Ah, so it got caught in the "scalpers buying off scalpers" hyperloop like everything else online these past 2 years? explains a bit lmao.
yea, i don't really follow this topic or person but i watched a bit from the linked canadian dude who investigated the box when it first came up for sale and from what i gathered from his following of the topic it passed through several known to be shady scalpers and quickly went from 100k >> 3.5mil.

My work slack has done nothing but laugh about this for like twelve hours while also having conversations I don't understand about Pokemon card prices. I had no idea they were 'worth' this much (hypothetically, anyway-- is anyone actually buying them at these sorts of prices??)
There are very few who do and they tend to ensure in meticulous detail they are getting quality shit before anything happens. What made this so special was the item was verified by idiots to ‘probably be genuine’ when all you could tell was that it was a cardboard box of something and then amateur youtube poke autists who actually buy this shit started posting videos saying ‘lol noooo there are a million reasons not to believe this shit’ but I guess rhe authenticating company banked on their thirty year reputation and the chance no one would find out.

I could see Logan Paul taking a risk on this if he knew who he was buying from would refund the money afterwards. But as that dude shows the people he bought it from despite being ‘known sellers with good rep’ are absolutely lawyering up and not refunding his 2.7 million. And these guys Jameel Meelypops Mohammod and Jacob Gagye actively deal in this shit so their reputation is being tarnished just like the company’s. Doubt anyone would trust them now.

Also Logan’s advisor called CollectiblesGuru has shown a known pattern of buying fake shit and not knowing what he is talking about so I can’t see Logan trusting him unless he is running a ruse. The best advice is just do this crap for a hobby and get a retirement fund this whole thing is basically believing diamonds are worth millions because debeers says so.

I can't stand this douche or his brother, but he can hold his own. He'll never beat a legit fighter, but more power to him if he can get money just for being an idiot.

Is it really a surprise that he got scammed? I bet he's never even played the TCG. Idiot + Noob = this outcome.

Pokebeach’s official Twitter account has responded to the slew of allegations of this whole fiasco being staged, they’re basically saying that it’s legit with the cause being a combination of retards not knowing the Pokemon scene at all (Logan Paul) and scammers taking advantage of fresh meat (the people that sold the fake case to him).

Often the boxes contain toppers or special items that are included if you buy the complete box. While I have delved heavily into TCG, and have bought boxes, the mentality is (if you buy it firsthand like from a CCG store or somewhere reputable and not Ebay) you may potentially have X cards and copies of those X cards in your box that may net you hundred if not thousands of dollars if you open the box. Thus, for a $1000 (for example) you may own $2000 or more valued cards if you open it. Thats the speculative aspect working here.
Ironically enough box toppers, as far as Pokemon is concerned, weren't a thing in Base Set (they were introduced in Legendary Collection in the form of jumbo reverse-holo prints of Charizard, Mewtwo, Dark Blastoise, and Dark Raichu) and haven't been a thing since EX Holon Phantoms.

There's also the issue of Logan not paying attention to what the Pokemon community had to say about the case until he was forced to address it, something that only further hints that he's really only into this for the money.

All in all I couldn’t have said it better myself. The TCG scene is best left to casual hobbyists and people who actually want to PLAY the game, investorfags need to be shown the door or have a few buckshot sandwiches served to them in Minecraft.
Detective Tacco is on the Case.
So this is the "Tacco king" you thought I was talking shit about, lets see what he-

You know what? I'll take that vitriol/bravado as a compliment.

I’ve never seen a Pokémon card and have no idea why anyone would pay insane amounts of money for them, and I don’t know or care who Logan paul is.

That said, I did just sit through 2 hours of a calm, patient Canadian nerd explaining all about barcodes, thermal printers and sticky tape, and that dude was right all along.
That was a fun series to watch, I'm glad @Salubrious linked it.
apparently the bald guy in the video who sold him the box gave him back his 3.5mil but is trying to get his money back still which is like 2.5+mil since the box went through a chain of up-sellers.

so brogan paul didn't lose a penny, and is likely going to make a lot of money off his trending advertisement for his new sports drink of a video, he's a douche but he's smart and this was likely all planned for a guerrilla marketing campaign
Logan Paul had the right idea taping the opening with the verifier right there. Imagine if the guy that bought it for $2.5 mil opened it? He wouldn't have had the sway to get shit, and that Jason guy is definitely sus as fuck.

How can you not know Rudy? he is very funny and he knows his shit. i would say he is the prime expert for sealed magic and the biggest owner of sealed pokeman.

Not only is someone willing to spend $3.5 million on Pokemon cards, there are people who have followed this box from its first appearance, got into the spergy details of how these things are authenticated, tracked who bought what when, decoded the barcodes for the products, etc.

And we still have cancer.
we have cancer because anytime anyone comes close to a cure for it they magically vanish and you never hear about them again

Press X to Doubt. Everything this man and his brother has done is to stay relevant, rake in views and money and they usually go with outrage/shock content that is usually guaranteed to result in the desired outcome for them. The man filmed himself buying a Gameboy just to go about slamming it on the ground til it was destroyed, probably made that stupid table because he knew it would piss people off but bring in the quote tweets, retweets, ect. and this is just another stab. I can almost guarantee he opened the boxes and put the G.I. cards in and when people find out and then it'll be another wave of hate filled comments, tweets, ect that just rakes in more money for this greedy bastard.

The Paul family thrives off of outrage and their own arrogance, its the only reason they are even famous to begin with.
