Yeah no I don't remember anything like that for CM, perhapse because I was already burnt by Dragon Age II and mostly avoiding promotional material, but they still found a way to overpromote AI even to someone like me. That piece of unfun pretentious shit is the very definition of overrated.
 
I want this game to leak. I've never been more excited for the idea of a video game getting leaked since the Nintendo Gigaleaks in 2020. This is genuinely one of the funniest things to have ever come out. Part of this has resurfaced in my brain thanks to the new development of another looter shooter that's also PVP using AI voices and it's from a literal who company called "Embark Studios", and they have no games published and are working on two.

Hyenas looks like a master class example of "doubling down on trends" and failing on every aspect of them. I genuinely want to play this game out of sheer curiosity. I also heard the game was not well optimized (unsurprising) and had issues with graphical oddities such as misplaced particles. It'd be a real treat.

So here's the thing. COBOL is part of a stack used in mainframe maintainance and coding. COBOL alone will not help you without knowledge of the ZOS ecosystem along with JCL and job scheduling. There is such a large competency crisis in that field that IBM offers a free training program that gives you free time on a mainframe to learn with. They also host training seminars and networking events in irl as well.

That being said. The most money to be made with COBOL is creating a consulting company to convert COBOL to Java, and migrate datasets or IMS data to something more modern.

Yeah I know, which is why its total bullshit that the wages are so low. COBOL is byzantine stuff, there's a reason why most devs moved on decades ago.

That's cool and all but again, money, if there are so few devs and not that competent its because the pay is meh at best. And really, $60k is barely middle class bachelor wage these days, and you have to work in the worst corporate environments in America, banking and industrial. Meanwhile the codemonkeys working in a week-old JS framework for some FAANG get paid 3x more to fuck around in an adult playground most of the day.

Are they still trying to do that? heard of tons of these migrations to java that were a total dumpster fire, overbudget, over schedule and ended up running worse than COBOL and somehow cost more to maintain.

But yeah consulting is big bucks no matter what you do, like 2/3rds of those startups you see are founded by rich kids who can't even install windows so they outsource all the tech stuff, particularly to third world coders who are cheaper but not that cheap if you want good ones.

At the time this wasn't that controversial. Howard Stern said it almost every week. It was also not controversial at the time to suggest that a "developed" teenager was hot.
