I kind of want a news site skin for the site, now. Like previous April 1st redesigns. I'm imagining a KFN: Kiwi Farms News header, a lot of chrome because it would be a retro design to account for the lack of autoplaying videos and other shit from current year news sites. Maybe every thread has a BREAKING! added to it, the KF icon gets a little stylised microphone, etc.
The site already features high-quality investigative journalism supporting all the shitposts, but it's insulting to compare the posters who do such good work to a current day journalist. Any rebranding would be as shallow as a wordfilter. The only thing that makes me pause is that even a shallow change can work on some people.
In my mind, it's a purely cosmetic alteration - instead of calling ourselves shitposters or Farmers we refer to ourselves journalists. It's an in-joke, it's insulting to real journalists, people can puff themselves up trying to explain how the research and posting of an OP as a 'citizen journalist' is any different than the work of someone like Taylor Lorenz, or not at the same level of 'citizen journalism' as practiced at BLM riots.
That's about as much of a rebrand I could imagine without changing anything real about the site - a mocking reframing of how people post here without actually changing anything. We're not shitposters, we're 'misinformation reporters'. We call people faggots and troons? We're just using the language of the youth, reclaiming slurs - and troon was a self-designated term from Something Awful trans women anyway.
I'm not saying it should happen (except for a chrome colour scheme), and it's basically the 'what is a woman?' gambit but applied to journalism instead. I don't think it would be anything like an effective defence instead of just a sitewide shitpost. I guess I just think there's idiots enough on the internet that a few who don't know about the Farms already would fall for it, which could be funny.
