It's nowhere near October, but one ensemble is already on track to be named the most controversial Halloween costume of 2015.

Social media users were out in full force on Monday criticizing several Halloween retailers for offering a Caitlyn Jenner costume reminiscent of the former-athlete's Vanity Fair cover earlier this year.

While Jenner's supporters condemned the costume as "transphobic" and "disgusting" on Twitter, Spirit Halloween, a retailer that carries the costume, defended the getup.

"At Spirit Halloween, we create a wide range of costumes that are often based upon celebrities, public figures, heroes and superheroes," said Lisa Barr, senior director of marking at Spirit Halloween. "We feel that Caitlyn Jenner is all of the above and that she should be celebrated. The Caitlyn Jenner costume reflects just that."

A Florida elementary school teacher was charged for allegedly soliciting sex with a two-year-old and traveling to meet the toddler.
The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement that Xavier Donte Alexander, 28, was arrested on Thursday on felony counts of soliciting sex with a minor and traveling to meet up with a minor for sex.
Alexander teaches fourth grade at Grove Park Elementary School in Palm Beach Gardens and also advertises his services as a babysitter on multiple websites.
A judge ordered Alexander to be held on $1 million bond at a court hearing Friday. The Palm Beach County Public Defender’s Office is representing him in court.
If convicted of both counts, Alexander could face up to 20 years in prison.
The Palm Beach County School District said in a statement that it is “shocked and appalled” at the accusations and is cooperating with local law enforcement.
The district added that Alexander has been suspended pending the investigation’s outcome and that none of Alexander’s alleged crimes took place at the school.
Parents have also been notified, and families have been offered support services.

Woman explains that the racism black women experience makes white women’s diets not work for them

Apparently, there’s a show on Oprah Winfrey’s OWN network called “Black Women OWN the Conversation,” and from the small sample we’ve witnessed, it might be worse than “The View.” In a recent episode, Brittney Cooper explained why black women don’t lose as much weight on the same diets as white women, and the theory is that the racism that black women experience — the struggle — makes the diets not work for them. We’re not members of the party of science, so we’re not going to judge.

And this is just 30 seconds of one episode.

Health Canada issued an advisory and asked distributors to recall face masks that contain graphene or biographene, citing potential inhalation risks.

In an advisory released Friday, the agency said there is a “potential that wearers could inhale graphene particles from some masks, which may pose health risks.”

Health Canada said graphene is a novel nanomaterial — a material made of tiny particles — that is reported to have antiviral and antibacterial properties.

“Health Canada conducted a preliminary scientific assessment after being made aware that masks containing graphene have been sold with COVID-19 claims and used by adults and children in schools and daycares,” the advisory reads.

Masks containing graphene may have also been distributed in health care settings, the agency said.

Health Canada said its “preliminary assessment” found that graphene particles had “some potential to cause early lung toxicity in animals.”

“However, the potential for people to inhale graphene particles from face masks and the related health risks are not yet known, and may vary based on mask design,” the advisory reads. “The health risk to people of any age is not clear.”

Health Canada says it has requested data from the manufacturers to “assess the potential health risks related to their masks that contain graphene,” and has directed all known distributors, importers and manufacturers to stop selling the recalled products.

In an email to Global News, Health Canada said the department is currently reviewing data from two manufactures of graphene-coated face masks.

The agency said while it has received a report “indicating concerns” related to the use of masks coated in graphene, “no incidents involving serious harm have been reported to date.”

Health Canada said it will complete a “thorough scientific assessment” to establish the safety and effectiveness of face masks containing graphene.

Canada’s provinces and territories have also been notified and were advised to stop the distribution of graphene masks in their region.

“The department will continue to take appropriate action to stop the import and sale of graphene face masks,” Health Canada said.

Black Lives Matter Co-Founder Patrisse Khan-Cullors Lands Topanga Canyon Compound

A secluded mini-compound tucked into L.A.’s rustic and semi-remote Topanga Canyon was recently sold for a tad more than $1.4 million to a corporate entity that public records show is controlled by Patrisse Khan-Cullors, 37-year-old social justice visionary and co-founder of the galvanizing and, for some, controversial Black Lives Mattermovement.

Kahn-Cullors, a UCLA and USC graduate married about five years ago to social activist (and amateur boxer) Janaya Khan, co-founder of Black Lives Matter Toronto, created the #BlackLivesMatter hashtag in 2013 in response to George Zimmerman’s acquittal in the 2012 shooting of Trayvon Martin. Since then, the largely decentralized movement has been at the influential forefront on issues of police brutality and racially motivated violence against Black people, particularly in the wake of George Floyd’s killing last summer that sparked massive protests across the United States and around the globe. Kahn-Cullors’ published “When They Call You a Terrorist: A Black Lives Matter Memoir” in 2018.

A winding 15 minute drive from The Commons at Calabasas and a slightly longer and somewat less serpentine drive from Malibu’s Getty Villa, the pint-sized compound spans about one-quarter of an acre. The property’s not-quite 2,400 square feet is divided between the a three-bedroom and two-bath main house and a separate one-bed/one-bath apartment capable of hosting guests long term with a private entry and a living room with kitchenette.

Interior spaces feature bamboo floors and, in the spacious open-plan living room, dining area and kitchen, vaulted ceilings clad in knotty pine. A whitewashed raised hearth brick fireplace anchors the living room and numerous skylights baths the cavernous space with natural light.

