Iconic/odd images of the early internet

Saw the original posted earlier and I was sure I had some GWB shoe dodge edits too.

Shit are we doing videos too? Because I've been going on an archiving rampage for the last few months any time I think of some old thing that got shared around. Idk what definition of early internet we're working with but I'm trying to keep it to pre-2008 at least.
One of the first YT videos I remember watching and it bangs

Also this one I can't seem to archive for some reason.

I remember when this video was first posted, it was a surprise hit. It's a song & video remix by a musician known as "rx". His personal website is ThePartyParty.com which is still somehow online to this day but web rot has done a real number on it. (The name of the website is a fictional political party.) "Sunday Bloody Sunday" is the oldest and most viewed video on his channel, but he had another hit that absolutely did not fly but was big on YTMND. That song is "Who's The Nigga?" and it's another remix of George W Bush.

I still come back to this ancient video...
Cows Cows Cows

It served 2 separate and very important purposes. It un-ironically is a great video for set-up of sound systems due to the tonal changes in sound throughout the video.... and also is a good judgment of the character of the people when I see their reactions as I'm dialing in their laptops/AV setups.

Cyriak was a poster on b3ta.com, a very old British proto-imageboard that was extremely influential from about 2002-2007. Think of it as a SFW British 4Chan. b3ta was the first internet community that I became a real member of; I joined SA when b3ta began to wane towards the end of the 2000s. If you know names like Joel Veitch, Jonti Picking (whose sense of humour absolutely DID NOT translate to the US as his "Spongmonkeys" Quiznos ads can testify), Cassetteboy, Weebl, HappyToast and SwedeMason, those guys are all b3ta alumni.

The site still exists, but seems to be a way for its owner to have a very visible midlife crisis as he tries to be as influential as he was in his 20s. The site itself is full of the usual troons and detritus that dying websites often contain, with middle-aged men making lame jokes about Mrs Thatcher. It's quite sad really, the UK had its own little internet culture based on absurdist humour that got demolished by social media juggernauts overwriting everything with American internet culture and troonery.

Some of the above's work:

Joel Veitch/7 Seconds of Love

As I recall, some neuroscientist did a paper on why some people swear they can hear this .gif

Cassetteboy:

SwedeMason:

These things are all my internet happy place.

There was also Dan Bull but fuck Dan Bull I'm not ruining this post with his smug bullshit

Those Spongmonkeys commercials are one of the most remembered things about Quizno's, after being a financial mismanagement scandal and actually having pretty good subs. There are a smattering of them left but it's a shell of its former self.

Oh yeah, that all ties in to the absurd non sequitur type of humor that just makes me laugh. And it should be noted that Jonti IS Weebl. 😉

Oh and again just because, WHARRGARBL.
