James Cameron's Avatar to get four sequels - The message will still be the same

Poe's Law has got me again :stress:

The funny thing is I remember people bitching when the first film got released about how all the Na'vi were portrayed by black actors and how racist it was to portray their character designs the way they did.

No matter what these people will always find something to bitch about.

This is why journalism is dying.

That title, yeesh! Avatar is the film, not the aliens, you idiot journaLists. And the Na'vi are based on every primitive culture on the planet, the same way the Wakandans are just a blend of every African tribe (from multiple time periods, often actively antagonistic to each other) in one dumb soup. If the Na'vi have a written language, it'll be 90% Cherokee symbols.

People mentioned hypocrisy with the way the film was promoted, but the entire plot is hypocritical. "People seeking immortality by abusing others is bad, also watch my several hours of delusions of living as a young furry husbando with my skinwalker family rather my decrepit old body. Which all took thousands of hours of unpaid CGI work and burned more oil than New York does in a day".

It's funny how journoscum cannot simply admit Avatar 2 underperformed, they have to add, how its numbers are strong and the return of Covid in China is to be blamed. Somehow, they fail to take into account the footie ball cup, which dominated normie minds past weekend, especially in Europe. Now their only hope is the movie having massive (blue) legs, but I don't see that happening. I remember the rabid enthusiasm the first movie enjoyed, which is completely absent now. Next weekend is Christmas and I doubt normies want to waste time on a 3 hour slog, when that time is better spent on preparing/attending family get togethers. The weekend after, is the new year, again, normies will be a hell of a lot more interested in partying.

The only thing Avatar 2 has going for it is that there's no competition until January. And in January the only notable movie is M3GAN. February/March is when the tent poles start coming out.

Genuinely, don’t count out Puss in Boots. A movie half the length from a known franchise that is legitimately getting universally higher scores than Avatar 2 could put a dent in the family showings that A2 is banking on.

Plane, Distant, Missing and that one House Party reboot (which was originally set to be on HBO Max before the new Warner CEO shifted to a theatrical release instead) are also set to be in theatres in January.

Another Fuck You, It's January month.

Remember: in an alternate universe we would have had an Alien film directed by Ridley Scott and written by Cameron that would have focused on the origin of the Alien. But noooooooo. AvP had to happen instead. :(
It wouldn't have been better than Prometheus. Explaining the origin of the xenomorph ruins it by killing the mystique.

Prometheus not only killed the mystery of the Xenomorph, it killed the mystery of the Space Jockey. Prometheus should just have been about the creation and rise of Weyland-Yutani, it's android programs, and it's obsessive drive towards profits, with the last scenes of the movie where we see it's scientists and mercenaries discovering the Derelict.

No black goo, no giant albino humans. Just a story of the Company but still tying into the larger Aliens universe.

Instead we got fart huffing about androids and their creators, pretentious people acting as if the movie is somehow 'deep,' and Ridley Scott proving he lost touch with what Alien(s) really was about.

I wonder what's going on in the mind of James Cameron right now? Does he care for his public image?
His public image was ruined years ago when everyone who ever worked with him claimed he was an asshole.

At this point he has nothing left to lose or work towards so he might as well just be honest.

What the hell happened to the James Cameron that gave us True Lies (his last good movie)?

That had Arnie blowing away Arab terrorists and Jamie Lee Curtis dancing in lingerie, how did that guy wind up the walking stereotype of a wussy "save the trees" type?

The fact that Avatar 2 revolves around a "save the whales" plotline as if the first movie wasn't full of enough hoary old environmentalist tropes, give me a break.

True Lies is a remake of a French film called The Total. So Cameron simply saw the film and remade it in English with a more American themed protagonist and villains. Almost nothing in True Lies was actually written or created by Cameron. So expecting a similar style story or movie out of him is not realistic. Unless the French make The Total 2 you will never see True Lies 2.

Cameron was always a hardcore environmentalist whacko hypocrite. Who would lecture people on set about the dangers of dairy products and driving SUVs. But meanwhile is vacationing on megayachts and pumping out endless plastic Terminator and Avatar 'made in china' merchandise by 11-year-old slave workers. His oil consumption with research vessels over Titanic wreckage sites probably eclipses what an entire small American town will burn through in a lifetime.

This is not even 'save the whales'. This is 'save the negroid featured blue savage aliens'. Save the cartoon furry objects of degenerate thoughts.

I would laugh my fucking ass off if Puss in Boots knocked it off the #1 slot.
