I was more into the G.I. Joe action figures than the cards. Didn't they start including Upper Deck or Topps cards with figures at one point?

Remember trading cards from movies like T2? Blockbuster carried them among others. They had so many different series it was insane. Going into my local comic shops, the walls were littered with them. My mom tried getting into the more fantasy-based stuff like Beyond Bizarre. I only got into Pokemon cards through Nintendo Gameboy red/blue/yellow games otherwise I couldn't have cared less about them. The show was so stupid, too.
That was Toy Biz and their X-Men line of five inch toys

That said, the only other GI Joe cards Hasbro made were cards that featured stills from live action commercials they shot for the last two-three waves of GI Joe toys that were included in select issues of the GI Joe comic during the last couple of years of the books publication. IIRC they were never included in the toys.

I'm confused. This was clearly staged, do some people actually believe that an edited and posted YouTube video is an accurate reflection of reality?
It would be suicide for a card exchange verification company to fake verify a box that was later found out to be fake. They certainly wouldn’t do it for Logan Paul.

The worst part about is, within a single, callous gesture, Logan ruined the professional reputation of a Sports Memorabilia Appraisal Company. Three Decades of experience flushed down the toilet, because a Disney Channel Retard came to them with trading cards out of their element.

The way those old guys react, they are dumbstruck and should have realized these toys were out of their element.
They ruined their own reputation by authenticating something they admitted they didn't know much about. They should have refused it from the get go.

Oh man so one of the dudes that sold the case to Shyne who sold it to Logan first threatened to sue this youtuber rattle pokemon then offered to bribe him $500k to take down his videos these guys Jacob Gabay and Jameel MeelyPops sound like idiots they literally ruined their reputations as sellers with this shit wow. But Logan Paul has been refunded these two refuse to refund Shyne who only bought this case because some dumb sports card verifier couldn’t do basic research. Autism abounds.

Oh no, the proud legacy of a fucking baseball card authenticator. How will the state of Illinois go on without this proud industry?

Logan got scammed out of $3.5 million on some rare Pokémon cards:

The box was gutted and refilled with GI Joe cards. A company that specializes in reviewing vintage trading cards, the Baseball Card Exchange (BBCE), was initially brought in some time ago to verify if the boxes seemed legit, which they believed to be the case at the time. Though after further speculation, they opened the box to reveal the contents being a total sham.

Unsurprisingly, the BBCE's reputation took a massive hit from this massive blunder. It's a really bad look to say the least, considering their business was all about verifying expensive cards for collectors to purchase.
They tried to address the fallout on Twitter, though it hasn't gone over very well, considering various Pokémon nerds debunked the box's authenticity from their own rooms while an "expert" miserably failed to verify it in-person:

Assuming this was the same guy, Logan's "card dealer" has been called out in the past for being super sketchy with some of the deals he's made in the past. This was not the first time this guy has sold a tampered box to some interested collectors.

I recommend reading through this short thread from last year for some additional context:
dear god, who would even pay real money for a bunch of old pokemon cards?
i mean yeah, i know that old baseball/pokemon cards are of high value for collectors and thats fine and good, but wasting 3.5 million dollars for some sketchy pokemon cards is extremely retarded, in my humble opinion.

then again, logan paul isnt the smartest person out there...

Did he at least get some nice G.I. Joe cards out of this? Like, were there at least some that had some cool battle scenes or had rather nice artistic depictions of Scarlett or the Baroness?

Jake knew this would get him tons of attention/views either way it went and targeted the much valued millennial adults who have money to spend on stupid shit.

The idea of not being able to open the box and it’s a “trust me” situation is hilarious. This box has $2 mil in gold inside, but you can’t look at it, if you even try to look at it the gold is suddenly only worth $1.5 million.

It Would have been funnier if rich Pokemon collectors kept trading the sealed box for years, wetting themselves over what was actually just a bunch of old GI Joe cards.

It happens. Toy grading and comic grading sites have had similar issues in the past.

Not a good sign that the BCE is halting all reviews on just Pokemon and Yugioh cards. This means that more expensive boxes, like Magic the Gathering, can still be reviewed and faked. All collectable boxes should be halted. Also, I know this wouldn't have gotten out there if it wasn't for someone like Logan.

What is really unfortunate is it essentially ruined a beloved card game. The Pokemon TCG is actually fun and good in winnings, Yu-Gi-Oh has no prizing structure Pokemon does. What Logan did though crippled how you can actually play the game.

So currently Pokemon rotates unlike Yu Gi Oh (MTG is a dead game, a lot of locals do not fire because getting players is hard.) Pokemon has 8 sets currently and all of them are impossible to buy especially on the EU side. It's made it harder to buy singles too since everyone puts them up for auction. The Pokemon TCG too has a very cheap entry to play whilst YGO and MTG do not and he ruined that for players.

This fan breaks it up well and the autism that descended upon this relatively peaceful community. The video starts at 10:00 for those interested. The Pokemon TCG is very different from the video game section the most just enjoy the card game but it affected their enjoyment.

Well, now that it's relevant for me to ask with the uptick in thread activity; why the fuck does that Mr. Beast guy collaborate with Logan "film and slap a dead Jap" Paul? I mean, I know the answer already, but it's still odd, even if the answer is dumb kids and money.

The reason I can't bring myself to buy Pokemon cards is that the cards have looked like garbage ever since they stopped using traditional manga style artwork and moved to garbage looking CGI artwork
IIRC it basically started as a cost-cutting measure due to the CG artist being an in-house artist but thankfully that seems to be somewhat addressed with the introduction of some ultra-rares and the newer secret-rare alternate art cards featuring 2D artwork.

Thanks for bringing this up, I was thinking about posting how Logan Paul fucked up the competitive side of the Pokemon TCG but getting into the nitty-gritty of the competitive Pokemon TCG scene is extremely 🧩.

Wait, really? I stopped playing years back when it became clear that idpol had thoroughly infected it, but I was of the understanding that it was doing very well right now.
Depends what you consider dead. MTG brings in over half a billion for Hasbro each year and bigger events like Prereleases are always full at places near me. They definitely are shifting their priorities through MTG Arena and premium products. Another big issue is COVID, some cardshop owners are really pozzed (common if you live near a city) and they close shop at the slightest uptick in cases in the area.

The company ruined its own reputation by vouching for shit they didn't know about. Given their shitty reviews online they didn't even need the help.

These people don’t live in a real world where actions have real consequences most youtube faggots have to do some really awful shit to get canceled because for every sign of degenerate behavior there will be a group of fanboys to make a hug box for them and basically validate their degeneracy via the youtuber. The internet has revealed like 50% of people are degenerate and hell for all you know I probably am too. Don’t bet on any new people in your life every being normal verify that shit through German interrogation if you have to.

Their reputation might have sucked before but they just got exposed as illegitimate to millions who were following Logan Paul’s Pokeautism they are basically gonna have to rebrand or just stop their business because no one is trusting them after this. Which is good because their verification process seemed to be ‘yep that box has been sealed for a while looks real to me!’ and slapping their sticker on it.
