Hit by Youtube's AdBlocker detection. Help needed.

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
I've only run into it once about a month ago and that's it. My setup is sorta beyond paranoid though. I have UBO, Privacy Badger, Popper Blocker, RTC Leak Protection, Decentraleyes, ClearURLs extensions running. I have my MAC address randomized, TCP resequencing, OS fingerprint masquerading, browser agent randomized, VPN with randomly assigned IPv4, IPv6 completely disabled, with the VPN having a centralized black hole for ad CDNs, C&C servers, malware servers, etc...
Fuck dude, are you afraid because you hacked the Gibson?

HACK THE PLANET!

Is there a way to block ads (on YouTube and in general) on an Android phone? From what I gather, you can't use uBlock on it.
Yes you can, depends on your mobile web browser.

Idk if it's a security thing, there must be some more complicated equation or agenda since I use nothing but ublock on a regular browser for YT and I've never gotten it once.

I'm not sure if not being logged in helps? Perhaps if they've decided you're an uncouth character they won't try to sell you anything.

That sounds nuts but maybe there's legitimately something tied to a person's trackers/account that makes the YT bots decide whether they are or aren't interested in trying to force ads down your throat, like account standing and what type of videos you watch?
Or maybe they decide totally at random which people are going to get hit, so that there isn't a big outcry all at once?

It's really curious why some people get it and others don't.

I've not been hit yet, but ex-Mrs Pee has been. She was almost going to fall for the YT Premium trick until I suggested she try uBO. AFAIK she hasn't been picked up by adblock detection since.

Bear in mind she likes a lot of normie horseshit that middle aged women are into (i.e. true crime, WatchMojo-tier Top 10 videos etc), whereas I go out of my way to block that shit to the point where I use BlockTube alongside uBO, Clickbait Remover, Return YouTube Dislike and SponsorBlock to unfuck my YT experience as much as possible. Ofc Firefox runs like a dog now, but you can't make an omelette without breaking a few eggs.

Maybe all the other YT-centric plug-ins are helping in some way?

Amateur.

No problem!

It's a good idea to bookmark the link that "the gouts" posted above: -

If it says "YES" on that page and it's green, as long as your quick fix filters are up to date, you can use YouTube without issues.

If it says "NO" and the page is red, it means the uBO folks haven't defeated YouTube's latest anti-adblock script yet, so updating the filters won't make any difference at that point in time - in that instance, just use YouTube in an incognito/container tab temporarily.
For me, I just log out of my account when the filters haven't been updated and it seems to work just fine
I salute the ublock team for having the dedication to fighting against youtube's bullshit

I use a container tab so that I can stay logged into YouTube in a regular tab where I can see my subscriptions and recommendations, then I'll watch videos in the container tab where I'm not logged in. But yeah, as long as you're logged out in the tab you watch videos in, you should be fine.

I never log into YouTube and haven't seen this yet.

Just got the message for the first time, I was hoping I would escape it by using AdNauseam and uBlock Origin but they got me sneakily. I truly hope I get to see YT die miserably in my lifetime.

God bless the autists at uBO for fighting the good fight.

It started warning me on my new box but stopped a few days ago. All I have on it right now is sponsorblock, ublock origin and countdown killer. Have we begun winning the war on Google?

Seems like it for now. I'm waiting for them to really nail things down by putting every video behind the sort of DRM they do with movies and TV and if that will get broken too.

YouTube are still updating their script 1-2 times per day on weekdays.

I think how much you notice it depends a lot on where you live and what time you typically browse YouTube. They usually update their script late afternoon UK time, then sometimes again late in the evening, but if you live, say, on the west coast of the US and you work in the day, you may never even notice it.

that is so weird, my Brave got detected by youtube for like 2 minutes, but its stopped now
then i tried again, and i got blocked again, then minutes later, its fine again
do you install anything other than Brave, or is the standard browser enough?
eddit: SO weird.. i load a video, it blocks me, but then i refresh, and the video works

I got hit with this shit a while ago on desktop FF with uBlock Origin. Switched to Fadblock but that stopped working a couple of days ago. Since yesterday i use PrivacyBadger and uBlock Origin in tandem and am adfree again. Brave on Android, which i've been using since forever, works as before, no ads, ever. The YT experience with ads on desktop is a fucking joke, it threw me ad after ad just skipping through a video, it's even worse than on the YT app on my LG TV.

Not exactly on topic for the thread, but it's still pretty important in regards to youtube fuckery.
Apparently if you use Youtube on FireFox, there's a chance it'll add an artificial 5 second delay to watching videos, but if you spoof it to fool the site into thinking you're using Chromium the problem goes away.

lol I was just about to post about that

Anyway it's not a good sign that YT is doing crap like that, as there aren't that many Firefox users.

This will be one of the catalysts that sees a flood of traffic leave YouTube, mark my words. Now would be a good time for Rumble owners to say

“No ads? No problem. You can turn them off in the settings.” Really capture the market that Google is killing off, trap em in, then propose a 5.99 monthly payment plan for it. Something innocuous. “$5? Shit I could do that” people will say. Then you can ramp that up slowly over a decade.

Isn't Google one of the investors for FireFox?
