Infamous series Thread - For the Demons of Empire City / Saints of New Marais (oh yeah and the Second Son crowd too)

I'm also disappointed there isn't a gussied up port of the Cole games on something better than PS3. If games like Uncharted, Prototype, and Bioshock can have them, so should Infamous.

Especially since there shouldnt be any sort of that exclusivity stuff for games from a console from two generations back. Imagine what PC could do for the cole duology.

Prototype was more about the mystery then moral choices, or the characters aside from alex, and also cool body horror powers. But I feel ya when you say it's a slog.
I think Prototype's biggest downside is that the peak fun is right at the start of the game, before the apocalypse begins in earnest. Once society collapses going apeshit in time square and slaughtering a hundred innocent peds with body horror powers loses its appeal when they're all zombies and there's crazy shit happening everywhere. Infamous has a better sense of progression, with enemy variety too, the combat gets more fun in those games the further along you get. In Prototype you're accosted by so many tanks by the endgame that using anything other than whip or gigafist is completely pointless.
it never felt to me like a true sequel to the series.
Continuing on from the good ending was the major issue, I think. Cole's sacrifice ending with a 'but not really lol!' kind of undersells the impact of that game. A sequel where he was the villain would have been kino, or they should have just brought him back from the start.

Second Son feels like a sequel in terms of movement and power selection, but it's a regression in almost every other regard. Tiny story, few missions, half-baked extended cast, complete absence of some of the weirder part of the lore like the First Sons, etc;
I can appreciate Sucker Punch pulling the plug after SS which felt kind of half assed and without any direction.
I'm hoping that a new developer might take the series in some fun directions that Suckerpunch wouldn't. I would rather have a Ghost of Tsushima sequel from them, rather than another Infamous, since that game was awesome but would be even better with some refinement, similar to how Infamous 2 was such a massive step up from 1.

For a series called Infamous, it sure loves to make the Hero endings canon, dont they? Im not even kidding when I say that the devs were surprised to see gamers prefering the hero endings (originally they would make the evil ending of 2 canon but after checking some stats, they saw that the overwhelming majority favorited the good ending so they went with that one).

If there is a series that needs a remake is Infamous

It's a series that doesn't allow for much doubt in the morality scale, it's not like you can spread out a variety of skills. You either have to be consistently very good or very bad to get upgraded skills in either skill tree.
