Infamous series Thread - For the Demons of Empire City / Saints of New Marais (oh yeah and the Second Son crowd too)

Since the series lets you choose to be a hero or villain, one of the challenges is that Cole needs to credibly be a hero or villain. Note how his girlfriend hears Cole was a terrorist bomber - and she believes it, without even a "He fooled me. I never would have thought..."
I played Good, and my headcanon was that Cole was always a bit of a selfish prick, but the situation and getting powers made him re-evaluate his life and resolve to do better.
And I guess the same needs to apply to Cole's friend Zeke.

Really enjoyed the first 2, especially 2. Only checked out Second Son recently through Ps Now. Didn't get far enough to judge it as a whole but had to groan when the first thing you had to do was shake your controller like a paint can then awkwardly use it to tag a billboard. Always roll my eyes when I put in an early Ps4 or 3 title and remember "oh yeah that didn't stick."
The best were the crack fiend devs that decided to put it in a game at the end of a console's lifespan.

i liked both games. to bad second son was midcore at best. prototype is another ps3 classic i liked but it got fucked into the dirt after just one game.

The first game is one of my favorites for the PS3. I haven't finished inFamous 2 yet, but I like it so far.
Second Son was good, but my main issue with it was the steep difficulty curve. Giving almost every enemy a machine gun and dropping the shield power was a bad combination.
Both of the expansions were also good, especially the arena in First Light.

second son was eh story-wise, couldn't care less about delsin and his shitfuck friends but the power ups are cool. I like the neon and tv power the best and melee combat is more fun in second son but nothing tops infamous 2, cole is a real nigga

I think the real problem with Second Son's story was well...the fact that conduits exist. Second Son is meant to be set after the good ending of 2 where, spoilers, every conduit (including Cole) die to destroy this plague killing humanity and Second Son was never able to come up with a decent excuse as to why they are still around. They just did the whole "Oh, some werent effected..." why? "Oh they have aww this immunity to the ray field suppressor explosion" how? "Awww....."

Yeah, maybe if these conduits were artificially created, maybe I could buy it but the fact that there are conduits when they are ALL meant to be dead and gone, even those that simply HAD the gene but didnt manifest any powers yet, just is the game's way of telling you to just "go along with it".

It was sorta explained that the Plague changed to activate the Conduit Gene afterwards.

Augustine and her paper girl living is also unexplained especially since both were in Empire city during the 1st bomb.

Best explanation would be that they've been bunkered down and the RFI couldn't reach them in an airtight environment.

So the RFI could reach people from all over the globe but aparently an airtight environment will do the trick?

See, this is why Second Son pretty much retcons the good ending of 2 because Sucker Punch wrote themselves into a corner so they had to cheat.

Honestly if they went with the whole "artificially created" after the deaths of all the original conduits, they wouldn't have had that much of an issue story wise, and not have to retcon the good ending of Infamous 2

Exactly, just set it a decade after 2 where they are being able to artificially create conduits from birth, that would have solved the issue and maybe those artificial conduits could give birth to natural ones in further sequels.

There, we solved the problem without retconning Infamous 2.

Also would have made a better story than Second Son. Imagine these new conduits having to decide whether they're bound to continue to be selfless like Cole, or to use their powers how they wish. It would make the name make more sense as well, especially if Delsin was the first prototype or something, hence his ability to sponge powers off other conduits.

Wow, way to make a better sense off of his powers than what the game actually came up with.

Imagine if there was a conduit with Cole's powers, and they would replace Augustine as the main villain. His/Her motivation could be that they despise "do gooder" conduits that emulate Cole, and hate Cole in general since he made the choice for all conduits to sacrifice them for "weaker beings". Their whole motivation could be taking revenge on the humans that killed off the "First Sons" of the conduits by enslaving them and having a class of subhumans who don't have powers.

Interactions on a "Hero" run: Obviously you want to carry on Cole's ideas and the thought that you should use your powers for good, protecting the weak from those who wish to do them harm and benefitting society.

Interactions on a "Evil" run: You don't want to kill all humans. You want the same thing that the main villain, but you want the power for yourself. So you fight with them for control over who gets to be the head conduit.

delsin's smoke manipulation is fiery enough to be considered a fire manipulation power i guess? yknow with smoke being a byproduct of fire and all
