Unironically this is looking more likely to be a dangerous then most past outbreaks.
This virus is spreading much faster then SARS but with a much lower lethality, if you get infected and you’re not sick, elderly, an infant, or have a weakened or broken immune system it’s probably not game over yet.
The potential ability to infect another host before symptoms show is dangerous and certainly unusual for a Corona virus, (although it having this ability is still unconfirmed by the medical community)
China is very likely to be lying about numbers not to mention cases they don’t know about, if they said 3000 infected and 80 dead is probably closer to anywhere from 4000-10,000 infected (that they are aware of) and the number of deaths could be anyone’s guess.
We’ll know alot more about this virus in a week or two and if it’s a nothingburger, from some dude eating a bat, or a bio weapon, but 3000 infected after an estimated one month after patient zero and a rate of doubling the number of infected roughly every week is scary, the saving grace (assuming China’s numbers are somewhat close) is a very low lethality compared to scary outbreaks of the past.
