I would probably pay money to watch/hear/read those convos Chris had with his own characters.. Seems like it will be a very surreal read.
I'm not trying to say that I disagree with the concept that Chris truly believes he is talking to his characters; Marvin has stated many times that is the case and, generally, Marv isn't in the wrong. The idea seems logical and, certainly, it holds together while explaining the very odd actions Chris has taken throughout this saga.
The problem I'm having is in coming to terms with *how* Chris can believe he is speaking with his own characters. I understand that the line between reality and fantasy is very blurred for Chris at the best of times and, with his life in the real world spiralling further out of his control, he desperately wants to believe that CWCville is real and that he can go there and live permanently. I even understand that Chris views his creative processes (his dreams and the ideas he comes up with) as his characters telling him what is going on with their lives, which Chris merely chronicles.
But, still, (well, to me, at least) there is a big difference between Chris fantasizing something, convincing himself Sonichu told him it happened, and drawing it into his comic than there is with some random person contacting him, telling Chris that he is Sonichu and filling his skull with all of the nonsense that we've seen ( to say nothing of the stuff that goes against the canon Chris has already established). I just find it hard to comprehend that Chris would blithely accept all of that as fact and dutifully publish it. After all, at some point deep down, doesn't Chris realize that Sonichu really isn't real, or is he truly that stupid and/or delusional?
The risky part of it, especially if/when the info dump happens, is how Chris will react to it all.
The info dump will happen. It has to. If it doesn't, there is no point at all to Idea Guy's trolling. While a good part of the Quinn saga happened privately, the breakup and the resulting fallout were public. Otherwise, how could Quinn (or Idea Guy, for that matter) try to cement his/her status as a master troll?
As you kindly mentioned, this is a
significant intrusion into his hugbox, it's basically 1000 x Simonla, and depending on how he reacts, things couldpotentially get better for him, because the way I see it, he only has 2 alternatives once this story is over:
- He recognizes that his need to believe in CWCville is the loophole that enabled this troll plot to succeed, forcing him to close it by ceasing his belief that cartoon characters are real, because if he doesn't, then weens will make his life an even bigger living hell, because you know they will try to find that in and tell Chris that Sonichu went Benoit on his family or something unfunny like that (

).
- He possibly freaks his shit at first, but then disregards it all, and continues to retreat into this newly-tainted hugbox after CTRL+Zing everything, however, this may possibly present a paradox to his mind, because his continued belief in real CWCville means that trolls still have a shot of messing with him, so he will need time to parse out this contradiction and find a new exceptional workaround that allows him to bypass it, this may or may not need a long exile.
- I know I said 2 solutions, but Chris is easily exceptional enough to find another idiotic alternative, so I'm keeping this one open.
I don't mean to sound cold but life goes on for Chris. It always does. One of the most admirable things about Chris is that he somehow manages to bounce back from everything. Yes, the Simonla incident kept Chris from writing Sonichu for a while but I'm pretty sure that, in his mind, things continued on their merry way in CWCville. Then, when Chris realized he could get Patreonbux from publishing Sonichu, he started publishing it again.
More than likely, #2 will happen. Chris has already been forced to face the Simonla paradox once, he dealt with it, and emerged none the worse for wear. Once the Idea Guy comes clean, I have no doubt that Chris will retcon everything he doesn't like, add in more ponies, and life in CWCville will continue unabated. After all, one of the benefits of being a god/dictator of your own little world means that things don't need to be logically consistent.
