It looks like Highguard's reddit has gone the way of the asylum and completely imploded. Something that curiously never happened with concord.

Why was anyone supposed to care about Highguard anyway?
Because it was blessed by the Dorito Pope himself and awarded the prestigious last spot of the evening.

You know, the last spot that gamers have been super concerned with for years? Wait...
2024 Intergalactic, the shitty looking game with the bald headed brown chick in space by Druckmann. No one cared about this
2023 Monster Hunter Wilds this game fucking flopped at release
2022 Final Fantasy 16, flopped at release and got shitty reviews from dumb game journos who couldn't just not use the combat cheat items to auto dodge and auto combo
2021 was an advertisement for the fucking matrix sequel, a movie... to promtoe UE5. The last game trailer was Arc Raiders. People at least actually like this one.
2020 Medal of Honor Above and Beyond... a shitty looking VR game. No one played this.
2019 Ok maybe covid fucked everything up? Elder Scrolls Online elswhatever expansion
2018 PUBG mobile, and then a fucking smash bros DLC
2017 Warframe expansion? Metro Exodus?
2016 Mass Effect Andromeda LOL
2015 The Walking Dead Telltale Games sequel and an ad for Go90 some likely defunct verizon video streaming service
2014 Legend of Zelda breath of the wild... for the fucking WiiU

Yeah I don't fucking know where people got this "but it was in the prestigious last trailer of the night spot" narrative when most of the time it's clearly been either trash or shit no one cares about.

edit: Fuck it there's only a couple more years before 2018. Lets see what the glorious last reveal for those was. So yeah for the most part the "coveted last spot on the game awards worth millions of dollars" has been fucking meaningless.

Even if the games turned out to flop or be shit the last reveal is usually something from a renowned series or studio (Arc Raiders being the only exception in your list). Plus it's just become the general theme of these trailer parks that you always do the 'just one more thing...' at the end; it's like a band's encore, we all know they're coming back but it's part of the act.

Highguard was bizarre because it was a game no one had ever heard of from a studio that hadn't made anything. If Geoff had played a selfie montage of all the times he's met Hideo Kojima it would have been less awkward and confusing.

I was editing the post and went back to the rest of the streams on youtube that went to 2014.

No, isn't some reveal from a renowned series half the time. Intergalactic? No. Monster Hunter Wilds, super niche. FF16? Maybe except the last games, 15, 13 and it's 2 sequels, were all shit and that's going back to 2009. 12 came out in 2006 and was not a success, the last truly successful FF game that wasn't a fucking MMO was 10 from 2001. Arc Raiders came out of nowhere from Nexon and no one gave a shit about any legacy or whatever. Medal of Honor VR? ESO? PUBG mobile? No. Metro Exodus... maybe? ME:A Their reputation was already fucked after ME3 but fine this was before Anthem. Telltale Games anything? No. Breath of the Wild sure.

2023 Monster Hunter Wilds this game fucking flopped at release
Wilds didn't flop you retard. Wilds had a very rough launch due to shitty optimization leading to very poor performance but had over a million players at launch and over 100,000 players well into June. It's consistently had tens of thousands of players since it's launch and even as I type this has over 60,000 players on Steam alone.
No. Monster Hunter Wilds, super niche.
LMAO. It's not 2007 anymore. Monster Hunter hasn't been niche for a long time.

World was a failure of a game where the multiplayer(the entire point of it) barely fucking worked, and Wilds was a joke with shit performance. It's a niche game series that outside of the initial launches, relies entirely on autistic grinds for people to get 1/400(or worse) chances at item drops from specific monsters to even progress further. Yes, the shit's niche.

And it had a million players when it came out, and lost most of it's playerbase due to running like shit and the absurd grind. Sales flop, obviously not. Flop of a game no one gave a fuck about 2 months after launch while still having mediocre reviews? Yes. It's a niche game that looked interesting to a massive audience that obviously didn't stick with it.

So yeah, lost 90% of its playerbase within a couple of months, and damn near a year later still has people complaining about performance issues, crashes, and network drops. That's fucking trash for an action game with perfect parries and guards. Stop being a faggot that can't accept the truth.

It's like I'm back on /v/. This is the Highguard thread so I'm not going to make another post after this, but your post reeks of secondary parroted opinions ripped straight out of the mouths of third world niggers from /v/ without a shred of personal experience. People played through the story with their friends and quit, just like people do with games. If you're a stupid nigger you see the percentage loss of players without bothering to realize there's still hundreds of thousands of players two months after launch, which is more than 99% of games on steam. Even tens of thousand of players, which Wilds has always had, is still a substantial amount of players and in no way constitutes a flop. You clearly don't, and have never, played Monster Hunter and have no clue what you're talking about. Wilds did not flop, and you're a fucking retard.

