how closely are these organiations intertwined with the US government?
i know america has some legal mechanisms that explicitly forbit US courts from acknowledging foreign court orders that would violate the first amendment in america, could something similar be made to apply to attempted domain seizure? a foreign government trying to seize registrations from a legal and law abiding american business inside america seeems a bit of an encroachment on national sovereignty, no?

Obama literally stole ICANN, a US nonprofit, and gave it to the UN directly.

It's also worth mentioning that ICANN used to have a direct relationship with the Department of Commerce, which meant that there was government oversight in how it operated. I don't believe that is the case anymore.

kiwifarms.org is already taken, probably by some tranny to domain squat and redirect to pro-troon sites. Would it be possible to take it back?

That would most likely shake off a fair bit of the sites activity but the old dog has changed the forum name before like the quicky to kiwi.

I dont think Null wants to change the name tho, lots of attention good and bad is tied to the name

I wonder if we will see this lead to a real boom in Dark Web activity and make TOR and the like go more mainstream. I have seen people push for some Tor alternatives to also expand the market like Lokinet but that stuff doesn't seem to get off the ground. I am worried we might see people actually have to turn into direct connections to servers to keep their shit free due to corpo and globo faggotry making it impossible to run a site that isn't pozzed to hell and back. A rebirth of BBS in a way.

Things are really getting bad out there. The lights are going out, we may not live to see them light again.

Have .com domains been seized for “hate speech” before? It seems that most domains get seized for piracy, actual criminal activity, and if they are part of the Iranian government. Kiwifarms does not do any of that, as far as I am aware of. So a slight whitepill is that I don’t see Kiwifarms getting shut down the second this change would go through.

.ORG is probably what I would go with.

This sucks because I've always used .NET, not only am I weird about shit like that and for some reason I think it's a cool TLD, but mainly because I knew Verisign didn't really take shit from mad troons. The whole DNS root makes me want to kill myself, and I've been looking into stuff like OpenNIC, but that kinda goes against the "it should be accessible by any retard with buttons" ruling.

Namecoin is another option, but it's not that widespread yet. More than OpenNIC, as far as I know, though. If you use the Brave browser, it should automatically have support for Namecoin domains, which is badass. Last I checked, all available kiwifarms domains had been registered already, hopefully by Josh, but I doubt it.

I was confusing Namecoin with Unstoppable Domains, which is a very similar project. Same idea, though.

You had .st, .ru, .tw, and .hk before, and maybe some others.

You're just going to have to get several of the ones that haven't been squatted by haters and see what survives the next wave of negative attention. If you're lucky, the proposal won't go through or kiwifarms.net won't be seized. If you're very unlucky, madattheinternet.com will be seized an hour from now, or during your show tomorrow.
