Every year has quite a few good movies while most shit is garbage and disposable.

It's like when I read whiney gamers talk about how games haven't been good since 198X/199X/200X when in reality most video games suck ass and you only remember the handful of titles you liked.
There really has been fuck all for games this year, though. And last year. Corona-chan really wrecked a lot of studios.

Evil Dead was ok, if in a tired genre.

James only really cared about the first Monster Madness. He planned to do just that one. Mike liked it so much, he asked James to continue it the next year, but James told him " No, I don't have the time." So Mike offered to do the bulk of Monster Madness and has done so until they just started recorded the two of them talking about a film for 10 minutes.
So the Monster Madness month that was dedicated entirely to Godzilla was all done by Mike only? How the fuck can James go on record as saying he loves Godzilla and then just reject doing a project related to the thing he loves? What the hell was he doing that he "didn't have the time" for that?

Really? Fokkehn REALLY? Hammer and Gojira is supposed to be Bimmy's thing? where did you read it? And Bimmy always says stuff like "When I made Godzilla-thon" and shit. If life was just everobdy should've thrown Bimmy under the (short) bus and hailed Matei as the nerd who pioneerd Internet media. He deserves, well maybe not love, but atleast the reckognition. He IS the nerd!

Do you have a source on that? Not that I doubt you but that's a very significant bombshell. It would mean that James only really extensively knew about oldschool horror and Godzilla movies along with some of the more modern mainstream stuff and smattering of other things. That is astonishing to me. But I could believe it in a weird enough way because...

I remember for years waiting for him to cover Fulci on Monster Madness. It's a ripe subject, a ton of diverse movies, a lot to sink your teeth into and the -so far only- Fulci film he chose was The Black Cat. Now, I like this flick but this is not one of his more beloved horror films. A lot of people just shit on it for one reason or another. Yes, I would agree, it is ridiculous to see people attacked by a killer cat. It's B movie concept. But, the movie works when you look at it as a throwback to oldschool horror from the Universal era. If it was shot in Black and White then the homage would be more clear. And James apparently saw the same elements and chose that one. Either that he picked the title at complete random and was like "Oh yeah, Fulci, I can make a video on this."

I thought Mike just did the editing for Monster Madness starting with Godzillathon? Did Mike also do the writing as well?

AVGN Godzilla NES episode. He goes through the Gameboy, SNES, and 2 NES games, talked about how he saw a section in a game magazine for a Godzila brawler that wound up being a japan-only thing and got pissed off about it. He has a meltdown at the end when he plays the PS2/Xbox/GameCube games because those are better than the shit he grew up with and was all like "WTF WHY DIDN'T I GET THAT GROWING UP?!?!?!"

At this point, considering how everything we're learning about in this thread surrounding james has been a lie the entire time, I'm convinced Mike was just channeling himself onto James because maybe James is more charming in front of a camera or something (or at least was, that balding hairline ain't doing him any favors).

The severity of the breakup and insanity going on was tweeted. When Mike and James threw a few 'you got this bro' tweets at each other right after he left, never to be done again after a week.

James Rolfe but someone uncovers an archived forum post from 2005 where he admits to having coprophilia, fundamentally and retroactively altering the tone of Angry Video Game Nerd for all time.
He would, and I quote "rather eat the rotten asshole of a road-killed skunk AND down it with beer."
No I do not actually believe James literally eats shit.

He did mention on the podcast that he looked into finding a farmer that'd let him film himself getting shit on by an actual buffalo, and was told why that would be a very bad idea

Such a quaint time when the most autistic thing seemed like Mike talking about Inspector Gadget and Elmo in Grouchland.
They were also enjoyable videos as shit as they were to the point the backlash against them caused Mike to go into Delete everything mode and try scrubbing their existence from the internet for fucking years till like 4 or 5 years ago or so. Doesn't feel like it's been that long, honestly.

Tons of people use the "there were tons of shit games in the olden times, you just don't remember them" argument but that's never seemed true to me.
Just look at this old advert:

That's more smash hits in a single christmas by a single company than you now see from the entire industry in a year (and I'm talking pre-corona release schedules here! ...unless you want me to compare it to 0 titles!)
