How do I prep for famine?

There’s probably more but this is just what I could recall off the top of my head. Good luck; if you didn’t start at least three years ago you’re probably not going to make it anyway.
Why do you say that? Are you expecting something to happen in the next three years that people already prepared will surivive but anyone who is not, will not?
Regardless of whatever else you choose to stock up on, make sure you have 100 ft of good strong rope.
Also have and learn how to use a block and tackle/pulley system. Multiplicative solution when you have only yourself to do the work

assuming you live in the first world famine is almost completely impossible. The US has since FDR been paying megafarms subsidy specifically not to overproduce as to not risk causing food market price fluctuations, productivity has always been high, other first world nations have enough money to pay to import and governments know when food gets expensive people get cranky, when people get cranky governments get toppled, they simply wont let that occur. The worst that would happen is specific items might be in short supply or otherwise not available
Ive heard most of latin america is food self sufficient but havent seen anything to back that claim up nor have I been assed to look it up. However if you live elsewhere then well, good luck to you. The war in ukraine combined with western governments sanctioning russia causing international trade to get a little screwy, ukraine cant be the breadbasket for third world importers and increased prices on fertilizers and fuel from russia further complicate this.

I would also disregard anyone telling you not to prep, nobody expected Texas to get slammed by a snow storm. There are several events in America that would benefitted from people having some foresight in preparing for them as well.
Yeah but there's a difference between "I need to prep to survive the power/water being out for a few weeks" and "I need to prep because the power/water's never coming back."

In the latter case you're more or less just prolonging your inevitable death.

The lone wolf image of someone utterly self reliant is bullshit. I've noticed what's being preached in the prepping community is forming communities and that nobody can prep for doomsday because no one knows what it is and prepping for an unknown variable is simply a waste of time and money.
Prepping for freak storms, hurricanes, earthquakes, floods, and economic depressions can be a sound strategy depending on what information is available to support the likelihood of those occurring. When Covid hit, toilet paper was at a premium for a few months and many other items were becoming more scarce until the supply chain was able to maintain demand. With the economy in the shitter and no end in sight, if that happens again, I believe the consequences will be even more catastrophic this time around.

I’m expecting the 2024 election to have serious fallout, no matter which side wins.
It‘s good that (((the media))) aren‘t overblowing every shooting of a black guy these days at Soros/Democrat insistence, so at least we no longer have hordes of Antifa/BLM burning down inner cities quite so much.
But I doubt the Dems will win without rigging, so I can only see that ending in violence no matter which way it goes.

What is going to happen is that because the US Government has declared economic war on its citizens, you need runway to win the war economically. You are being economically blockaded, so you will get through it the same way any war of attrition is won.
Wat?

How can you find out if grandpa has a shotgun or not?
It would be me, with a Fosters Slug, making brain spattered artwork behind your head

than...

Col. Custard, in the kitchen, with a lead pipe.

Yea I'm that type of Grandpa... "grins"...

Basically this.

IMO prepping for the average person shouldn't focus on some autistic kind of "siege survival" unless you actually have an entire community backing you up, and even then...who knows.

That doesn't mean you shouldn't prep at all; instead of focusing on specifically having a gigantic pantry that will last years it probably makes more sense to have like a 1-3 month stock of food/water/utilities (this should cover most disaster situations) and also have plans/tools/skills to hit the road if the need arises, as in, the government fails you or SHTF hard.

Biggest black pill for me rn is how most people don't even bother with having anything stocked other than stuff for hosting parties/dinners.
It's hard to convince 99% of the people to even have a 1 month pantry.
I'm sure having fizzy drinks during the bad times is not the worst, but still.

Learn to make your own potash if you plan to plant. Also, keep some local trees with insecticidal/fungicidal qualities around you, pesticide is a bitch to make modern ones from and you will have to make do.
Oh and a bird net of some sort.

Honestly, the best thing you can have is a community to back you up. You can't do everything, so find people who think alike and where you can pull your own weight. Make sure to specialize in something that the others can't.

I feel like there's also a chance that you could be a transient until you find such a group, but that's pretty risky and I'm not sure if the trust issues can be overcome.

I disagree, fertilizer, chemicals, irrigation parts are all on 6+ month backorder where I'm at (in the US), and that's if it gets delivered.
We lost several major ornamental nurseries during last year due to extreme weather + not being able to repair parts, fucking took me 8 months to "properly" repair a busted line because of a missing injector/components.
Lots of nigger rigging right now for us. Hell, I had to wire and soldier the automation for watering by hand because the previous dial broke. So now it's a bunch of solenoids connected to a shitty mechanical clock hand contraption I designed and built.

Should I stockpile Spam? I use it in a Hawaiian-based stir fry recipe, so it's not like I don't eat it at all. I have enough calories to live on for months, but none of it is meat.

stockpiling cans of food and water is a good idea but if you're doing this in a hypothetical famine who knows how many other people are doing this. Buy things like spam or chili, something with protein when meat is scarce. Learning how to hunt, grow and preserve shit would be the best move, rhubarb is crazy easy to grow and animals usually don't eat it as the leaves are poisonous so pickled rhubarb will be a lifesaver in the winter. learn to shoot so you can do some hunting and take a class on how to butcher an animal yourself, besides the obvious of being able to prep the meat to eat you should look for sickness in the meat. Buying as much water as possible should be your goal if you have no way of getting to a well or a source of clean running water
