Jenna Marbles said something super recently as well. I think once enough high profile youtubers got involved it was only a matter of time.

Im genuinely annoyed that despite genuine backlash and blatant community violation, it took 10 days to respond to Logan's shit, reluctantly too. Losing a preferred listing and potential red series are just slaps on the wrists, but at least something.

Is this the part of the cycle where someone proposes an alternative to YouTube that goes absolutely nowhere because creators wouldn't be paid for their work?

It wouldve worked back in 2006, but YouTube is so powerful now that no other platform has the capability to reach so many people and audiences. And unfortunately content creators dont want to start over and potentially lose new audiences. Hank Green had a video on the subject

YouTube may always have lost profit, but its the only site at this point that can make net profit. Google is a powerful ally.

Theres no denying that the site is able to be replaced and it definitely isnt immortal though. Ill be keeping a close eye to see how events play out with YouTube and the Paul family

It happens occasionally with Reddit alternatives whenever there's some controversy with the ownership over there. A couple hundred people jump ship to some Reddit clone, and then it dies off because there aren't enough people posting and everyone already forgot why they were mad at Reddit in the first place. There have been like, 12 of these.

That migration would theoretically be way easier because there aren't people making a living from Reddit shitposts who would need a monetisation system to make the switch, but it kinda demonstrates how these "new alternative" versions of massive sites always fall flat.

OK, so there's this conspiracy theory floating around involving these twats and Shane Dawson, of all fucking people. Recently, this channel called PopBlast posted a video accusing Shane Dawson of being a pedo. They later took the video down and replaced it with a few that imply that Logan Paul's manager paid them to make the video in order to take some of the heat off of LP. The channel has been terminated, but I'm seeing quite a few people discussing it.

The only reason I even considered posting this here is because, after seeing the kind of people his parents and close friends are, I could actually see this happening. The Pauls have shown that they don't give a flying fuck about other people being hurt by their actions. Not saying I believe it 100%, but I wouldn't be surprised if it turned out to be true.

Apparently this whole Shane Dawson pedo thing has been caused by this big smear campaign by Logan Paul's staff.

I don't know if this is true or not and keep in mind that its on ebaums (sorry):

I don't know if this is confirmed or true.

I don't buy it. Seems way more likely that someone took something he said out of context.

I deleted a post expressing my doubts because the reasons I cited were a little falty.

For one, PopBlast accused Logan's manager for bribing him to create a smear campaign, but one of Paul's managers is a network representative for multiple channels including H3H3 and Phillip DeFranco.

Id believe it more if one of the staff members posed as a manager to shovel money.

I said this once, but the existence of Popblast would make for a fun mystery thread

There isnt any new content (yet), but I thought I spend some time to talk about this.

One of Logan Paul's bigger hits is a song called No Handlebars, a song that objectifies women as sexual bicycles. Heres a link to it if you want to watch.

Turns out he stole most of the lyrics and music off the song, "handlebars", a song from the music duo Flobots that had nothing to do with riding women

Finding out about it a month ago, the Flobots quickly made a disstrack that same week against Logan Paul, a very catchy one too

I'll still keep an eye out

Found a really insightful Reddit comment about our need to educate children on social media influencers

We should make a better effort to pay attention

What points does he try to make? Sorry, but I can barely stand MatPat's voice for five minutes, let alone nearly twelve.

He mostly talks about how the Youtube algorithm functions, how it backfired spectacularly in this situation, and how as a result it will only encourage people to create controversy in order to grow their channels because even though a controversial video may get demonetized the rest of the channel will still get a huge boost in traffic.

Say what you will about his videos but he seems pretty informed about the inner workings of social media.

Oh, absolutely. Especially since I've seen other youtubers that focus on that kind of content talking about it.

The newest ScareTheater video also talks about it.

Considering he's paid to pay attention to this kind of thing, I wouldn't doubt it. Thanks for the content breakdown.

That police talk Logan had a week or two ago might be more serious than I thought.

Meanwhile Jake is doing fine. Still cringy af though.

You find if one is getting shit on, the other quietly avoids controversy.

This paragraph... I love it. It made me laugh.

"Japanese police officers who have seen his videos taken in Japan found at least four crimes that he could be charged with: destruction of property, public indecency, interference with business operations, and numerous traffic violations. “Plus he’s left video evidence, on his own YouTube channel,” said a former police detective. “We haven’t seen such a dumb criminal since those idiots uploaded videos of themselves bullying a convenience store clerk and stealing cigarettes [in 2014].”
