How do I know the game is dead? Beyond them releasing on a Monday to have a built in excuse for the Player Count cratering?

Simple - I’m seeing more articles bemoaning “the evil chud gamers not giving new games a chance” than I am seeing any actual discussion about Highguard. Which is hilarious considering at least 97k people on Steam did give it a chance - I’m not sure about Console numbers, if there were any - and apparently they all decided it wasn’t for them. Everyone else just has shit they already play and decided to pass. Modern Game Devs, Execs and “Journalists” need to understand that the are not entitled to their consumers Time or Money…

It's looking like it may not cross 10k tonight. Is it over? Probably.

It's hard to tell for console, but there's still some indicators. The xbox top most played games has Highguard at 93rd place behind(and I'll leave out the gamepass games that people get for free)
SW Outlaws, RDR2(yes, from 2018 with little multiplayer content in ages), Madden '25(26 has been out for months and is also higher on the list than 25), and CoD WW2(from 2017).

I don't know where to look for any info about playstation(they don't organize their store in such a way and the trophy tracking websites can be way off) but I doubt it's any better on there.

You guys are saying only 10k in 3 days. Niggers it was 11k in 13 (THIRTEEN) HOURS. :story:

The funniest part of this screenshot is that this is STILL 10x the peak playerbase on concord. Scant consolation for the highguard devs mind.
To be fair, if this game costed 60 buckerinos, it would also be under 1000 players, maybe even less than Trooncord

We're talking about the 24 hour peak being 10k. Concurrent users for games have peaks and dips throughout the day depending on timezones where the game is popular. If a game dips to 11k during off peak hours but can get back up to 100k players during peak times, then the dip wouldn't really mean shit.

It seems like damn near every AAA publisher is putting out gigantic mega budget hero shooters and going bankrupt like a week after they come out.

It feels like going to a casino, seeing one guy bet all his money on green at roulette, and he wins and walks away with a huge amount of money. Then, a massive line of people show up carrying huge piles of money, looking to do the exact same thing, and one by one they all go bust.

That would be almost rational. Studios have been bankrupting themselves with that method since the days of Atari. The real problem with Concord-likes is that the people showing up carrying huge piles of money at the roulette are betting on purple.
