It's this thing I notice about a lot of YT and Twitch faggots and the like: they can never admit that they have an easy job. Not once have I ever heard any of these motherfuckers say anything of the sort. It's this weird bit of obstinate bullshit where they cannot admit it and I'm pretty sure if you put a gun to their head they still wouldn't admit it's an easy and cushy job.
its because they like making people think what they do is hard work it makes them seem more serious

despite whatever retarded shit they get popular for they demand to be taken seriously and treated as important

The fact that he was apparently writing his autobiography since the late 90's—before he was famous—has a lot of implications.
There's being delusional, and then there is James. Even back then he thought he was hot shit which is just something else. At this rate I'm pretty sure nothing will knock James off his high horse entirely. The movie did quite a bit for him as that was the first time it seems James got a wake-up call from reality telling him his films are not high quality, but he still is delusional that he is still a huge film creator.

He cares so little about Monster Madness now he reads plagiarized stuff written for him without even checking it out. He's only upset he got caught. He's a fraud.
James only really cared about the first Monster Madness. He planned to do just that one. Mike liked it so much, he asked James to continue it the next year, but James told him " No, I don't have the time." So Mike offered to do the bulk of Monster Madness and has done so until they just started recorded the two of them talking about a film for 10 minutes.

It really feels like the history of Cinemassacre can be summed up as "Mike needed something to do/a job"

James huffs copium in the book and dismisses all criticism for the movie. He claims to love it himself, which makes him the only one in existence who does.

Honestly he could've done well if he became a movie review channel. Like movie reviews do well in the youtube algorithm and he has more passion for film than video games
Does he really have a passion for film, though, or does he just like to play pretend film-maker? It's been a great year for movies, especially horror, yet these are the 7 sole films he chose to review:

The Batman
Sonic The Hedgehog 2
Top Gun: Maverick
Rob Zombie's The Munsters
Deadstream
Halloween Ends
Spirit Halloween The Movie

And then his reviews tend to be mostly monotone, shallow descriptions of what the movie is about instead of talking about thoughtful, unique observations about the film-making and storytelling

I did do another watch of the film as I had said earlier, and every criticism I've said about it holds up. The more I watch it though I realize that the film was made specifically for James, by James. It really wasn't made for a general audience, or hell even for the fans. It was a project for him by him. Which would be fine, but the film still sucks ass, and he can't admit that he fucked up even one thing. At some point I will read the autobiography, which will be one hell of a ride if the small bits and pieces I've seen are the "best" parts.

An AVGN episode can take 40 hours to make. That's how much you work a week at a full time job. He makes like one video a month. That's four times less than someone working a real job.

And what is James even doing? He doesn't write the scripts or play the games, is he duct taping tripods to the ceiling and drilling holes in that tough 80s wood for 40 hours?
James makes things more difficult than they need to be, like plagiarizing a film review. It's 100 times easier to just say your own opinion on a movie than it is to dig around and find someone else opinion to use.

Videos that would take an afternoon to film and maybe a couple hours to edit end up taking 40 hours because he fills it with autistic busy work, plagarism and 'there goes the onion again' moments.

Brad Jones makes something like Monster Madness look easy that guy puts out a video damn near every day.

I don't think James deserves the hate but he should have ended AVGN years ago and stuck doing Monster Madness. He's clearly in it for the money at this point.
He does and he doesn't. I find the phenomena of anti-fans to always be fascinating especially when fans turn on their idol(s). James chose not to listen to criticism and just stopped caring. In essence, he abandoned his fans something something vengeful bastard children. Now his channel is a train wreck to watch.

I think the whole filmmaking process not only burned him on making Youtube videos but probably the whole movie making process in and of it self. I've heard of this with some directors that they just cannot watch new movies because they know how the sausage is made. I expect something similar with James plus retreating back to his nostalgia and rose colored glasses.

If you read his book, he kind of admits that he doesn't give a shit about making content anymore and that being a dad is now his big dream. I can't say that I really blame him, even if that means his videos suck now.
Which would be absolutely fine if he just said/did that.

Instead he uses them as an excuse for why he can't do anything/shield against criticism. He'll NEVER say "yea, I didn't really put effort into that nor do anything involved with it" because this is Bimmy the legendary FILMMAKER.

Instead he wants to be this fulltime Dad (with his full time wife) literally breaking down in tears when the kid looks out a window without him, while desperately repeatedly trying to make YOU feel bad for HIM not putting any effort it. Instead of going "my content is slipping because I'm spending more time on something I value" or "I'm doing the best I feel I can, I'd appreciate if you support me" like a normal person, he goes "I'm literally putting every precious second I don't have into this film, to the point it's making me miss me children growing up, how dare you not just watch it and buy my shitty sponsors and say how great it is, DO YOU WANT ME TO SUFFER?!?!? I went out of town, once, for three hours and cried the entire time because MUH KIDS and you have the nerve to say me whining and failing to do anything isn't oscar worthy?!?!". You have a kid and work 40 ours a week with a wife who works too. On someone elses schedule. Every day. WHAT DO YOU WANT FROM HIM?!?!?

It's incredibly narcissistic. He genuinely believes he deserves your time, praise, and money because he bends over backwards (to pick up pre-written script) to bring you these movies. Is the same massive retard ego seen in the "I'm supposed to be a filmmaker and there I was pushing carts at a grocery store". "letting my classmate be the director was refreshing to step back from the other perspective, but they didn't take my advice because they didn't realize I had already made 200 films".

The depressing state of media was in 2022.
Every year has quite a few good movies while most shit is garbage and disposable.

It's like when I read whiney gamers talk about how games haven't been good since 198X/199X/200X when in reality most video games suck ass and you only remember the handful of titles you liked.
