Apparently the CEO Tommy Tallarico has been going around saying the Switch has CP on it among other "wacky" things.
When consumers have choices, everyone wins. Amico might be a good choice for people who like to play fun video games like Earthworm Jim with their friends and family, whereas a Switch might be the more appropriate console for child molesters who like watching naked girls get their skulls smashed open with sledgehammers.

So we have a new Atari meme console and a new Intellivision meme console, where’s the Colecovision?

Actually someone try that a couple years ago with the Coleco Chameleon. It was supposed to look like the Atari Jaguar with a Wii U Pro Controller. It was never released after the owner got busted trying to uses a SNES in a Atari Jaguar case as a prototype for the New York Toy Fair show.

apparently games are going to be distributed on physical media. that's pleasantly unexpected, a notch up from the atari vcs and every other digital-only game consoles.

From what I read, there only going to be a few games that going to get physical release in a Limited Run style of release but I think you still need to download the game anyways since I dont see an cartridge shot or anything on the system.

Except they are not. Tallarico keeps hemming and hawing about what the physical media is while also saying its a NFT and needs the internet to function.

Looks like Rei Bear got an interview with Tommy a little while back. I wonder if Tallarico has any clue what kind of drama magnet she is.

Feels like almost no one talked about the Amico during their big day on E3.
btw, did you guys know there are two main Amico subreddits?
One is the official one where you're not allowed to criticize Tommy Tallarico or his baby, it's r/amico
The other one is where you can criticize Tommy's actions and his baby, but not Tommy himself because it's reddit, and he's a user there. So criticizing him could lead to him reporting them. Anyways, that subreddit is r/Intellivision_Amico

To add a bit of spice to this thread, I'll quote a few posts reacting to Tommy's appearance on the Dick Show. It's a lot, so I'll do some tl;dr versions:

Tallarico did a poor job promoting the Amico. He quickly contradicts himself by moaning about mobile gaming, but then promoted an app as the Amico's selling point. Fails to justify the price of his piece of junk. Then, Tommy says he forgot the controls of a game after not playing it for a few days...
Episode 212 is alright, not as good as last week's, Dick had Tommy Tallarico on as a guest, famous for composing the soundtrack to Color a Dinosaur:

and apparently he's working on the new Earthworm Jim game, so Dick really wanted him to discuss it. Problem is, Tallarico clearly only agreed to come on to promote his new video game system he's making, the Intellivision Amico, and he's terrible at it. At 1:03:18, Tallarico says "The problem with mobile, of course, is that, it's solitary! It's you with your head buried in your phone, and-" (Dick interjects) "And it hurts! It sucks to play! Like it hurts your fingers after a while, it's, I think it's limiting". Tallarico ignores that, and launches into his marketing pitch which clumsily includes (at 1:04:52) a mention of his FREE APP where others can connect their phones to use as controllers.

Man, that's a painfully clumsy marketing pitch. You just trashed the entire notion of mobile gaming, but then you go on to promote an app as one of your console's selling points? And didn't even consider adjusting your pitch promoting phones as controllers right after Dick trashed the notion? Dude, come on.

Tallarico goes on to say, at 1:05:15:
"My two biggest things is I wanna provide value, and trust. That's it. I'm not, you know, w- w- Money isn't the most important thing. You know, my grandfather would always tell me, if you provide trust and value to someone, then the success and the money, that-that comes later. But should never be your focus, and I think most video game companies have gotten away from that. It's all about the bottom line, all about the dollar, and so we're just coming at it in a different way. Let's build value and trust."

The Intellivision Amico is a whopping $250. Does, uh... does Tommy Tallarico know that's $50 more than a Nintendo Switch Lite? Or $150 more than an Ouya? Even the Wikipedia article makes it sound like crap. Hell, before the pandemic, you could get a used PS4 or an Xbox One for cheaper than an Amico, too. It's kinda hard to sell your system under the notions of trust and value when you're asking serious console prices for the Ouya 2.0.

