Is this site better on TOR?

Absolutely, for us and them. It keeps chimpy retards out of threads (though I do sometimes miss seeing thread spergery and knowing that even kiwifarms posting cannot turn off tardation) and It completely cut off the section of users who couldn't be fucked to spend the ten minutes learning how to use tor and onion sites. Keeping them safer from doxxing themselves, since I assume their opsec was dogwater.

It's a retard filter. Phoneposters, dummies who can't install a program or have their attention spans zapped by social media have all tuned out.

It is important to have an easy clearnet interface, though, because you need new blood. The 90% lurker audience needs to eventually convert to the 10% contributor or it turns into SA.

What's funny on that front is that over on Mumsnet feminism boards, there's a load of people figuring out how to use Tor for the first time and get on the farms. I don't think KF is better on Tor but I think Tor is better for having KF only available on it because it's demystifying the technology and the "dark web" for a bunch of fairly normal people. Which is a good thing.

My own personal beef with it is that both Brave and the Tor Browser seem to insist that they will operate only in private mode with Tor. Meaning always having to log in each time, tabs not being preserved if closed unexpectedly, etc. I looked it up and it is apparently by design. But I'm not using Tor to hide my browsing habits from someone who will get access to my computer. I just want the routing so I can access this site. Does anybody know a way around this in the browser? Or should I be setting up Tor on my desktop and some kind of proxy to it from the browser? Or what? Annoying is what it is.

It's to protect you from being deanonymized, yeah. You could set up a Tor proxy and run your normal browser through it (identifying you) but I don't recommend it. Even if you're not doing anything interesting, using Tor does make you interesting.

How does it de-anonymize me if my browser remembers the KF login details (can't store them because by the time I'm at the login page I'm already in Private mode), or retains a session cookie?

It took me 15 minutes to view this thread on Brave's Tor on PC. I can barely load the site in mobile, which means my primary source of entertainment during my lunch break's gone.

Kiwiflare had a fit during this post, sorry if it's fucked.

The theory goes, if the browser can offer info on your browsing habits it will identify you. If it can't, it doesn't. So it always "starts fresh" to make sure that info doesn't fall into the wrong hands. The KF login cookie shouldn't be able to be read by anyone but KF, but that doesn't take into account bad actors, persistent trackers, site compromises... etc. So it doesn't take the risk.

Tor Browser in particular is autistic enough to throw warnings when add-ons are installed because it makes your browser fingerprint less unique, and also starts up with the same viewport size as well to try to make you look like everyone else.

I know that doesn't really answer the question but I don't have specifics to offer. Most of that is in Google's hands. The EFF has a good rundown on the subject if you are interested. https://coveryourtracks.eff.org/learn

Edit: Just remembered. Unique fonts that you have installed can give you away, another thing Tor Browser tries to obscure.

There's a lot less niggers, I'll say that.
Fewer, nigger.

No. For me, Tor is painfully slow. I can barely load avatars, let alone pics and videos. I've tried a million different circuits, and they're all equally slow. I'm jealous of the people who have decent speeds.
Lack of troon-DoS and fewer niggers makes the site seem way more responsive to me. YMMV.

It's a nice reprieve. Null never intends it to be permanent. I think Null should do it more. What do I know? I'm a newfag, according to join date. 🤷

Tor literally tells you using it's service to log-into user accounts is bad Opsec. I don't know what you expect. You're assuming you're smaerter than the people who don't want to use Tor, but it's just as likely they don't trust Tor exit nodes.

I was using TOR here before it was cool, where is my medal?

But seriously, you would think that now with the TOR browser on the official app stores of every platform out there even the dumbest normie could access this site but they are too lazy/dumb to even download a new app, imagine if this was back in the late 2000's when you had to setup TOR separately and configure everything.

Not all Tor sessions are equal. If you're having slow speeds, close and reopen the Tor connection as a bad connection won't even load the clearnet error page, but a good one will run almost like you're not using Tor. With Brave it only takes a couple seconds to open a Tor connection so you can cycle through them pretty quick.

Tor off of Braves mobile browser has load times comparable to clearnet for me, tbh I’ll likely continue using Tor over Brave to browse the farms even when we go back up on clearnet.

I'd support that, maybe even permanently. It's nice to get a break from the Eternal Summer.
First off, it's Eternal September
you goddamn fucking n00b slightly mistaken internet commenter. 🤣

The only downside is that on Tor with Android, you can't seem to post images on here since they don't recognize the media files correctly.

I cant use reactions properly on Tor mobile, which is the big one for me.
Some images/ videos don't work correctly for me, and the only post reactions I can do are normal "likes". But as I said in another post, if people get that worked up over fake internet points, they can go back to pReddit. The image thing might be a security setting or the nature of the native Tor browser. Truthfully I haven't seen much difference in videos other than YouTube embedded videos aren't recognized or require a catptcha. But I can get the URL and watch on the clearnet if it's something that I might find interesting to look at.

As a relative newfag to KF (I lurked for a good while before registering after the last opening) but not to Tor or early web 1.0 era stuff, modern people really do seem spoiled when it comes to ease of access with internet and technology. People might marvel at later Millenials/Zoomers when it comes to our seeming comfort with technology, but I guaran-fucking-tee that most would be lost if they had to manually boot to windows from DOS after firing up their 486 PC, or pull their broccoli hair out in frustration if they had to contend with 56K or god-forbid 28K dial-up modem speeds. Early Tor on a PC was almost unbearable at times, modern Tor is equivalent to PC based browsing a decade ago, IMO.

Truthfully I'm in the camp of KF on clearnet, if only to keep the site alive and people aware of degenerate faggots like Keffals or the Fong. But I also understand that Null goes above and beyond and couldn't/wouldn't want to deal with all the bullshit that he has for years because troons and lolcows don't like being called out on their own actions. I'm sure that being Tor only has been a relief for him as far as that stuff goes. Also helping to raise the awareness of Tor is a good thing, IMO. While the lazy and casual users will probably stay away, the ones who put in that little bit of effort to overcome even the lowest barrier of entry should hopefully weed out most of the undesirables.

i do say this site is better on TOR because it's much more faster and less buggy compared to the clearnet version of this site. god, i remember when i can't load or open images and videos here. it's so annoying.

try using tor browser on your PC instead when browsing the farms. it's far more faster than brave and it feels so slick.

Nah. Whether you agree with people or not, forums are better with variety. I'm noticing a lot of ant-circling and echo-chambering and a lot of the people here are getting a sort of cabin fever from the tight and uninspiring confines of the website at 1/4th contribution. Some people enjoy it, but typically for the reasons of their opinions not being challenged as much as usual it seems.

Is it just me, or has the addition of an extremely basic barrier to entry reduced the number of retards (albeit it hasn't got rid of all of them) who were shitting up the site in various ways?
I like "Easy to track usernames hall of shame" so keeping retards behind TOR gate doesn't make me very happy but I use TOR by default even when we're on clearnet so I appreciate Null making it more stable and faster.

I'm absolutely paralyzed by the concept of people disagreeing with me, so to have less people around to disagree with me infinitely makes the site that much better and some people should really stop malding over that being the case. Silly children.

No.

Old fags are snobby, smell bad, and need newbie shits to calm them down.

(Oldfags have pissed me off more than newfags, who vanish quickly compared to the shitty oldfags, imo)
