Gamers truly deserve less than nothing. It's an expansion to an 8 year old indie game, which I feel puts it at a fair price point. Nobody is claiming that Team Cherry is trying to undercut the industry. Frankly a vast majority of indie games these days are only a cut above shovelware. A really successful indie may rise to the top on occasion, but it's far from the norm. The industry of getting away with selling dogshit for $30+ sadly isn't going anywhere. I myself welcome getting expansion content for a price that doesn't feel like a robbery.

This this an ironic joke, it's difficult for the untrained eye to tell anything about soyteens, but I can say that whoever posted this isn't looking for a serious response.

You know that my brother hates hollow knight?
He calls it and silksong vapid games with no reason to exists solely because they are 2d platform games.
Also he plays minecraft a lot in these days, really can't care any less about his shitass redstone contraptions that only he uses in his server and looked at me like I was some kind of retarded caveman when I told him "bro haven't played minecraft in years, never cared about automatic food farming because all I need are a chicken pen and a looting+fire aspect sword".

This is a great example of how it goes both ways. Let people like the stuff they like.
Yeah, but on the other side, he told me he never heard anyone online talking about Deltarune when chapter 3 and 4 came out or even before, which means he's living a blessed existence.
Though, whenever we mention mr. beast, he has the instinctual reaction to hum "attack of the killer queen" due to getting slow brainrot for watching youtube shorts.

Funny thing about that. I played Hollow Knight in 2018 and completed basically every challenge. Spoiler: the last one is a really long boss rush against every single one, with one death leading to a total restart.

The next metroidvania I played was literally Metroid Dread. It has basically no endgame or postgame content. No boss rush, nothing. I was flabbergasted. People actually think this is acceptable.
It all goes back to polish. No, hollow Knight did not do anything oparticularly new, but that shit is polished to a mirror shine and it shows. I never gave a shit about ubisoft games, but my understanding about Ghost of Tsushima is that it's the same deal, a ubisoft open world game polished into perfection. Sometimes you just want a by the numbers game that is very high quality in implementation. Dread was... fine, but it's not Hollow knight, neither is Blasphemous, nor Blade Chimera, nor Axiom Verge, nor Guacamelee or Bloodstained. They are all fine, but Hollow Knight had the spice that makes it excel compared to all the others I listed. Only one that stuck with me nearly as much as Hollow Knight was Cave Story and Iconoclast. Iconoclast was definitely not at the scale of HK, but it was a fine romp and it had a distinct enough aesthetic and style that let it stuck in. Cave story is a legend and I don't think I need to expand on it.
Have you ever tried castlevania games or Bloodstained? I got all perfect badges (except iga) on nightmare difficulty there, not a fan of the 3d look, but it was still quite a fun experience to try.
It was meh, I still have a save file right next to the final boss that I just cannot be assed to beat. The game is ugly as sin compared to the artistry it SotN and it felt like it was jamming in mechanics on top of mechanics instead of having a focused vision. Too much options becomes clutter. It's why I'm not particularly interested in Bloodstained 2. I will very much recognize it completed all of it's backer goals and some of the extra modes are neat, and the 8 bit like game of Curse of the Moon was ace.
I am a dark souls gamer and I am about to start yelling slurs at Hornet if this bug cunt says "ADIDO" or "AGALAY" one more goddamn time.
In Silksong there is a volume toggle for her screams from what I've heard, so no need to worry there.

I'm excited for Silksong but I just can't see how I'll love it more than the first game.
All of my favorite aspects of HK came from the surprise of seeing such a simple and cheap game have so much high quality content and secrets.
Now with Silksong it's all an expectation. I expect all of the things that HK surprised me with, but I also expect even more surprises. If Silksong lacks something I loved from the first game I'd be disappointed.
There is also the fact that it may end up feeling like a rethread of the first game if the surprises are too similar. Like if they have another grub collectathon sidequest, how will they differentiate it from the first game?

It's a bit of an autismo thought I had, and hopefully once the game comes out I'll turn out wrong.
But sequels to atmosphere and lore focused games always seems a bit tricky, very few sequels to such type of games delivered, and Team Cherry has only made one game so far, they could be a one trick pony for all we know.

Anyways, I hope that they actually deliver.

My bet is it being unimpressive but functional, with it being amazing/horrible being about the same. Prefer having it be a trashfire than flavour of the month that no one talks about afterwards.

Probably the big sticking point is difficulty. I remember the first game being overall balanced with only the final boss being hard. The second might cater to trannies in being ball busting, or to journos in hand holding.

I just found that I have a HK memes folder from when I used to browse /v/.
Since we are so close to Silksong, I'm going to dump some of my favorites:

I really don't get where this hesitancy about it being good is coming from. It looks at worst to just be "More Hollow Knight" which is already not a bad thing.
Well, you never know until the thing is complete and in your hands. What we’ve seen looks good, but looks can be deceiving… Nonetheless, as someone who quite enjoyed the original (100%ing it and getting all the Steam Achievements), I’m very much looking forward to it.

There are more bad sequels than good ones.
This is true, but even then, it's kind of wild to look at a dev team that has one good game and go "Yeah, they're going to fuck it up." Maybe it's because we've gotten so jaded, but I remember when people didn't automatically assume Sequels were going to be dog shit.

Like, People didn't wait for Halo 3 or Modern Warfare 2 and go "Oh yeah, it's going to be bad." I get that times are different but It's kind of wild to me that Team Cherry, a dev team that has made one game, is getting looked at with so much scrutiny meanwhile Borderlands 4 has fans frothing at the mouth because "oh my god guys after 2 really bad mainline games they're finally fixing it"

All hollow knight meme collections could always use more classic sawblade memes.

It's more that there are a lot of established warning signs in that case. Dropping the game suddenly, being hands off with review copies, years of media silence and recycled previews. Cases of games going through those and the result being good is very small.
