or just lied about this thing totally being intended".
It's especially bad with Japanese devs and weeb fandoms.
That schizo won btw, the bunny suits got removed.like the last time Da Wei, an executive at Mihoyo got (almost) stabbed by some who was angry at MHY adding bunny suits in Honkai Impact 3rd,
