its called tension, finding a valuable gun, and the unknown quantity of you escaping with it, or something bad happening is exciting,
That would make me vomit and/or snap my controller in half. If that appeals to people (and it clearly does judging by the genre's success) more power to them but I would hate to play a game like that.

It's a genre, not every genre needs to appeal to everyone. I can't see why people specifically like Arc Raiders or Tarkov compared to some of the others out there(maybe I could if I actually tried them, but I'm not not interested in them), but at the end of the day realizing a game isn't for you and doesn't have to be is what separates normal people from retarded game journos.

And retarded game devs, judging by how much western-made slop is so desperate to appeal to every/any conceivable audience.

That's how Highguard feels, too. "You want hero shooters? Okay we put heroes in the game. Build bases like Fortnite? Consider it done (in the most shallow way possible). The kids still like Minecraft, right? Put an ore mining minigame in there, fuck it, I don't know. Horses."

yea but the trick is that guns are basically falling out of the sky, while its slightly upsetting in the moment to lose a good gun, the reality is they are somewhat easy to craft and somewhat easy to find.
only a fully upgraded gun is really expensive/valuable.

you also go into a run with a "free kit" which has a level 1 gun (gun levels only upgrade their handling and reload speed, a level 1 grey gun is still incredibly deadly, you just will have smaller mag size, worse handling ect) and a small amount of heals and quick use stuff.

Free kitting means anything you find is a bonus, including if you ambush someone fully kitted out and manage to win .

I cannot state how user/noob/casual friendly ARC Raiders is, it is not Tarkov, it isn't a frustrating hellscape like that game

I don't know why Arc is popular because the appeal of extraction shooters as a whole --or any game where death means you lose everything and wasted your time-- escapes me, but I'm guessing it's because, like Helldivers 2, it provides a specific experience no other game on the market does.
It's not necessarily that because it's the appeal of the genre, the interesting thing is that arc raiders is very late into the market. It's like if highguard was a solid hero shooter and made better numbers than its counterparts while being 40$. I remember when marathon alpha was revealed and everyone was saying that there's an extraction shooter fatigue and that nobody would play a new extraction shooter, then arc raiders comes along months later and becomes a huge hit. Maybe it's the third-person perspective bias that people have because of fortnite, it seems that tps are more likely to succeed than fps these days. Arc raiders also has the body type A/B and nonsense and everyone is androgynous, so I was expecting it to be the target of the culture war at the very least.

So, let's get back to the laid off Highguard developer who ranted earlier here:

By searching joshiepoo25, you can find plenty of people dunking on his big post (mostly the one before the apples post). Did he have other accounts? Is he coping on bluesky?

Review bombing should (supposedly) be when the person did a workaround to post a review like buy and refund it without any intention of ever playing.
That's basically exactly what it is.
I hate the mention of review bombing, anyway, because both sides of the argument support and hate it in equal measure. They just conveniently quiet down when it's in their favor.

Highguard being free2play means you can download, log in, and play a match or two quite quickly. Pretty simple to get enough info to know if you think the game is good or not. The only thing in the dev's favor are the people who experienced the game vicariously through twitch streams, but, I mean... there were literally people quitting halfway into their first match out of boredom in those, so...

lol, what a faggot. Nothing on his personal IG, his art IG sucks, and he's posted next to nothing on bluesky. His linkedin is just asspats for his former co-workers.

Out of everything the devs have said, and they haven't said anything to tell me, your potential customer, why I should play this?
All I read is that I'm an awful person and wanna suck EA's dick for not touting your game as the second coming.
I know I'm screaming pointlessly. but holy shit! Can these devs just once explain to me what makes their game enjoyable, and not attack the people that might give you money. all just autistic tantrums and deflections everytime.
These are the same people who have the nerve to complain about “entitled gamers” when the customer wants a decent product that isn’t lame and gay.

It's a weird one, because Arc's use of generative AI destroys any goodwill they had, and then some. The "I support the current thing" people generally seem to dislike it. It's just a very well executed, comparatively shallow and "casual" extraction shooter that discourages pvp. If you don't attack others, you eventually get lobbies where everyone is just running from one loot node to the next, hovering up loot like little roombas.

I'll be honest, I considered downloading it just to try it to see how bad it was cause I missed out on the other dumpster fires the past couple of years like "the day before" since this one was free. But having to install shit like Secure Boot and TPM really didn't jive with me. So guess I'll laugh from the bleachers yet again.

Yup. I'm not juggling system security settings to play a fucking game. Not with about 10,000+ others sitting around available to play that don't require that.

The tweets that are upset about how highguard is concord are getting more likes than the players playing the game.

The target audience is busy virtue signaling. Lol.

It always makes me laugh that these faggotroon Concord slop games always have secureboot and kernel level anitcheat.

They actually think people are going to care enough to cheat in these games.

I captured highguard's first time reaching a single digit low for the first time. Predicting by the end of this week, or early next week it'll hit the first triple digit peak. Possible announcement of a shutdown by the end of the month.

Highguard Character Concept Artist Cristina Laviña Ferez posted these concepts of current and unreleased characters for the game. She mentioned that the characters were designed in 2-3 weeks max, so either this was a last-minute crunch, or other mismanagement.

Here's two unreleased character concept arts:

Even the concept art comparisons to the final product of the current characters weren't much different, which shows the lack of time in designing them:

Jesus. They really are allergic to attractive humans.

FEMALE. LONG BLONDE HAIR. WHITE. SLENDER. FIRM THIGHS AND ASS. BIG TITS. There, you've just designed the most popular fucking character. Clone her, make her six inches shorter, make her hair brown, shrink her tits, give her a tan (NOT a nigger, but a white woman with a TAN), and you've just designed your second most popular fucking character. Add a generic short flat-chested redhead and you'll grab the loli crowd too. Boom. I just made three breakout characters for LITERALLY ANY GAME YOU EVER WANT TO MAKE.

How did these dumbasses fuck this up so hard?
