Horrifying Things That Are Viewed As Normal

There’s an entire ‘genre’ of food known as “British Cuisine” that for some reason everyone pretends is just what the entirety of the island ingests and isn’t some abomination to god.
Apologise. There is absolutely nothing wrong with faggots and peas, groaty dick, toad in the hole, or rumbledethumps. Food of the gods.

Well I respect you defending it.
I'm joking, I understand why people don't like British food. And I think haggis is foul

The way we prescribe basically meth to kids who are just a active and don't like to sit in a classroom learning stuff they don't care about.
“In effect antidepressants are a means of modifying an individual's internal state in such a way as to enable him to tolerate social conditions that he would otherwise find intolerable. ...
Our society tends to regard as a sickness any mode of thought or behavior that is inconvenient for the system and this is plausible because when an individual doesn't fit into the system it causes pain to the individual as well as problems for the system. Thus the manipulation of an individual to adjust him to the system is seen as a cure for a sickness and therefore as good.”

My whole point about it is that too many bible thumpers ruin religion for me.
A staggering majority of otherwise smart and articulate people seem to have a really hard time understanding that faith, religion, the Church as an institution, and the belief in (a) God are all completely separate concepts, and that the personal belief, acceptance or mere respect for either one of them doesn't imply acceptance or condonation of all four.

Anyone who fails to make that difference should have no say in that debate, as their arguments tend to be little more than those of a 14yo edgelord spouting out-of-context Sagan quotes because they're salty at their parents for making them wake up early on Sundays. And I say this as a not particularly religious person.

Eh, a lot of the bible thumpers parrot what their church pastor tells them

And the idea that there's a being so powerful he can create the universe yet is so insecure that he will cast people who don't believe in him to hell and yet is so stupid that he won't show any proof of his existence to anyone is laughable

I've seen the same belligerence from religious people who get really rabid if you don't fall in the box of complete heathen or unthinking slave to their dogma.

Prison rape. I think even @Null mentioned it's for some reason oddly acceptable even encouraged and made light of.
Prison is punishment no matter how many bleeding hearts want to call it rehabilitation. People like to think that horrible people will be punished. That’s why we hope people like Chris Watts are getting raped on the daily.
I've been distraught about the attitude that college is the end all, be all for higher education that's permeated high schools since I was going. I didn't get it then, I didn't get it now. Society is now full of self-important retards who think they're too good to work with their hands, and what is the result? Shortages of welders, plumbers, electricians, contactors, carpenters...meanwhile people my age are working the counter at McDonald's, whining how they aren't famous Vtubers when a well paying career is just a few months away. It's just a damn shame.
I blame the union. It’s harder to become an apprentice than going in and applying. Maybe it’s different now but 10 years ago there were a ton of applicants for an apprenticeship at IBEW.
It seems it's slowly but surely turning around. Churches seem to be getting more parishioners at a slow but steady rate these days at least. You can only fill the hole in your heart with booze, vidya, weed, and junk food for so long.
Fill it with exercise, real hobbies (not video games and consumerism), and a family instead. No church required.

One still shouldn't have to worry about getting raped in prison. Prisons should have it be part of their duty to keep the prisoners safe.

It is weird that the prison-rapist is seen as some kind of folk hero in America.

The death penalty is unironically more humane than sentencing someone to get raped. Also why is the prison rapist getting rewarded by being given fresh new men to rape all the time, how is that a punishment for their crimes.

I’m assuming most prison rapists are lifers, otherwise why risk catching another charge?

I don’t think prison should be humane for murderers, rapists, and pedophiles. Call that a hot take but I’m not shedding a tear, hell I’m having a laugh at human scum being dealt 1/100th of the torture they inflicted upon others.

British prison is pretty based too.

Okay but for the prison rapist, who is also scum/bad/etc., their prison experience is a paradise of getting to rape people.

They’re locked in a cage with other bad people, why should I care? In a hierarchy where physical power and dominance means everything, there will come a time they are not the most powerful or dominant prisoner on the cell block. When that happens, they’ll get theirs either by their allies turning on them or their enemies taking advantage of their weakness.