Dick does try to take it back around to talking about games in general not being so simple anymore, how politicized they can be, eventually talking about how long it takes for systems to update, and at 1:08:29, Tallarico goes on to mention how much he loves the Red Dead franchise, but managed to forget all the controls 3-4 days after not playing it. Dick goes on to say how he just can't get along with bumpers on game controllers.

All I can think of are these kind of infomercial gifs:

You are the worst salesman, Tommy Hussein Tallarico.

Aaaaaaaaaand that's where I'm pausing for now. Lord almighty, for someone whose been in the industry since the early days, Tallarico sure seems tone deaf on how to sell his machine. Watch Game Center CX and Gaming Historian sometime, Tallarico, and you'll hear all about how Nintendo got their start and managed to become as big as they did. The vision behind how the NES was designed was simply as a way to play Donkey Kong at home. That's it. The modular catridges and extra face button allowed the system to be future-proofed for later games, and they soon had a hit on their hands. Strong games can ensure a healthy console. I don't see a single strong game you're selling the Amico with yet, Tallarico. So get on that. Give us a reason to drop a fat stack of cash on your machine aside from a vague "muh simplicity".

also I typed all of that without even listening to Tallarico's entire segment so if he says anything later on that invalidates something I said, then, uh, oops.
One user shits on his takes from the Judgment Day era, and pokes a big hole in the usual "Tallarico was the first person to put a guitar in a video game"
Tallarico is a egotistical dipshit.

I used to suffer though Judgment Day every day after school. You think modern game journalists reviews are shit, this guy (despite not being a journalist) managed to have the shittiest takes all the time. Hated REmake 1, hated Guilty Gear (which is ironic, you'd think the cousin to Steven Tylor would get the heavy metal/rock theme of the game, something Tommy didnt get and hated especially the music) and well, outright dismissed all fighters that werent DOA (DOA has purdy graphics!!11!)

Also don't point out he wasn't the first person to put a guitar to a video game (Gate of Thunder beat Terminator Sega CD by a year) or he'll get upset. He really likes to tell people that it was him to introduce guitars to video games.

He's been coasting on Earthworm Jim for most of this life but has anyone ever listened to the music lately? It's pretty basic bitch video game music with more interesting things happening elsewhere both in terms of composition and technical achievment on those systems.

Besides, he's to blame for the Genesis getting a bad rep for it's sound chip since I think he had something to do with that awful GEMS music program the westerners used all the time with great failure.
Another user links to a compilation of Tallarico fearmongering.
All you need to know about Tallarico's sales pitch is in this video with highlights of Tommy yelling about rape and child porn on Nintendo.
A user shit all over Tallarico's marketting, and rightfully so. The guy got defensive over the Amico being compared to the Ouya, but failed to provide a good defense.
HAHAHAHAHAHA! I knew he was a piece of shit, but he sounds like a fucking lolcow.

I listened to the rest of his appearance on The Dick Show, and from where I left off, Dick read out some people in chat outright saying "this sounds like the Ouya", which launched Tallarico (and Dick) straight into defensive mode. So many excuses, but not a single reason why we shouldn't assume this is just another Ouya. Shit, it was so bad I considered getting back on my computer and commenting with more timestamps, but I'd end up writing a novel for how obnoxious and stupid he was acting. The only smart part about this thing is apparently he's marketing it to Christian audiences, but he still has jack shit in terms of games to show off. The only game mentioned for the system was the new Earthworm Jim.

Nobody actually on the show held Tallarico's feet to the fire at all, and I'm sure Vito was itching to scream at him from wherever he was. Shame Vito couldn't have been on the show. Hell, I'd gladly grill the fuck out of Tallarico if I were on. Weird-ass video game hardware? You're in my house now, mothafucka.

