I don't know about anyone else but if I had a friend who is homeless, dirtier than dirt, has obvious mental problems, and threatens to kill himself every two weeks I don't care how he'd take it I'd get him some desperately needed help he could hate me for it but it's a life being saved.

Parental neglect. If we say, for argument's sake, that a lot of his childhood abuse was real, that makes it more obvious, but I think for the most part it is him coming from a destabilized household and he probably inherited some mental shit from his mother.

There is an explanation for why Phil started off with a bad hand in life, but there is no real excuse for him never getting over it, the vast majority of people have childhood scars from one thing or another, some worse than others, but what makes us adults is that we accept these things and move on, we don't let it become something that drags us down, it just becomes part of who we are. I don't think Phil ever made it over that hump.

I do not come from the best childhood ever, either, but I made it a point in my life to never suffer my experiences and to try to learn from every bad thing in my life. ADF got a bad hand and he just walked away from the table instead of understanding that you can win the game even with a valueless start, then he spent his entire life complaining about it, even though it was his own quitter's attitude that got him where he is today.
