I'm a tourist. Watched a Chuglogic stream, and this dudes cuck-fetish and bankruptcy brought me here. I went ahead and watched the video he made on the subject so I could get a sense of how he got into this situation. He lists the following details:
- Settling credit card debt
- Settle personal loans, I guess including people who bailed him out
- 30% tax on freelance work? This could be payroll tax of some kind or self-employment tax (15.3% of net earnings, including 12.4% for social security and 2.9% for medicare), although youtube and other websites might do things differently
- He also lists the spinal injury which could be expensive
- He owes back taxes
- The $3.2k-$3.5k for rent, which other people showed in the thread and in his youtube comment section
He notes a few interesting points which show off his financial habits
- He doesn't take ad revenue or sponsors
- He floats the idea of PART-time work, maybe
- He notes he is juggling free-lancing and school
- He asks himself "What if I wasn't a youtuber, and what would I do, etc?"
- He's been operating at a loss for 7 years
- He's was apparently living off of foodstamps when he started the channel
- He has apparently been more financially stable (doubt)
- "All of your favorite youtubers are doing worse than you think"
- Writing reviews of movie's and games as possible revenue stream, including 1-minute review patreon tier-list
- Wanted to do an idea where "the good guys lose"
- Project with another youtuber Willow, but was connected to a patreon re-launch
- Works on a lot of stuff apparently, but is not sure it will come out
- Made a decision after the Trump election to wrap up the Alt-Right playbook
So based on (very limited) information I know directly from him, I think I can try to piece together what his basic income/expenses may look like.
Income:
- Basic Monetized Income from YT: $4,000-$5,000 a month, provided that is an accurate number. On Noxinfluencer, the estimate is at $3,865 a month currently
- Ad and Sponsor Revenue: Nothing, as he mentions he's disabled ads on his videos and criticized them even now. I have gone ahead and watched a couple other videos he's made, and he doesn't seem to do sponsors at all
- Patreon Income: Currently $3,753 per month with 1331 patrons based on graphtreon. He's still in the dolldrums with income, which peaked at $4,696 in 2021 at 1789 members
- Nebula: I have no idea how much he earns from nebula. Apparently it's a 50/50 split between Nebula and the creator, and Innuendo Studios site advertizes $36 per year. Still, who knows
Total income could be about $8000-$9000 from content creation.
Expenses
- Rent: The maximum rent was $3,500 for rent since he lives in an expensive part of Boston
- Spinal Injury: It's very possible he could be paying out costs of helping fix his back, IF he did get any medical treatment. Depending on the back injury and severity, he's looking at between $10,000 - $200,000. I don't know the circumstances of this injury
- Education: The Massachusetts College Of Art and Design costs between $41,044-$69,884 for 1 year, and the California College of the Arts costs between $89,594-$95,112 for 1-2 years of attendance. I don't think he went a full 4 years, as normal for any American college student and these prices are current day. However, they are probably not very different from when he was attending. These are probably where the loans he's taken out are coming from, as I have a hard time seeing him pay off any of this education expense with either his old job as a writer or a youtuber.
- Taxes: Apparently, he owes back-taxes, meaning he's not been paying them. This would've come out of his income he's been making, and since that's only from youtube and patreon, he's paying approximately $1,224-$1,337 in taxes, income tax wise. He's renting, so he should be paying property taxes at all. Massachusets also has a 5% income tax applied to residents, and so that further decreases the revenue. Massachusets also has plenty of other individual taxes such as an 8% sales tax, but I don't know any approximate financials to apply them to besides income. It should be only 15.3% on the federal level, and 5% at the massachusets level. So I am not sure where the other 10% comes from.
- Credit Card Debt: Who knows what he could be spending. He was very brief when he mentioned this, but he could easily be overpurchasing or trying to use his credit card to pay off other debts he has. Too little info to make a judgement though it is a super relevant detail since credit card debt would reveal general spending habits he has.
Unfortunately, expenses are less clear to estimate as they could be paid as a lump sum, monthly, or some other time interval. In addition, they vary wildly on how expensive they could be. If he was just dealing with rent and taxes, he'd be able to easily cover expenses as his videos do not require that much work and effort. However, he's got loans from unknown sources, but possibly from student debt and/or taking loans to pay off medical expenses, and an unknown amount of credit card debt
His biggest issues are obviously the fact he's only done 79 videos in 10 years as a youtuber, barely considering doing part-time work even though he should be getting 2 jobs and quitting youtube if he's not making videos consistently. Aka, he's probably chronically lazy and seeing all the money just come in from youtube and patreon and whatever other sites he gets probably made him complacent, a common trend for breadtubers. He also needs better bulls, as the current ones fucking his partner apparently do not give any financial assistance to him whatsoever. I don't think he's very competent with finances, since he has been living on foodstamps before becoming a youtuber.
I wish there was more info available, it'd be easier to gleam what he's actually doing with his money. 50/50 chance he repeats this situation. I highly doubt being a youtuber made him broke.
