That is exactly my point... Seriously autistic people can't choose to focus on something other than what their autism focuses them on. It isn't that they can't focus, it's that they focus too good, but only on the thing that their autism forces them to randomly glom onto. I suspect the focus is fixed in childhood. That's why so many autistic people focus on cartoon shows, toys and comic books.
I suppose if Chris happened to make a fetish out of pushing a broom or scrubbing toilets, he might be able to get a job. But he doesn't happen to be focused on that. The only thing he can do is what we see him focused on... diddling with toys, drawing crude comic books, massaging his tits... and NO ONE is going to give him a job doing any of those things.
Autism is actually a terrible illness. It isn't something I would wish on my worst enemy. Science should be working on discovering the cause and finding a cure for it. Until then, society is stuck providing a safety net to people like Chris who are completely unable to function. At least Chris is entertaining in a very public and stupid way. If he didn't have that going for him, no one would care about him at all and no one would be complaining about his tugboat.