The two guest bedrooms and hall bathroom are fairly ordinary, as is the simple and up-to-date though not especially high-end kitchen, while the primary bedroom offers a vaulted and wood-clad ceiling plus a small sitting area with glass sliders to the backyard.

An un-landscaped dust bowl with little charm besides the natural beauty of the trees and rugged mountains that envelope the property, the backyard offers little more than a covered patio for alfresco dining, a small deck and a tiny freestanding cabin best suited as a home office, meditation retreat or art studio.

The listing was managed by Stefanie Beckerat Coldwell Banker Realty and the buyer by Nina Kurtz at Compass.

She also got a TV deal in Hollywood recently.

CORBIN, Ky. (WKYT) - A 73-year-old man is accused of trying to take a small child from a Corbin home.
Little 3-year-old Frank was playing in his front yard Wednesday when his grandmother said the unthinkable almost happened. A man pulled up across the street, then walked over to their home. While Frank was on a trailer, the grandmother said the man tried to reach around the short fence to grab him.

She was just a few feet away on her front porch when she and her boyfriend got him to stop. But then she said he offered to buy her grandson for $1,000.

“He said, ‘I’ll give you a thousand dollars for this little boy,’” Frank’s grandmother Kristy Baker said.
Baker and her boyfriend got 73-year-old Ronnie Lou Helton to leave and he was arrested a short time later.
She got enough information from his car and police were able to track down and arrest Helton.
“I really do not want to imagine what he could have done if he got him,” Baker said.

This is not Helton’s first run-in with the law. In 2019, he was arrested in Clay County for solicitation for prostitution.
“My best advice to anyone out there is hold your kids close and keep an eye on them,” Baker said. “It only takes a split second to lose them.”
Baker said her grandson wasn’t hurt, but is shaken up by the ordeal. She said he keeps saying “the mean man tried to get him.”
Helton is in the Whitley County Jail, charged with kidnapping and promoting human trafficking.

Wasn't sure where to post this but Asians are murdered so little in the US they are classified as "other race" and of the 247 people killed in 2019 in other races (which includes American Indian or Alaska Native, Asian, and Native Hawaiian or Other Pacific Islander) 52 of them were killed by whites. So out of 13,927 homicides in that year the 52 are split among 5 races that were commited by whites. Also note that 138 out of 247 "other race" homicides are commited by other races.

GameStop, Foot Locker, & dozens more looted in Minnesota CHAOS following police shooting of Daunte Wright (VIDEOS)

Masked looters broke into and robbed dozens of Brooklyn Center, Minnesota stores, including GameStop, Foot Locker and Family Dollar, after protests over police shooting a black man spiralled into violence.

Journalists captured videos of Minnesotans breaking into and looting a number of popular brand stores on Sunday evening. GameStop, McDonalds, Foot Locker, Family Dollar and Sally Beauty Supply were all targeted, as police were seen protecting a Walmart.

One video shows a Kids Foot Locker store with smashed up windows and doors, with a phone store beside it also broken into and wrecked.

Another video shows a liquor store being looted, with bottles smashed all over the floor.

In one video posted by photojournalist Rebecca Brannon, a female looter could be heard shouting "I need this! I need this!" as she roamed around an auto store, while in a separate clip a woman in a car could be heard telling another person in a looted Family Dollar, "When I beep this horn, that means come out."

While cars could be seen queuing up as normal at a Taco Bell in one video, the McDonald's across the street didn't fare quite so well, having also been smashed up and looted.

The looting started after 20-year-old black Minnesotan Daunte Wright was shot and killed by police during a traffic stop on Sunday afternoon. The stop was reportedly made due to air fresheners that were hanging from Wright's rearview mirror – which is regarded by law as an illegal obstruction. Police claimed Wright then tried to drive away after they realized there was a warrant out for his arrest during the stop.

Brooklyn Center descended into chaos following the shooting, with protesters attacking and jumping on police cruisers as law enforcement used tear gas and rubber bullets to disperse riots.

Though, I’m not sure why

M&S begins legal action against Aldi over Colin the Caterpillar cake

Marks & Spencer has begun legal action against Aldi, arguing the supermarket's Cuthbert the Caterpillar cake infringes its Colin the Caterpillar trademark.
M&S claims that their similarity leads consumers to believe they are of the same standard and "rides on the coat-tails" of M&S's reputation.
It lodged an intellectual property claim with the High Court this week.
M&S wants Aldi to remove the product from sale and agree not to sell anything similar in the future.
The retailer has three trademarks relating to Colin, which it believes means Colin has acquired and retains an enhanced distinctive character and reputation.
The product was launched around 30 years ago. Colin's appearance has been substantially unchanged since around 2004, except for adaptations for events such as Halloween and Christmas, and related products such as Connie the Caterpillar.
A spokesman said: "Because we know the M&S brand is special to our customers and they expect only the very best from us, love and care goes into every M&S product on our shelves.
"So we want to protect Colin, Connie and our reputation for freshness, quality, innovation and value."
Colin is central to M&S's partnership with cancer charity Macmillan, and the retailer has created a Colin product for the annual World's Biggest Coffee Morning fundraising event.
The cake is a sponge with milk chocolate and buttercream, topped with chocolate sweets and a smiling white chocolate face.
M&S was the first retailer to sell a caterpillar cake, but many supermarkets have since created their own similar products.
Other cakes include Waitrose's Cecil, Sainsbury's Wiggles, Tesco's Curly, and Asda's Clyde the Caterpillar.
