Hit by Youtube's AdBlocker detection. Help needed.

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
that "user agent switcher" extension seemed like it was working for a week but then i just got the "strike one of 3" popup-- i updated ublock origin and it went away. we'll see.

I'd think it was just me, but I've talked to several people that are getting really screwed up stuff recommended lately from the algo with all this too. I thought it was just me, but I'm seeing some shorts that are borderline NSFW pretty often. I basically gave up for a few days to let ublock get better on it but it's pretty jarring.

For those using Enhancer for YouTube this might be helpful:

Post text:
So I usually stay in other tabs and YouTube in the background and it is really annoying for me to go back to the tab and skip the ad, not to complain but this is a great solution but I think I can make it a little bit better, Just follow the procedure mentioned above then you scroll down to the bottom of the enhancer for YouTube extension settings/options. And, you will see Custom Script, paste the following code in the input box, and select the checkbox that says Automatically execute the script when YouTube is loaded in a tab and save it. You are welcome.

setInterval(()=>{

if(document.getElementsByClassName('ytp-ad-preview-container ') && document.getElementsByClassName('ytp-ad-preview-container ').length){

document.getElementById('efyt-not-interested').click()

}

if(document.getElementById('masthead-ad')) document.getElementById('masthead-ad').innerHTML = ""

if(document.getElementsByTagName("ytd-player-legacy-desktop-watch-ads-renderer") && document.getElementsByTagName("ytd-player-legacy-desktop-watch-ads-renderer").length)document.getElementsByTagName("ytd-player-legacy-desktop-watch-ads-renderer")[0].innerHTML = ""

if(document.getElementsByTagName("ytd-ad-slot-renderer") && document.getElementsByTagName("ytd-ad-slot-renderer").length)document.getElementsByTagName("ytd-ad-slot-renderer")[0].innerHTML = ""

},500)

Works like a charm.

Fuck you, Pajeet!

I just want to say that Youtube fucked up hard by taking literal years to create a Patreon alternative. I'd wager that most creators don't even get the majority of their revenue through the site anyways (in-video sponsors, patreon, etc.). They already had a leg up with google pay. It would've been easy as hell to let people put a subscription on their account. I wouldn't be surprised if they don't start going after once this adblock war ends.

Also I don't understand why creators aren't creating accounts on other video sites. Doesn't seem like it would be much effort.

Has YT given up? Haven't seen that anti ad block pop up for some days now and I'm not doing the filter refresh on uBlock every time a open my browser.

I don't think they've given up.
Maybe they scaled back the rollout if that.

This shit is only gonna make the most normie of normie-tier NPCs disable adblock or pay for YTpremium following this popup.
Everybody else is just doubling down because FUCK YOU PAJEET

anyone els having the problem where all youtube channels are changed to "null" when you click a video?

nvm fixed it, it was youtube redux fucking up

I don't know why you think it's a losing battle, it's well within their means to shove ads in a way that no ad blocker can block reliably.
And then some autist will find a way to circumvent those ads too, like always.

There will always be people looking to block ads, but how long can Google waste resources trying to force ads? Even if one of the adblockers permanently stops working, another will take it's place. Google doesn't have the same capacity because they only have pajeets to throw at the problem, not an endless horde of autistics.

That's a baseless assumption: At some point that won't be possible. Just as an example from something related: the age-gate videos bypass in yt-dlp can't work now if you're connecting from the EU to YouTube (unless you give your account's cookies to yt-dlp, which defeats one of its purposes).

(Let's not even mention their Web Integrity API which if it ends up being pushed on everyone will spell the death of ad blockers)
