The new irategamer episode includes James' plugging in Rex Viper near the end of the video
James has the absolute worst taste in the world when it comes to collaborators. First it's Pat, then the Screen Wave crew and now the possibility of Chris Bores in an AVGN. WTF? Jontron is right over yonder and idolized James and his work. I'm sure Jon would do a cameo in a heartbeat and there ya' go, instant click bait and you get someone that people would like to see in an AVGN. But noooo. Not James. Even though Jon appeared in a couple of non-AVGN videos for the channel because he's a legit fan of James. Noooooo. Better use the likes of Pat and now Chris Bores.

It feels like he thinks that people still care about the Irategamer vs AVGN debate from 15 years ago so collaborating with him would get people talking.......No, no they won't. Irategamer isn't relevant and only old farts know about him. Scott the Woz is arguably the most popular video game reviewer on youtube right now, he appeared in a James & Mike episode and will also be at TooManyGames. So that would be a better collab than Chris fucking Bores

As for Pat, I'm certain that the only reason he was able to collab with James was because he owns those 2 rare NES cartridges and James wanted to include them in his video.....which is Pat's legacy.....owning a rare cartridge, something which he's leveraged to appear on Pawn Stars and AVGN

Oh fuck, I just realized that he's still thinking in terms of the Sega VS Nintendo feud from back in the day. He's probably still blown away that Sanic appears on Nintendo consoles now. I mean, I grew up in that era too and watched it play out. Seeing Sanic games first appear on Gamecube and shit was kind of shocking. At least at first but that was back in fucking 2003. We live in CURRENT YEAR so it's not that astonishing anymore.

He may as well drag that snaggle toothed meth baby Silent Rob out of whatever hole he's nesting in if he's having Internet nobodies from yesteryear on. Assuming Asalieri isn't dead he and Archfiend can return for a whingefest too.

I'm sure that was part of it but James seems to be a genuine friend of Pat (for some reason). He brought him up in that video where he and Mike played games with Jontron where he was very jovial about Pat trolling him in Bomberman. Plus James appeared in a video for Pat and it's the 2nd highest viewed video on Pat's channel after the one where he paid the escort/porn slut to appear in his video.

I think it just somehow ties into James' autism.

So he finally reviewed a Wii game. Partially fulfilling the prophecy of the Xmas video where he reviews Far Cry on Wii.

Reminder: the Xmas episode came out 15 years ago in 2007...

I thought this video was going to be a subverting of expectations kind of thing. Like it was going to open with a review of this and then it would divulge into something bizarre. Kind of like the Mr. Plinkett review of Cop Dog. I hate to say it, but this is not a very good episode. The little tribute to his old cat Boo (who was in the Jaguar episode and was on the Rolling Rocker) got me in the feels because I get that. Why wait two years to make a tribute to your old cat? I don't know.

It say's help by Kieran.

Overall: 4/10 episode. At least it's not terrible cringe but it's just tired and boring.
James was very optimistic about the future of his hairline back in the day.

Part of me wonders if James collabing with Irate actually has no more deeper meaning than just.... the AVGN vs Irate thing represents AVGN's own glory days in a way.

I actually get a similar vibe from Mario and Sonic teaming up. Two guys who used to be rivals, but what was once a bitter rivalry has now become a nostalgic highlight they look back fondly of (and perhaps try to use to garner attention from anyone who was around to remember those days).

In other words, it isn't so much that James is blind to Irate's irrelevance.... but Bores is someone he, personally, has a connection to, while Scott the Woz is just a name on the internet to him. It's not about chasing clout.

HEY I'M NERD
I'M NOT SO NEEEEERD
AAAAAND WEEEEEEE'RE THE GAME NERDS
You know? That might be a good cutaway gag.

(The Nerd holds up a multiplayer only game)

"Well, I guess I have no choice."

(Long awkward pause as we silently cut to the skeleton of Kyle Justin from behind the couch, a dead Nurdy Turd and Shit Pickle being flushed down a toilet)

"I need a new partner! Yeah! A partner who I can offload all of these shitty games to! But who would be gullible enough to do that?"

(TV blinks alive with Jon wearing glasses and doing a mincing Jewish impression)

If we’re suggesting internet nobodies of yesteryear for James to collaborate with, someone go find Armake21 roust him out of his grave and there ya go. Still better than Pat the NES Fag or the Slobs
Armake [or Marcus] was such a fucking drama queen sometimes but I'll be damned if he wasn't funny back in the day. Ever since it's been a continual cycle of dead, dormant YouTube channels every time he starts up again.