Tallarico even ended it with something like "All I ask for the naysayers is to give it a chance when it comes out." Motherfucker, when you go shopping for a car and you find a shitty hooptie next to a nice, normal-looking car at the same price, do you honestly need to test drive the hooptie first to prove to yourself that maybe it's somehow magically better than the name-brand one that doesn't look like garbage? You are so bad at marketing this thing, Tallarico. Show off some fucking games. Give some clear-cut obvious reasons why someone should fork over a fat stack of cash for your machine other than fearmongering and vague nostalgia. Fucking Google Stadia had better marketing than what you're giving the Amico. Give us one solitary reason why your console is not the Ouya, because you haven't done that yet, and you dodge the question when it comes up.

By the way, they barely talked about Earthworm Jim. Tallarico kept spinning it back to his pitches about his Amico. God, he's just so bad at marketing this stupid thing. Hire me, Tallarico, let me market it for you. Here are my qualifications:

-fat
-sperg
-owns lots of roms
-i poop a lot
-i beat Mega Man 9 and Super Meat Boy
-top comment on at least 3 youtube videos with over 100k views
-pretty decent peepee if you know what i mean

MAD AT THE INTERNET alert.
Tommy Tallarico got mad at Ars Tecnica for some article where they posted about publicly available information. Legal threats were dished out, and this got him some spotlight in a negative manner.
The best part is that Patrick fuckin Klepek got to dunk on him in the original thread. When Klepek gets a slam dunk on you like this, you fucked up.
Back to the first link, though, the OP of that one found out that Tallarico has a track record of getting mad at the internet, and Tommy's use of the term "gaming racist"
Matt McMuscles took note of this little shitshow, with just a reaction image of Revy from Black Lagoon.
It doesn't need to be said directly at him - the Amico and Tommy are a What Happened video waiting to be made.
Pat the NES Punk got his shot in
Another user says there's so much more

r/Intellivision_Amico - the unofficial subreddit for the Amico, has been keeping receipts of Tommy's sperging on Youtube comments.
If I'm not mistaken, this is the article that Tommy's mad about.

btw, Tommy deleted the tweets where he threatened legal action against Ars Technica and walked all that shit back.
You can check the mentioned subreddit for other receipts.

As someone who loved following the RetroVGS/Coleco Chameleon debacle it is legit depressing to me that AtariAge, the forum who documented and tore that project apart, immediately become Tommy Tallarico taint lickers simply because he posted there. I have no idea if they're soycucks most of the time, but when I first heard about this a year or so ago I headed over to check it out and was shocked to see the absolute shillery. Guess Mike Kennedy should have graced his presence there more often, they would have covered for claiming an old capture card was a prototype console.

This thing will probably exist in late 2022 and be permanent feature at goodwills for years.
Also Tommy Tallarico's music has always been overrated and his review show on G4 was straight greasy ass.

Did you see that AtariAge is trying to use the Byuu stuff to shield Tallarico from criticism?

When I think of this “system,” I’m reminded of a review for Wii Music, Nintendo’s notorious flop. I’m paraphrasing, but the review said that Wii Music is Nintendo’s solution to a problem that they imagined. Same deal here. The only way I could see this actually addressing a real concern is if the console was $50.

He's weirdly known as a video game musician, yet I've never actually heard about anything he's composed other than Color a Dinosaur. I guess he just has a bigger name than Jeremy Soule and Jesper Kyd because he's an attention whore.

His discography on Wikipedia isn't impressive, either. How the hell is he so well known? Because he kissed all the right ass in the industry and acted like a dickhead on Judgment Day?

He doesn't have a legacy like other VGM composers like Motoi Sakuraba or Yuzo Kushiro IMO, but the Terminator Sega CD music is pretty good.

So apparently the Amico is supposed to come out two days after the new Switch model and some of the idiots are now saying that Nintendo did this because they are trying to sabotage the amico console launch. Like come on, I don't even think Nintendo Of Japan knows who Tommy Tallarico is and what a intellivision is too.

What exactly is Tallerico's lifelong beef with Nintendo? He's been like that for decades.
