That fight was an embarrassment.
Any wigger who says Jake "beat" Mike is retarded. He won boxing, the game. If I win against you in a game of checkers, I didn't beat you. You simply lost a game. He didn't do shit in terms of boxing, the sport. He couldn't stand and bang with a man over twice his age because he was scared of an uppercut Mike hasn't been able to throw since the Bush admin. He felt content dancing around with an 8" reach advantage to gas out someone who struggles to walk unassisted most of the time, going for big ol' hugs to reset whenever he was worried grandpa was catching up to pretend to threaten him (because he's geting $12M post-taxes to never throw anything harder than a jab). Hope that was worth breaking his "All knockouts" streak.
And fuck Mike Tyson. I'm disgusted. Mike rebuilt his entire brand and wealth by himself after losing it all from completely floundering at the end of his pro career after Don King turned him into a circus ape. He had a great chance to let this be his last match where he could show off more of that athleticism he was marketing in all of his training videos, but instead he still let the little money-grabbing hedonist in him that Don King groomed win out and he decided to just cap things off as a circus monkey yet again. I'm not saying Mike would've smeared Jake, but if anyone believes Mike still can't throw a straight that'd leave Jake Paul stumbling for the rest of the match, you simply do not know shit about boxing. He deliberately tomato canned and I hope he knows his younger self would spit on him for it.
That being said, it's not the death knell of boxing. Heavyweight boxing's been dead for like 20 years. All the excitement is in the lower weight classes like we saw with Taylor and Serrano in the women's lightweights and Barrios and Ramos in the welterweights. The issue is it's not as casually digestible because you don't see the same knockout power you see in the in the light-heavyweights upwards, so it's just not appealing to the layman. It says a lot when two women scrambling at each other like it's a PRIDE FC pre-broadcast undercard is the most popular match-up.
Now for Paul to dig up Earnie Shavers and claim he beat the guy who scared Ali.