60-70k daily concurrent a year later for a game that isn't even a live service are fucking fantastic numbers, nigger wtf are you even talking about?

Most devs would give their left arm for those stats.

World was trash and didn't fucking worked and that's from having played it. The fall off for Wilds is public information for people to see, as is the reasons for it to have fallen off due to running like shit. If you don't think the autistic end-game grinds of MH games is a niche you're an idiot. Only being able to retain 5% of your audience for a live service game after 3 months is fucking abysmal.

Did Monster Hunter Wilds rape your mom or something?

I don't even like Wilds but that is a very extreme level of hatred for a 7/10 midslop game.

It's called being realistic about it and using facts. I don't care that the literal fanboy above with a monster from World in his username is offended.

edit: Back to the topic at hand now that we've passed the daily peak again

Sub 700, with a dip to 254. Any day now they'll get the player population "distilled" to just the right number and it'll be a hit! If we assume an even split for 3v3 and 5v5(that really was terrible of them to do post launch) that's less than 58 instances of 3v3 games, and less than 35 5v5 games at its peak.

It doesn't matter if Naughty Dog games are generally boring shit, they're still one of the best known western studios left in the industry. The Monster Hunter franchise has been popular for years, MH Worlds sold nearly 30 million copies so yeah people are going to care about new MH game. FF16 was shit, but as a franchise Final Fantasy is extremely famous. Medal of Honor is a known IP, albeit one that has been dead for years; Elder Scrolls again is a massive franchise people care about even if ESO isn't as popular as something like Skyrim; PUBG is a recognisable name even if nobody gives a shit about a mobile spin-off. So on and so forth.

You are confusing your personal feelings about these games/studios with general public perception. This is the same reason they mentioned Titanfall in the trailer for Highguard even though that franchise was left to die and Wildlight staff had barely any connection to it.

FF not having a hit game for over 20 years other than the MMOs(and even 14 required a relaunch) isn't personal feelings. Naughty Dog re-releasing the same shit repeatedly and abandoning IPs again, isn't personal feelings to the point where it's become a huge drag on Sony/Playstation. You admit Medal of Honor had been a dead IP for years, that shit was dead for a decade since the 2010 game(warfighter was crap) and FF again outside of the MMO had been dead as a franchise for longer. As for pubg mobile, it actually was a hit overseas meanwhile the main game itself was in the process of dying because the devs refused to segregate the 500 ping chinamen to their own servers.

You're the one confusing feelings about game studios, and ignoring obvious issues and failures. Just look at this trailer, and tell me the comments aren't anything but absurdly optimistic fanboys. It's fucking VR slop.

Half of the "coveted last trailer" spots were for crap before even considering we found out later they would be shit like ME:A. And mentioning Titanfall and Apex for Highguard? So? That doesn't have anything to do with getting the last trailer for the game awards. Plenty of other games have done that over the years without needing to be in the last trailer spot for the show.

edit: And the ESO announcement was for an expansion. If the last trailer slot is truly so prestigious, you're going to put an expansion for ESO, and a character announcement for smash bros, in the same tier as the other "prestigious" announcements as FF16 and Intergalatic? Come on. And even if we look at the list entirely from a matter of hindsight, then Highguard was bound to be shit just by being in the last slot with the exceptions being Arc Raiders and Breath of the Wild(and MHW if you ignore that it was likely a lot of first time buyers with shit retention that probably won't chance it again since the game is still in a state of shit). That's still 10(or 9) out of the 12 announcements and games being crap or just a DLC(unless we're really holding out for Intergalactic to not be shit... really?).

Not that it matters that munch, I think you need to also have TPM 2.0 enabled. Riot games doesn't get enough hate for this, they were the first one requiring this shit to be enabled in order to play their games, then Battlefield 6 and COD followed suit. Highguard devs saw this was becoming a "standard" and implemented it into their game, which ironically might've gatekept most of the players that downloaded the game that day, people launched the game (it counts as towards the player count as if you are playing, even if the error that you don't have secure boot enabled hasn't appeared yet) saw the error and uninstalled.

I had a bit of a random thought: the developers said that they intended to shadow drop Highguard and didn't want the attention of being the final trailer of The Game Award. So, I have to ask... why the fuck were you even bumping elbows at The Game Awards if you didn't want any attention on your game before 'shadow dropping' it?!

MH Wilds runs like Christopher Reeves in clown shoes after catching polio. They've made it "better" is the last year since, but that doesn't make it good.
