Anon is 100% correct, this is indeed the ideology behind those buildings.

Even so, I don't immediately hate it on principle, there are additional factors contributing to the architects needing to get shot a covid booster:
  • Those are existing historical buildings that should be public property or at least heritage assets. Architects and politicians deliberately mutilate them under the "guise" of *tee hee* restoration. (Does it even count as "guise" when they're openly reveling in impunity?)
  • Public funds are being stolen for this.
  • The buildings only seem, uh, fascinating as 3d models. The real buildings, up close, look like junk. The materials cannot stand the passage of time, rain, dust, rust, and start looking gross pretty much immediately. Meanwhile, even ruined historical buildings are decorative.

I'll die on the hill that carpeted bathrooms can be based. One of my grandparent's spare bathrooms was carpeted. I'm pretty sure it was only used when my family came to visit. Taking a shit with your feet on plush carpet is a feeling I can't properly describe. It's amazing. And before you say "bath mat", it's not the same. I don't know why, but it's just not. I can't explain the science behind it. I know it sounds crazy, but if you've experienced it you know what I'm talking about. If I owned a big house with multiple bathrooms I would carpet one in a second and designate it for shitting only.
