I have always thought that this autistic place was inevitably destined for the US supreme court one day. It may still be, but I as a simple mindless observer would not be the one carrying that weight, and its nobodies place to demand it of you.

You owe us nothing Null. You have already gone above and beyond what any admin should be required to do "for free".

I'm new here but I'm happy I found the place. What little I do know about you from lurking and seeing your posts, you're a good guy. We're around the same age and surprised you've dealt with this shit as long as you have with little to no reward.

You did create something that is becoming increasingly hard to find on the internet as time passes, a place where people can express themselves freely without repercussions. I use this site more than any other social media platforms anymore, and feel more at home here than I have in a while during my limited experience. That's something I haven't felt since the late 90s/early 2000s.

No matter where you go from here, I wish you well and thank you for creating something like this and sticking your neck out for a bunch of anonymous people that just want to be able to say what they want without censorship.

Not trying to be obnoxious, but consider getting some exercise. Bursts of intense physical exertion can do wonders for your mental state, and this has been extensively proven across a variety of fields. Go for a jog every once in a while, consider a casual gym membership, start pushups or something, it doesn't have to be a crazy regimen. I realize this won't do much for the site situation, but independent of that it may help raise your spirits a bit.

@Null honestly i appreciate your stances and how you stand up for free speech, there is you and only a handle of randos on the internet who still speak their mind, it has become rare in todays times to find those who actually still stand for free speech. Those who did advocate for free speech in the past have relented on their positions and given it all up for profit and fame. I just want to say if you ever do decide to leave, thank you for the comfy streams, knowledge and insight you provided over the years.

I'm a little older than you but not by much, not that it matters. These times have been particularly hard on people. Is it the cancel culture or social politics it seems lurking around every corner or the pandemic or the economy I have no idea but something has definitely piled ontop of people and heavy enough that it's crumpled them. Maybe you're like me and you just finally had the time to see yourself clearly without the hustle and bullshit of everyday life to hide it. I left my job because I was finally able to see how fucking trapped and unhappy I was and that my life was being pissed away. I hardly saw my friends or family and when I did they'd comment on how miserable I seemed to be. I think I sort of know what you're feeling and I'm sorry you're feeling this way. But if it matters, and 37+ pages should prove that it does, people care about this place but more importantly care about you and your wellbeing. I lurk more than I comment but I love this place though it has changed negatively in some ways over the years. The fun isn't quite the same and the magic has dwindled. Sometimes you have to let people down to do what's right for you and whatever you choose to do I think most people here would be supportive, even if it meant gradually or completely closing the farms. Lastly, we're not robots and we're entitled to be conflicted and have our ideals shift as we grow and anyone who says otherwise is probably the same undeveloped person they were as a teenager. Null you've put more into this place than most people can say about any project they've ever tackled so I hope from here whatever it is you choose to do is for you and not the site.

We all know that if Null really wanted to he could destroy all political discussion on this website. Why put up with things that you don't like? Contrary to popular belief it is very much possible to affect change from the top down, if Null structures the website in such a way that it encourages posting about lolcows and punishes posting about politics people will leave because as Null puts it; "What people truly want is not freedom, they want consistency and convenience." and if using the site for political discussion is highly inconvenient people will leave. Easy solution

It would suck to lose the farms, there's simply no replacement out there. Reddit clones and image boards are no where near as effective a format as the old fashioned forum. And this place has become a real watering hole in the dry desert that is the modern internet. Coming here and seeing people speak without filters can be refreshing, when they're not screeching about niggos and da joos.

That said, starting a family is pretty much the most worthwhile endeavor any man can undertake. There's no way this forum can bring anywhere near as much meaning to your life as a family, if it comes down to a choice between the two. I hope that it does not.

Do what is best for you. I have no idea who hangs out here anymore but I guarantee there's someone willing to take the reigns and won't fuck it up. If they do, someone will just create a better forum and the cycle begins again. When you're out of the game, so to speak, it shouldn't matter what happens. People might not like hearing that from me, but you gotta do what it takes to keep yourself sane.
